It's a long shot I know, but it saves me registering with the iQ Club! I'm trying to get into a 60 plate iQ auto which has been sitting idle for a year. I've tried unlocking it with the key blade, which has worked on many occasions before, but there is nothing from the lock. The key turns but there's no mechanical action indicating that the lock is working. There's only one lock - on the driver's door. There's no lock on the boot or passenger door. Any ideas anyone please? I need to get the battery charged and the car mobile for an MOT and service on Tuesday!

I had an odd experience last night. A 19 reg 3 series jumped the lights I was waiting at, and then cut up another driver at the next roundabout. But, and here's the thing - it did indicate to show which way it was going. I was stunned.

For me: 6. It isn't an Audi, BMW or Mercedes....

I've got the 6 speaker system in my IS300h. I had the Mark Levinson system in my IS250 so it's a bit of a come down. It's good enough though - better than many other systems I've experienced.

Went out for a spin yesterday to test the phone/slot mount combo. All went very well. No undue wobbling, Ergonomics for eye from road to phone and back to road timing (to check the phone app speed limits) were good. The phone stayed put. The mount gripped it tightly, even over the Whittlesey level crossing, which anyone who has taken it at 40mph will know is well bumpy. I'll give the cdslotmount a double tick VG. I've got a 320 mile round trip to the South Coast planned before the end of the month which should give it a fuller test. I shall report back!

Hallelujah! I was pootling along the now average speed camera controlled section of the A605 this morning and thought "I know, I'll stick the cruise control on so that I can rest easy about getting nicked". I got into a right tizz when trying to adjust the speed a bit as I did in my IS250 by moving the lever down. "What's going on here? " I asked myself as the speed suddenly began to drop. "Have I broken it?" Now thanks all of you above, I know what was going on. Cheers everyone!

Excellent - glad to hear you're all sorted now.

The battery in my IS250 failed at 10 years. The water pump went at 11 and I had caliper issues at 7 and 9. I needed a new exhaust at 6 or 7 (both back boxes because one had fallen off: £700 - ouch!) and an a/c compressor at 6 (it was £400ish to mend). There were six new spark plugs at some point. I seem to recall putting 4 sets of tyres on it over 120,000 miles. Given the 250's tedious reliability and relatively low servicing costs, none of this hurt too much. Apart from the exhaust. That did hurt. A lot. Even the guys in the garage offered me a sit down and a cup of tea before telling me how much it was going to be. My dad would have got out the Gun Gunk (is that what it was called?) and patched it up like he regularly did on his Austin Westminster all those years ago....

The postman has just been with a delivery from http://cdslotmount.com/. It all fits nicely - I've not been out for a drive yet so can't report on wobbles/vibration etc, but it does seem to be stable and solid. With the phone on the left fixing, there's plenty of room to use the gear lever. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.

Do these help? I'm never sure whether one should flash their VIN about, so I've erred on the side of safety. If that pic doesn't get you in the right direction though, please let me know.

It was the proximity of the USB port which clinched the CD slot route - it made it neater to charge my phone if required doing it that way. Your vent suggestion is probably better/safer because I can imagine it's quicker to look down at the vent than it is down to the CD slot. If I don't get on with the CD mount, I'll try your suggestion - the mounts aren't silly money.

My F Sport claimed its first Bavarian scalp yesterday. Sitting at some traffic lights, a 3 Series pulled up next to me and started doing that slowly edging forward thing. The lights went green, I floored the loud pedal and left it for dead. No need for Sport mode or anything. I'd love to tell you which variant of 3 Series it was, but I didn't get to see its boot lid.

My road sign recognition is switched on, but it can sometimes miss a sign and the gps system does cater for those "is this a 30 or a 40 limit" panic moments.

Morning all, I'm looking for recommendations for one of those phone holders which fixes to the CD slot. "But why?" I hear you ask. Well, some months ago, I was a bit naughty and got clocked by a mobile camera doing 48 in a 40mph zone. After doing my penance at the speed awareness course, I'm now paranoid about getting caught again in the next three or so years, so I've invested in one of those GPS apps which indicates the speed limits on the current road (Dear Lexus - my wife's Ioniq gives this as standard on the satnav. Road sign recognition isn't quite as good...). Therefore, I'm looking for ways to mount my phone in the car which don't involve messy suckery things on the windscreen and thought that a CD slot based solution would be just the job. I'm assuming that one won't foul the gear lever or controls too much? Thanks in advance, Mincey

Slightly off topic - this thread has at last helped me to get the Lexus Link thingy set up. When I logged onto my dashboard (IS300h) my initial excitement at seeing a nav update was soon tamed when I saw that the IS update is from 2015! Ho hum.

Afternoon all, Whilst perusing the offers in my local Aldi, I noticed a twin pack of anti theft key wallets for the bargain price of £4.99. This seemed too good to refuse, so I took the plunge. In the car park, I put my key into one of the wallets and then tried to open the door. Failure - it opened! I then tried the key in the second of the two pockets and success. There was no interest from my car at all no matter how close I dangled the wallet enclosed key. At home, the main and spare key are in the centre of the house, so they "should" be safe from ne'er do wells, but when I'm away on business it would be good to have a little more security. For £4.99, you can't really go wrong. For some reason, my photo of the packaged items won't upload, but I have attached one showing which pocket the key should be put in for maximum invisibility. Obviously the key ring came off before I put the key away!

Flat right foot in an IS300h is nothing compared to flat right foot in an IS250. I miss that roar....

... please feel free to contact my wife. She apparently knows everything about my IS despite having never driven it or even looked at the manual. If I'm trying to work out how to do something, she'll immediately pipe up with "you need to do this..." when it is blatantly obvious that what she's suggesting is not going to work. Does anyone else have an annoying expert wife/partner or is it just me who is blessed?

I did look into that, but one of the pre-stuck strips of sticky stuff would have gone right on top of one of the screws on the existing plates so it wouldn't have sat flush. In the end it was a far easier job than I'd thought. The front plate just needed lining up in the surround and putting masking tape around the back plate before I took it off meant the replacement was a doddle to get straight and centre. I haven't been out yet to see if either has fallen off in the night.
