  1. Never had this. Never had this either The squeaking from the leather means that the leather needs feeding - two adjacent pieces rubbing together. You seem fixated with the brakes - never had such issues. The dash board as well is odd. Hate to say it but this car seems either a bit of a dog or you are supersensitive.
  2. Sanitise it then - common issue with any aircon, not just Lexus.
  3. The point of the RX system is simple. RX300 consumption in the 17-23 mpg range RX400 27-35mpg range The car does operate in 2-wheel drive for much of the time but "redundant" is not an appropriate word. Were you to buy one you would see that it is used significantly.
  4. This is an ongoing problem with the RX400 and has been discussed here many many times to the point of boredom. Try you dealer for a new one on the grounds that even by RX400 standards this is poor.
  5. Again I disagree - it is possible to reverse by it - it adequately illuminates the near distance.
  6. I do NOT recognise my RX400 from this: 58-plate owned from new. Petrol consumption is 31mpg in summer and has fallen to 29 this winter which was exceptionally cold in Decemnber. Range on battery power - over 4.5 miles. Just for a bit of fun when the car was new. Weather OK but autumn evening when traffic was light, mnaximum speed 25mph, not especially flat. Cannot agree with your asertion in the slightest.
  7. The RX400 is fine in Cumbrian snow as I ahve demonstraed to myself over two years: However on ice no 4x4 offers any advantage.
  8. I find it very hard to believe that it "has had about 10 pairs of front tyres on this year so far". If the ting has only done 60k in 2 years that suggests that they are lasting less than 3000 miles (estimate 30,000 m per year) . Someone is pulling your leg. Very odd to have a security guard use such a car as well.
  9. Bridgestone Potenza gave good life on my RX300 SEL. They seem OK on the RX400
  10. Gaga: You are the one that is being unrealistic. You have sufficient evidence that there is no fault with the Car, just in your mind. Either the take car back and enjoy or sell and cut your losses. However whatever you do, do not blame Lexus.
  11. The air suspension is fine in my experience and that is the principal difference. Decide yourself.
  12. The engine brake is not intended to stop the car but will have been having an effect. Don't misunderstand its intended purpose. You are talking about a problem which exists only in your mind and not on the car. I use my RX400H in the Lake District extensively and have never experienced any problems on any the the many notorious hills.
  13. There is only the sun roof motor which would concern me here. The rest is normal wear and tear and does not indictae anything amiss.
  14. Why on earth would you want to do this? It goes off when you put the belt on and you never hear it again. Surely you do not drive without a belt? Seems a silly idea.
  15. Air suspension is NOT available on the RX400 in any version.
  16. It certainly could be interpreted that way. I certainly have had no problems with ether my RX300 nor my current RX400. The latter has been through some deep water in Cumbria and did not leak at all. D
  17. Surely if I interpret your header, the vehicle was new IE first put on the road) in March 2009 and therefore this is well within the warranty period and thus not a cost to you. If so take it back to the supplying or nearest Lexus dealer. D
  18. Not on the earlier Mark 2s - and some of the economy models that app reared from time to time.
  19. Embarrassing and indeed irritating but you should surely not get a fine if the thing had failed. Assuming a search does not show up a thread, would you not be better placed getting this to a dealership to investigate (or an auto electrician/independent given its age and lack of warranty) and then advise us?
