If you can, go for the 220D mate. I love mine. Couple of minor annoyences but I rate it way above mercs and BMW. Why pay extra for a little brand emblem/badge. Besides, the Lexus looks 1 million times better. Col.. :winky: :winky:

I got the nasty crack noise from the dash, and a funny vibration/nose at 1500 rpm. I'll take it back to the Toyota Dealer I bought it from as Lexus Aberdeen are closing down (worse luck). Other than that I'm now a happy bunny. Col... :winky: If you're happy with a 220D, think of how much happier you'd have been with a 250 But think how much happier he is Not paying the Road Fund licence for a 250 & Less MPG (as much as all you 250 owners say you get better MPG to the 220 that is rubbish) Cheers mate, your right. I love the 220D. I could've went for the 250, but the 220 is what I really preferred after having a few on loan and test drives. It's all down to personal preference and what you look for from you vroomy... Col... :winky:

Just to clarify... Lexus have made no official statement as to dropping the the diesel range from 2011. It is a pure rumour. My local Lexus dealer has confimed that they think it is nonsense. I'll wait and see, and believe it only when they make the offical anouncement. Col.. :winky: :D Don't believe dealers! If word got out NO ONE would buy an IS220d! They'd be worthless. Every car you buy you have to sell one day, and if people knew it was going out of production it would tumble in price. Tango normally has good sources of info. Lexus Aberdeen franchise is and has been held for years by the large car group Arnold Clark. Over the years, i have come to know and respect the sales, engineering and service people and hold them in high esteem. If anyone knows what is going on, it is these people. So, although Tango may have heard from the grapevine what may be happening, I prefer to believe the "horses mouth" at present. So, I'll wait for the "official announcment" before panicking. Well, since my trusty and well loved IS200 sport has been replaced with my IS220D, I've been mainly mooching around on the IS200/250 board. It is very boring and less helpful than this one. Methinks maybe I should've kept my IS200 now..... So, yer stuck with me... LOL Col... :winky:

To me it sounds as if it's maybe the turbo trying to kick in or out??? You can feel the vibration if you touch the rear view mirror. It's not a terrible vibration, it just concerns me coz I don't know if it is serious or not???? Col... are you refering to the mirror vibration when in sixth gear at low rpm's. nope..

I'm a bit miffed that they haven't been in touch with me. Two bits of news then and I don't think either come as a surprise. Regarding the 220d there seem to have been less complaints about the later models or is it that todays owners are not as vocal as jamboo? It wasn't has if they contacted me personally, just in discussion with the Sales and Service guys in my local dealership. We all know Lexus only introduced the 220D for the fleet market, and going by the number of them I see on the motorways, I'd say they have succeeded somewhat. Unfortunately the development of the diesel for the second generation IS didn't get the same attention as the 250/350. I'm sure they have sorted out (most?) of the problems, but as they consider hybrid technology to be the future they're not going to pour money into developing the diesel, especially as BMW and Audi have such a lead. Not heard this up in Haggis Land..... Is there an official press release or something somewhere???? Col...

Hi peeps, Just a few weeks since I got my 220D. At around 1500 revs (all gears) I get wierd vibration/noise from the engine (Not wheels). The rear view mirror vibrates too. Anyone got any ideas as to what it might be.. serious/non serious??? Ta Col..

Y'know, it never fails to amaze me, how, everyone (mostly) are so supportive, helpful and positive on the Lexus Forums. You guys have made me feel so much better about my decision to change to the 220D. Thanks a million all. MERRY XMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR. Col.. :D

col,my 220 has covered over 63k miles and has been 100% reliable,some owners have had reliability issues which largely relate to the egr and emmisions system,these problems are not specific to lexus as all diesels that have dpf systems have a build up of carbon deposits that build up over time.if your cycle of use is largely urban then i would say that you have bought the wrong car but if you do longer journeys then you will be fine.btw,the AA advise drivers of vehicles with dpf's to use premium diesel every third tank to keep carbon deposits lower,i use millers dps4 in every tank as an alternative to premium diesel I do a mix of dual carriage/motorway/ town driving guys. All your comments are putting my mind at ease thank, goodness. I've had such a brilliant experience with my IS200 sport (now gone) that my hopes were raised to the extreme with the 220D. (maybe not a good idea to do that). I'll pay less attention to any negative comments. Being on the forum, I trust the experience of nearly all the peeps on here, so hope you can understand that I might on occasions get it wrong. Getting a bit worried! Reading some of the posts on here, I see so many negative comments about the IS220D. I've just bought one wich is just under 2 years old. Changed my IS200 sport (which was a magic car) for one. There is nothing much I don't like about my own IS220D. Getting used to a totally different drive experience from the 200 sport is challenging but enjoyable. The negative comments are making feel like I might have bought the wrong car??? It's not an insignificant amount of money that I've spent on a brand that I was told was wonderful. Have I made a BIG mistake. Face to face talks with other owners dicates that they love their 220D's as much as I do.... Col

Hi Zeee, Welcome to LOC... Next step is to get Gold membership.. lol. You will love your 200D, I changed my IS200 sport for am IS200D. It is magical. Many happy motoring miled.. Col.. :winky: :D
