  1. Hi barrie, sent you a pm as read yours first and now your post. Bear in mind mine is a 95 model but i cant see there being a difference in light sockect connections between the two years. I think i had mine fitted in about one and a half hours once figured out the wiring and we did take our time. It was just a case of sorting the two hid pins into the lexus 3sockets leaving 1 unsued. will pm u when spoked to my mate steve.
  2. Just read your 1st post again . I paid £1500 for mine almost 2 years ago and with the recession im hinking its now worth abot £1000- £1100 in average condtion. There is now way you could let your car go for that so im thinking your £1800 is about right ,anyone coming to look at it would have a hard job knocking the price down considering the condition. Id put the word out and bide my time, someone on here would know someone who would appriciate it im sure. steve
  3. Id keep it. My thinking is if you wanted another how long would you have to search for a similarly loved car and in exceptional condition. The only way is sell is if i had a plan to upgrade to a newer model in the next 6mths or so .Couldnt be without a LS for longer than that lol. Steve.
  4. Hi , problem sorted , after removing all 4 wheels and checking all was fine i noticed i had a brake light out . I replaced this bulb about a month ago with a 382 as listed by halfords. And it worked fine but noticed it was gone again since my fluid light was on. Removed the bulb and it hadnt blown .Confused me for a bit then i noticed the base of the bulb had 1 terminal and the bulb holder on the car has 2 terminals !!! . Must have made a connection for a bit then moved and showed a fail light again, so i think halfords listings may be out a little.Correct bulb now fitted . job done. So the next time i fir a new bulb i'l be checking the terminals match up 1st !! steve.
  5. Hi This is probably really simple but im missing it !. I recently fitted new pads all round and one week later the brake fluid warning light comes on, on every drive after about 10 mins. Car drives fine. 1. All rear bulbs are working ok. 2. Brake fluid is at top of full level. 3. Low pad warning wires have been capped off (due to stupid cost to replace). The only thing i can think is now all the pistons dont travel as far the fluid level has risen (possible?) and the light is to say fluid to high ? any other ideas gratefully recieved. steve.
  6. And me too,,, on idle i can feel the a/c powering up n down and when braking the brakes seem steady then will suddenly bite more causing the car to surge to a stop , if that makes sense. steve
  7. When i bought the car i promised myself to only to the accelerator with the lightest of feather touches but i just cant do it !!, so that explains my mpg lol. I just drive it like my old golf and hang the expense. Beautiful cars !!! steve
  8. hi, interesting thread, just checked my trans fluid and its engine oil coloured not cherry red so that jobs now on my list. Seem to remember reading somewhere you should check the fluid level on a warm engine, is that correct? I get the occaisional thump when selecting 'd' but its random i think. Also is there filters or something in the box to change with the atf ? thanks steve
  9. Hi, have just completed 3 tanks of gas and using the power setting on each. With normal i regularly get 18.2 mpg with power i have seen 17.4 mpg . To be honest theres not much diffrernce when driving although with power the car certainly seems more responsive. My plan to use normal setting for around town and power for outa town trips. As motorway driving seems to give slightly better mpg. cheers steve
  10. Hi thought this may help someone- on youtube theres a video for the repair of the auto column motor for a 97 lhd , sure the principle would be the same for a rhd vehicle. type ls400 steering column repair into youtube,, sorry dont know how to post a direct link. steve
  11. Wow , it must prove what these cars are capable of with im assuming full srevice history. Was the previous owner neil armstrong? as this car has been to the moon and back !!! lol ( at closset point to earth-- 225,622 miles) Wonder why therse np piccys though. lol steve
  12. Just read your 1st post again,, the amp definatly powers all speakers , i dont know what diagram you found but by removing different connections off the amp i had different speakers working or not. I would be thinking a fuse maybe or the power connector loose to the amp. Let us know how you get on steve
  13. Hi shaduf, you can access the amp by just moving the seat fully forward, then removing the vent cover (2x screws under blanks) the amp is held in by small screws either side . 2 or 4 i dont remember. Yes the amp powers all seven speakers ant there are i think 3 /4 block connectors going into it. Good luck sorting your problem. When i bought mine i had just one rear speaker not working so that was an easy one. Someone on here should be able to direct you to a wiring schematic which may help. steve
  14. hi shaduf, the amp is located under the drivers seat . You need to remove the plastic air vent cover to see it. I have a spare amp if you can check yours is duff or not. cheers steve.
  15. Hi lee that LS looks really nice and the miliage is just below average so if it in your budget try haggling him down a bit ? lol As for buying an older series , servicing costs and fuel will be a bout the same however the older the car the more it may cost at mot time. Id personnaly buy the newest i could afford and wait for the right car. Thats not to say there are not older cars that are in excellent condition and well priced . It really depends on what youre after. Mileage is not really a issue as long as it has service history backing it up (full). Good Luck . cheers steve
  16. Hi, does the 430 have a master master skeleton key like the 400 ? maybe try that one . Mines kept in thr service wallet steve.
  17. Have completed my 1st tank on pwr setting and found with the box changing up faster its a much fruitier drive lol. MPG was 1 mpg lower than previous normal tank, this was in town driving only. Will do a couple more tanks to get an average though Current thinking is use it for outa town driving or when you want to lose something with four cylinders lol. cheers steve
  18. I will be very interested to hear your results. There was a thread a while back disussing this too, and the conclusion seemed to be that around town there was not a big differecne and PWR button being on may have even been worse. But it was better on a long run. Be sure to keep us posted. ok will do, have just tanked up today so pwr switch now on. Will give it about a month to do a few tanks and post results. steve
  19. Hi, ive owned my series 3, 95 for about 18 months now and have logged every tank to date. Just curious as its such a large engine and im averaging 17-18 mpg mostly around town with the switch set to ECONOMY. Im going to run her from the next tank on POWER for a few tanks and see what the diff is to mpg. Never thought to try it before, gota be worth a try. cheers steve.
  20. hi, my auto dimming rear veiw mirror is next useless as well but it does work. it just doesent make much difference. maybe their just like that lol. steve
  21. hi steve, mines a uk spec 1995, and as you say "use type 11 or equivalent" also confirmed in hand book on back page. Its one of my jobs this year lol. (dreading it) cheers steve.
  22. Hi Zaoh , yep agree with steve, as ive done the 20miles on the yellow light as well but not much further,so that would be a good estimate. cheers
  23. Hi, just a thought if its inside the car, sometimes over bumps my keys rattle a bit lol. have a few on there and these cars are so quiet it does stand out. cheers steve
