  1. Sorry to hear that mate..... :(
  2. Hi..What company is he referring to - also - just because a company is contracted to make parts for someone - doesnt mean all the parts are made to the same quality. How old is the car and what work we talking about?
  3. Wasn't it the GS400 (mk1) that Lexus said that about? Still don't think it's true though as surely the M5 was faster........ But yes the GS430 is surprisingly quick, remember test driving a mk3 one and despite knowing it had a 5.9s 0-60 it was still mighty impressive how much power it had :D Have definitely seen the GS430 listed as the fastest saloon car - although on checking - the M5 at the time could do 0-62 in 5.3 secs so not a lot in it - theres also the fact you have to allow the 15 minutes setting up the iDrive and selecting comfort level, ride height, suspension dampers, fluffle valves ;) so in a getaway situation think I'd prefer the lex ;) Most people (who havent been in a lexus or owned one) seem to think they are old mans cars - But sit someone in one, take them for a drive - they soon change their mind.
  4. Let them Carry on dreaming....if driving in comfort, style and effortless purring of a v8 makes me an old man then I'm quite enjoying being old ;-) Tell him to watch his fingers when moving his seat - those sharp edges are evil ....just before you floor your lex and see him disappear in your rear view ;) You may also want to point out the fact that the gs430 was the fastest production saloon car in the world when launched in 2000 .... Not a usual trait of an old mans car
  5. Cheers for the replies ......What the hell happened to your wheels to get like that Parthiban? No visible warp to naked eye - Ive just been told by various balancers that the rims are very buckled and theres a fair few weights on my wheels when theyve been balanced. Looks like a visit to WIM on the cards.
  6. Rims I have (Lexus original) have seen better days and need a good refurb......however, a couple of them are definitely buckled and are close to impossible to balance (just manageable). Before paying to get them to look nice and shiny/unscuffed again I wanted to double check if its possible to fix the buckle or is it the case that they are now buckled for life? If they can be fixed, great - I'll get them refurbed but if not may well save the money up and wait for a new set. Also, assuming its possible - what sort of money we talking? Cheers as always.
  7. Actually your wrong, as a share holder your open to any possible debts that get racked up as wel las profits huh? no your not. If you buy shares from a company unless your the major share holder ie the owner your not liable for debts incurred. I have shares in various companys, if the companys go bump, i simply lose my shares, as i have done a few times in the past True and not true As a shareholder you are not responsible for any debt of the company. Also, even if you are a director of a ltd company you are also not responsible for the debt The company is an entity in it's own right as if it were another "person" - it's limited usually by the allocated shares. It's a blatent attempt at harvesting emails and potential passwords and I would advise you don't fall for the scam
  8. You read my mind Chris - Just about to post a new topic asking for power wiring diagrams for my car and look on here and there it is ;) Perfect....Thanks
  9. Clean the Throttle Body plus the MAF sensor (assuming the LS MKIII has one) - smoothed mine out a treat Possibly a small air leak?
  10. Huge Insurance company....I was covered by them for a few years - Didnt claim anything though so not sure what like on that front. Were one of the 20th largest companies in the World (by revenue) in 2007 - although appears they are struggling at the moment like a lot of other financial institutions
  11. My only hesitation on the coil pack diagnosis would be they usually fail in pairs from what I can see so you would expect misfires on more than one cylinder if that were the case Get codes read to double check
  12. Had a little clearout at the weekend and found a wiring harness that I used to convert my old LS400 (1995) to ISO connectors (so I could fit my Parrot Car Kit) Its no longer of use to me and rather than throw away a harness that cost me £25 - I'm quite willing to send to anyone who has a use for it for nothing. (I hate waste ;o)) If anyone wants - send me a PM of your address and I'll stick in the post.
  13. Whats the change interval for Cambelt on an LS? Would this be the first? If not, when was the last one done?

  15. Hi...had done at halfords.... In the end 175 for the kit Inc fitting plus 20 quid for a lead Looks very neat and tidy ;)
  16. Check if a Parrot Mki9200 will fit - Excellent bits of Kit - Handsfree Car Kit (Bluetooth), A2DP (Bluetooth Music Streaming), USB connection for USB MP3 players, iPod/iPhone connection for iPods/IPhones, standard jack that can be plugged into any device with a headphone socket - plus can take SD Cards with MP3's etc on - all through the OEM headunit (mines a satnav though) Colour screen + wireless control module Just had one installed in my GS and its ;o)))
  17. Halfords fitting for free at the moment if you have them in Ireland......Just have to buy kit from them and pay for any looms reqd
  18. The MIL light comes on for several hundred different reasons so Its hard to say without knowing what code is logged.....
  19. More responsive and wont change up until you hit higher revs..... But its down to driving style - You can still floor it in Snow mode , will kickdown and use shed loads of fuel..... If you drive fast, brake late etc you are going to use loads of fuel - whatever mode you are in. If you drive smooth, steady, brake softly - You will use less - whatever mode you in. Ive also noticed I use less fuel overall if I accellerate hard up to 70 for example and then sit there light footed just keeping up to speed than if I take it steady and accelerate softly. I'm guessing its due to the time spent accelerating vs being at a reasonable speed and "cruising" Eg Floor the car for 6 seconds and you'll see the consumption drop to 5mpg during those seconds - But then youre into 30+mpg whilst cruising at 70mph Is this better/worse than taking it a little steady and taking 12 seconds at 9mpg - My maths says it better the fast way...... Its just my humble opionion on what Ive experienced - but really doesnt seem to make a jot of difference on mpg - How you drive and how fast you get there makes the biggest difference......but thats could be due to the type of route I take and roads I drive on - may be different on say mainly city driving???
  20. Yes....convert to ISO std .....Not sure what the SOT stands for (if anything) but thats what they are called
  21. Have experimented with these quite a bit - and what I can say from my limited testing is - It makes very little difference at all which mode you are in. Its a little like those fuel saver things - you tend to drive differently and be heavier / lighter on the pedal. I drive 80 miles a day round trip to and from work Most of it on the A5 - I tried each of the 3 modes for a month at a time - and fuel economy was within 1mpg for all of them. Its down to how you drive rather than anything else. The biggest guzzler of fuel is when pulling off from a standstill - so rolling up to junctions slowly rather than coming to a complete stop can save you a couple of mpg I also notice a huge difference just by controlling my throttle when approaching junctions so its just enough to get me there - rather than having to apply the brakes - again - you can earn yourself a few extra mpg doing this. Ive managed (by changing my driving style) to get up to 30mpg on my work journey by driving sedately and as low as 18mpg driving like a looney - and it doesnt matter too much whether I'm in Sport mode or Snow mode. Personally - Stick in Sport when stop/start driving as I enjoy the instant response - Normal most of the other time. Snow in Snow - but these cars still undriveable in the snow - ;o))
  22. £179.99 for the kit inc installation - but need 2x SOT leads at an extra £60 (one wiring loom to the HU and one to the amp in the boot) - So £240 all in fitted. Seen for £134.00 online but thats just the kit - then you need the 2 leads - then the fitting - so wasnt worth the hassle - didnt want to fit myself as I'm not great with that type of thing.....
  23. Concur with all....Parrot kit is excellent....Had a 3200 ...getting a MKi9200 installed this Thursday in my GS ;o))
  24. And wouldnt that also be short lived? I would have thought the pre/post cat o2 sensors would then pick up on being rich mixture - and therefore reduce the amount of fuel back down to normal levels ? Its all a fine balance with the ECU I suppose....
