  1. You could search this forum to learn of some of the woes people have experienced with middle aged RXs but these were all one offs so far as I can recall. You really are down t the usual second hand car checks which I recall include service history tyres, MOT and obvious signs of neglect, accident damage repairs and so on. You seem to be aware of the obvious downside, high fuel consumption (use BP Petrol not supermarket urine to improve it to c20mph) and it may spring you a nasty surprise as any car of this age can.
  2. Certainly not - I would not give them the oportunity, they were so poor.
  3. All that Lexus Bradford could manage when handing over a NEW Rx400H in 2008, was to thank me for the cheque, make excuses why the wrong number plates were fitted and turf me out. The 'Handover Room' was empty.
  4. You really should try using the 'Search' function as most 'problems' relating to RX300/400s in Mark 2 format have been covered at length. This is no exception and again is not uncommon. At one point Lexus did replace wheels although by 08 this was not necessary.
  5. If you do a little research here using the 'Search' function you will find that this is quite normal.
  6. It is difficult to understand what your problem is because of the fractured English in which it is written. Why not get a new key or use the spare: This would seem a good start point.
  7. I don't recall this being raised here before, have you checked the 'search' facility?
  8. Mine RX400 is only just three years old and I have had it from new. However no evidence of this problem and nor have I heard of it. I suspect bad luck so you will have to pay although it might be worth trying to twist Lexus' arm.
  9. Indeed so but the concern would be finding a key cutter who could could the key to the accuracy required.
  10. £55 seems expensive but at least neither of these prices is the "hundreds of pounds" that you were speaking of in your first post in this thread.
  11. I would suggest that you go back to the dealer ship and tell them that fobs are available. I have extracted the invoice for the period in question into which this purchase fell (July 2011) and the descriptor is: "3 button Lexus shel" (sic) and it gives a part number "ZTOY48". The unit price less VAT was £39.11. each. Apologies for the slightly lower price indicated above. If the blade is damaged then that might add to this price, in my case, merely both fobs were damaged. No charge was made for the two minutes it took the Service Manager to transfer the instestines of both whilst sitting at his desk. Three screws hold the fob togther. It would be interesting to see if they admit that they are trying to con you or blame a simple mistake. Then change your dealer!
  12. Not sure where you get the idea that Lexus charges "hundreds of pounds" for new keys from. I had two fobs replaced (cracked across the top ), blade and transponder being re-fitted - for my RX about three months ago at the Sheffield Lexus Dealer. £43 each, expensive for bits of plastic but not hundreds. How did you flatten the car battery?
  13. I've never had a service that includes a diagnostic check unless you specifically request it. The mistake you made was 'assuming' Lexus would do it inclusive, when all you asked for was a thorough check. They are mechanics not mind readers. I agree: I rather fear that the OP is determined to find fault with Lexus service to justify getting rid of a car that he did not even trouble to test drive. I too have never had but satisfactory service from Lexus and I find all these tales questionable in the extreme and do wonder where reality lies.
  14. No, but it is not uncommon for cars to suffer from this problem.
  15. It would be unusual for there to be a light on the dashboard connected with the suspension - unless it has air suspension.
  16. I am staggered that anyone in their right mind would buy a car without first trying to establish if they like the handling, ride etc. Having had both an RX300 SEL (with air suspension) and now an RX400H, both bought new but kept for a reasonable mielage, I do not recognise the problems you describe. Nor have I any complaints about either servicing or those who do the work. You have clearly decided that you do not like Lexus and therefore you would do well to sell the car and buy your preferred Mercedes.
  17. Th RX400H does not have air suspension as there was no space for a compressor. You are correct to expect consumption c30mpg with seasonal variations. Mine certyainly does not go beneath 30mpg. There are many differences in technical specifications on the RX400 but creature comforts are the same more or less.
  18. Normski wrote "Good to hear Lexus Bradford have changed. Back in 2007 I found them to be one of the worst dealers for sales and service. " They were dreadful in 2008 when I bought my present RX400 SE-L (New). They had a lot of ground to make up and certainly provided me with a 'never again' experience.
  19. Good to hear Lexus Bradford have changed. Back in 2007 I found them to be one of the worst dealers for sales and service. Lexus Bradford providied a 'never again' experince when I bought my present RX400 SE-L (new) from them in 2008. They had an awful lot of ground to make up.
  20. Good to hear Lexus Bradford have changed. Back in 2007 I found them to be one of the worst dealers for sales and service. Lexus Bradford certainly needed to improve in 2008 when I bought my present RX400 SE-L from them. A 'never again' experience.
  21. No proper service book, forget the car. It has probably been serviced regularly as a fleet car but this problem will haunt the vehicle for ever.
