  1. after the awful ford windscreen, the rest will be ford.or maybe you will get curries for life.
  2. i think it is is a great deal if you you got 50%off the list price of the audi.in all seriousness, you have to remember that you the punter are in total control of the bargaining situation and these times are rare,it's a don't ask don't get world. i love a haggle, particularly when i'm wearing the trousers.
  3. i know that a lot of people don't like the water blades but i use one on my car for three years and i don't have any issue with it.i do one pass with it and then wipe the blade edge with a micro fibre and repeat.i have the auto glym blade which has a soft edge and is very flexible.thorough rinsing is the key when using a blade. clean your car.co.uk for me as well.
  4. yes, baby shampoo for me as well,i would steer clear of the baby wipes as they are very alkaline whereas, the baby shampoo is ph neutral.
  5. Yeah, I've been loyal to Lexus maintenance since I bought my car, so I want £100 off my next service too :) well in my experience, it's a don't ask don't get world.btw, the coventry dealer that that told me about the £100 redemption for the oil and filter change quoted £600 for a 60k service.clearly i won't be getting that service done at coventry.
  6. Yes mate it worked a treat to be honest, have to be a bit carefull around the boot area with it so the heads dont catch and around the door handles, but apart from that it worked great, when i'd finished using it i had no arm ache/back ache and the finish was spot on to me and a very big improvement :D So to me it was worth the money i'd spent on the smartool polisher even though it wasnt that much, used mainly auto glym products doing the red one but hopefully i'll have a few more bottles of potions to try on mine? Mine hasnt been polished for some time so hopefully it'll have a great shine when done :D is that not your car that you have polished, have i got the right end of the stick.
  7. i reckon that when your car goes in for warranty work the dealer also takes the instruction from lexus to do other items tsib's that you may not be aware of,they do not alert you to any of the extra item's,by keeping quiet leaves you the customer without any unnecessary concern's.as to returning your car with an avg mpg of 22,this would be due to battery disconnection or someting that zero's your mpg reading, this is usual don't worry.if you ask if there has been additional work done they will tell you.
  8. I can tell you, the tyre noise in the Lexus is high compared to 3er on same size wheel, even with rubbish RFT. Other noise, like wind, is similar, but will be affected by door seal, position of mirror, how the fresh air vents woks. The Lexus I had was noisier than my 3er overall, both tyre and engine. The 3er is very quite inside at motorway speed, but may be a little more wind noises. Overall lot quiter tho. i remember auto express doing a head to head test with the is and the 320d , their conclusion was that the is was quieter in every test as measured inside the cabin with the benefit of measuring equipment.
  9. cracking, shouldn't complain really I suppose...... The head honcho at the Lexus dealer I use rang me a week or so ago on another matter, but we got talking about alloys. He says the corrosion problem is restricted to the UK and does not affect the States, Scandinavia, Asia & so on. Lexus Japan did not believe there was a problem until a container load of corroded wheels were sent to them to prove the point. Supposedly the wheels are are now subject to a more rigourous manufacturing policy and if I remember correctly there is more lacquer put on them. He said he thinks that the problem occurs because we have a damp cold climate whereas other countries don't, e.g. Scandinavia is cold but is comparatively dry. He also thinks that it is possibly due to the grit & salt mix that is used on roads here rather than just salt. This possibly makes pinholes in the wheel lacquer which allows corrosion to occur. But none of this answers the big question: Why do Lexus (still?) have a problem which other manufacturers don't seem to have in all fairness,my previous car (a vw golf)had all 4 alloys replaced at two years old, so not entirely a lex only problem.exactly the same thing was said about the wheels on the mk 1 Is200 the problem was found to be the manufacturing process, in that Japan uses mostly recycled aluminum, or more so that Toyota suppliers use Recycled aluminum If that's the case then some little man on the other side of the planet, with a liking for rice & raw fish, is taking the proverbial and doesn't think it worth the effort in rectifying the problem for another insignificant little island, once and for all

  11. I was just wondering the same thing. My IS250 is over 3 years old now with 100k on the clock, so well out of warranty. I have had two sets under warranty, but they are now bubbling again. Surely if Lexus know there is an issue with them in the UK, they should still continue to replace FOC after warranty runs out, as they are knowingly supply/fitting parts they know have issues. I think I will need to appraich my dealer/Lexus GB about this and see what response I get. keep us posted on that one darren, i have a vague recollection of an article in auto express,i guy with a 1st gen IS had new wheels fitted by the dealer even though his car was four years old.perhaps somebody with some spare time may search this.
  12. I saw the original series it was in black and white! Oh right Robin Williams the guy from Take That, he's changed a bit hasn't he! marks out of two,i'd give mindy one.
  13. i also received the said offers, the oil and filter change does not mean a service but is redeemable against the cost of a service @£100 value,a good deal as long as they don't raise the service price before hand. where there's a scheme, there's a schemer.
  14. my local shell station is selling v power for the same price as diesel extra from 8am tomorrow for one day,it may be happening where you are, worth a look?
  15. Anyone got any pics of "bubbled" ones, have had a good look at mine and cant find anything but although it sounds daft want to know i am looking in the right nooks and crannys on the wheels, is it blatantly obvious or is it one of those things you really need to look for? i have found that the corrosion starts at the back of the spokes and creeps around to the front.
  16. go and see the dealer and ask to sit in one or three of their cars and check it .if all of their cars are faster warm up than yours it naturally follows that your seay has a fault,it may be that lex gb are resisting because the seat bases are £000's.be persistant it usually pays.
  17. my dealer told me that the japs would extend warranty to five years for this item.
  18. i have just had a pair of bridgestone reo50 asymmetrics 225 r17 45 91y fitted for £99 each and did 28k on the previous pair,both bridgestone's.
  19. autoexpress recently did a tyre noise test and found that between 1st and tenth position there was less than three decibels difference.the article also said that the human ear cannot detect a change of less than three decibels.food for thought me thinks. i did notice on a 2009 IS model in the showroom that it had asymmetrics.
  20. first thing is to ask the dealer, what the f..k is going on,then find the email address for the chief engineer in japan and ask him, what the f..k is going on.other than that i'm stumped.
