  1. I'll be up for it, gives me a chance to meet some of you members.
  2. I've signed it, I think we should send the link to the petition to every one we know!!,
  3. I certainly agree with you mate, it really takes the p*ss, and whats even more annoying is that we can't do anything about it. We are now working for the government and not for our selves!!!!, it also looks like that things are only gonna get worse for us, I was reading some thing on the internet and apparently some MP' want the road tax top band to cost £1800!!!!, where do they think we can get that sort of money from???. I've also been looking in the autotrader to replace my IS200 next year, I was going to by a 53/54 plate IS200 next year, but with these road tax increases it isn't going to be affordable any more, so it looks like I'm going to the dark side, I think I'm going to have to settle for a BMW 320d se, the tax on that is only £150, but it doesn't quite have the same feeling as the IS :(
  4. Yeh i'd have to agree with wozza, I only paid £200 for the full interior for mine, you can get them from ebay quite regularly, I can't see the postage being anymore then £200 but I could be wrong. shak
  5. Mine is registered 18-01-01 so I miss it by two and a half months, but I find this really annoying because I was planning to buy a newer IS200 next year, so thats that plan out of the window!!. This government is really ****** me off, its all tax tax tax, what have we got to show for it!!!!. They are encouraging a better life style for the rich, who won't think twice about paying £500 for road tax on a ferrari or a porche, while we (most of us) working class people have to sacrifice things that we enjoy having. it really annoys me!!!!!!!!. I think I might move abroad, I can't stand this country any more. We are certainly not the biggest polluters in the world but why are we having to pay all the green tax's, what about China, America and the rest of Europe, are we gonna save the plannet?, of course not!!!!. A very annoyed shak!!!!!!
  6. Sorry people, you are right. 7. I've just checked the gov website The Gov Link This shows that all Lexus IS200 that are registered from 01-03-2001 to 23-03-06 (Which I think applies to all IS200's) will pay £210 for there road tax. Any IS200's that are registered before 01-03-01 will pay £185 So there is no massive increase for us, hope this helps anyone who was unsure Shak
  8. Alright there every one I thought I would shed some light on the MOT issue regarding the HID's, as some of you may be aware of I am an MOT tester at an independent garage, If you have HID's the vehicle will not fail as long as the temperature of the bulbs are below 6000k, which is the upper limit for the MOT. Allot of cars now have HID's (Xenon) lights as standard which include Merc's, BMW's, Mazda, VW and others which I can't recall, their temp range tends to be around the 4000k to 5000k which do not fail on a MOT. So I hope this helps anyone who was worried about putting their car in for MOT. Shak
  9. Just wondering if anyone has brought a chrome tail piece for the exhaust back box for the IS from the dealer recently, wondering if they still them and how much it costs?? Shak
  10. Technically, as I had a Finance Agreement (through Lexus Finance) my redress is also with them as, until I finished paying the vehicle off - they owned the vehicle and, I think, I "purchased" the vehicle from them. In the same way, my mortgaged house belongs, in part, to the mortgage company. Anyhow, I am speaking to lawyers this week on this matter and, so I cannot be accused of "showing my hand early on" again - I'll PM those who are interested to find out what was said, unless of course everybody, bar the critics, are keen to find out? Chris I Would certainly be interested in finding out what the lawyers say.!!
  11. Sorry my mistake, I'll call you Chris from now on, its easier!! :D I would guarantee that the few critics you have would take the money and run!, personally I don't think there is going to be any sort of money offered to us, but I could be wrong. If lexus admit a problem, change the geo settings to WIMs and gave us a big discount for a full geo, that would still be a great result!! Getting a refund for people who have already spent money getting the geo right would be a good bonus. I think you are doing a great job and I'm right behind you! Whats next on your agenda?? shak
  12. To be honest safety is down to the the manufacture to a certain extent, as the problem which causes this excessive wear exists in all our cars and therefore it must be a manufacturing fault, the fault also moves onto the dealers, they know there is a fault, as there are thousands of customers who go back to the dealer and complain, but they refuse to acknowledge this problem and fob us off by calling it a "characteristic of the vehicle" which is ridiculous and yes you are right that its our duty to check the tyres regularly but it is not acceptable where good quality and very expensive tyres wear at this rate, and no dealer should ever expect that we should be checking our tyre treads every 500 miles, just because its "characteristic of the vehicle" . I've been a vehicle technician for 7 years now and been a MOT tester for 5 years and i've never seen good quality tyres wear in so little mileage!!. I Personally think that IMO24601 is doing a great job in trying to get some sort of acknowledgement from lexus, it is not going to be easy which I expect he knows but at least he is trying and he should not just drop this case just after the first hurdle. I never expected this would just be resolved in one letter, we are dealing with a multi billion pound company and they will expect us to just except what they are saying, but with allot of persistence I honestly think there will be a outcome that we can be satisfied with.
  13. yeh thats normal, they come on every 15 min (approx) after the 5 min warm up, it helps to extend the life of the heating element and also the heated seats are there to take the chill off the seats instead of burning your A@#E :P
  14. You will need to put a fused live from the battery to the electric seats and an earth, but you may have the wiring ready to plug in if your old seats were already heated, the wiring for the electric seats could have been installed. never realised that they ever did that combination
  15. Yeh they should fit fine mate B)
  16. Are both front seats electric or just one? There were two types
  17. Alright mate, use that link I put on the above post, thats the wiring for the electric seats and if you ask Sparkystav really really nicely he will give the wiring diagram for the heated seats, thats all I needed when I did my conversion. Just found the "how to wire the electric seat" Post Use this link below, should help How To Wire Up The Electric Seats linky
  18. I'm about to do the same thing. I've been told the connections should already be there, in your car. Do they ship to Sweden? ;) Alright there mate I've done the conversion my self only two weeks ago, I assume you are putting them in a IS200 s spec or altezza ??, I found that there were no connections under seats for the electric or heated seats (mine being a 2001 model), the only connections that existed were for the heated seat switches. But the wiring isn't difficult!, as the electric seats only need an earth and a fused live, the heated seats only need the live wire coming out the switch to the heat seat wire on the seat, the earth for the heated seats is shared with the electric seat earth wire. You will need to cut the wiring block off the seat loom to do the wiring, I hope this helps mate, If you need a hand just PM me and I'll give you my phone number. This link will help for the electric seats Electric seat wiring
  19. That looks very nice mate, tempted to a set of those my self!!, where did you get them from??, are you gonna put some side skirts on too eventually?
  20. hehe, I would be interested in one but firstly I drive like a granddad and never go over 3500 revs which is funny for a 27 year old lad, which means I would never get the full use out of one and secondly the £4000 price tag is one hell of a pricey mod, but I suppose its worth it when you put your foot down :winky:
  21. I think i'm happy with that for now (I think), can't think of any thing else I Would like really? Its that modding bug, it gets into you very quickly!!!!!
  22. Alright mate Is yours a top loader unit, if so I know some one who can repair it for a bit cheaper then that, pm me if you are interested. I'm going away tonight and I won't be back till monday, so it will be next week before I can get back to you. shak
  23. Alright everyone As most of you are aware of, I have been upgrading my IS200 s. I've now done my last mod (I think) which is a sports mesh grill, I wasn't going to put one on, but after seeing DJ Wozza's IS I couldn't help my self. I think its a massive improvement and it was a relatively cheap mod at £36!!, well worth it!!!, So here she is Shak
