  1. Is it worthy of what? The car is perfectly capable of towing - why ever should it not be? It ihas a3.3li capacity engine as well as the hybrid input. Fuel consumption whilst towing surely depends upon the weight of the load plus that in the car, speed roads and all the other variables applicable. What is the difference between the consumption on your current car when towing and when not? It will be similar one would expect.
  2. Does the car have a reversing camera? If so you do not need them unless you are utterly careless.
  3. If you have a warranty then just go and ask - there will be no charge.
  4. having had an RX300 and now an RX400, both from new, I would readily endorse the comment about any need to top up the oil between services.
  5. You were well within this period - I think the start date for failing vehicles was 1 September.
  6. It is purely a subjective view but they are ugly in the extreme and certainly do not enhance the car. How old are you children that they cannot get in?
  7. When? - there was a discretionary period until very recently during which it was not a failure.
  8. Changing the wheels will also lead to your insurer consider charging a higher premium for a modified car - if you don't tell your insurer and then claim, they are able to repudiate the policy so tread warily.
  9. look in the service book that comes with the car, does that not specify what is recommended. In any event have you any reason to believe that the dealer is misleading you ? More work equate to more money for the company.
  10. Have you never bought a second hand car before - whilst certain latent faults are covered under warranty, anything visible should have been dealt with when you ordered it. It could well be said that you have already accepted any corrosion on the wheels by your silence. 3 normally.
  11. Bodywork, iPod costs, bootliner etc and accident repairs should not really be included in this calculation as they relate to unhappy events you have suffered/choices NOT mechanical performance of the car which is the subject here.
  12. There have a been a number of threads on this general subject - would be worth using 'search' as there are voices for and voices against not all of which are likely to be repeated in a new thread on the subject.
  13. What were the costs in 3-7? My own RX300 experience, admittedly with only years 1 - 4 were nothing like these and the car gave no hint that any expensive charges were looming.
  14. I seem to recall snow of the same calibre as Cumbria when I attended the University of Durham in the early 1970s.
  15. Perfectly fine in reasonabe snow (7"+) in Cumbria - hils and all, better with winter tyres doubtless. What it is not is an off roader but fine otherwise.
  16. Expensive indeed - is the mileage correct? I had an 05 RX300 from new an that reached 70,000 without this, and my 08 RX400 is comfortably past without problem. Has a cause been suggested because such problems have not been reported here and my experience does not suggest it.
  17. As cars go, 2003 is elderly and therefore things will go wrong although your speciifc problem relates to an electonic item and having to reboot any such gadget is not unusual so hardly a failing of a Lexus. I have now had three Lexus cars (IS/RX300 and RX400) and have found them very economical in terms of parts requirements and indeed consumable parts generally (discs etc) not expensive at all. .
  18. Air conditioning system I would suspect, many cars do it. Ignore, it is not deleterious and cannot be prevented.
  19. The fuel consumption figures however unreal are not produced by Lexus, they are carried out in a standard way by an outside body and the result published to satisfy the EU. No one should believe any 'official consumption figures' are real.
