  1. Returned the NX and drove the RX. Rayaans was quite right. Its significantly better. I am now waiting for an RX to appear that I can afford. It will have to be a Luxury though as sadly I cant quite stretch to a Premier
  2. Returned the NX to the dealer this morning and they very kindly took me for a drive in the RX, even though they have nothing in stock to sell me at the moment. I am now only going to consider the RX and will gladly put up with the reduced mileage. The car is in a different league, I could tell immediately that was what I was going to have to have. Just need to wait for one within my budget.
  3. Ian I agree that 1&2 are subjective and re road noise, its only on rougher surfaces really, smooth surfaces were no worse than the is300. Re the sound system. I was perhaps a little harsh but the ML despite not being worth the massive price difference is impressive. Rayaans advises that the Premium nav audio in an RX450 Fsport is equal to the ML sound perhaps it is the 8 speaker standard system that is lacking. I really wanted to like the NX more. When I took the is300 Premier on a 24 hour test I had decided I wanted it within a mile of leaving the dealer but that was coming from a CT200. I thought the difference there was huge. That just didnt happen this time. Fear I need too wait for an RX to drop into my price range
  4. So after ~100 miles in the NX Luxury, mixed motorway and A road, mostly motorway, with a 25 minute crawl due to an accident on the M62 I got 45 mpg so quite happy with that. Nice car to drive and Eco mode seems more responsive than my is300, seats are very nice, also the engine seems better sound insulated as its definitely not as apparent. Some negatives though for me compared to the is300 Premier. 1. Wind noise whilst not terrible is more apparent, side mirrors definitely 2. Road/tyre noise much more noticeable 3. Small bumps or stippled road surfaces are felt isndie the cabin, a bit like a fast gentle juddering, makes it seem a little jittery and I think it might become tiring on long journeys 4. The standard sound system is poor IMHO 5. Standard sat nav and info system are less easy to use than that in the Premier is300 6. Cheap parcel shelf (very picky I know) I will try to test drive an RX450 next but if I do settle for an NX it will have to be a Premier
  5. Ian, how does the ride quality compare to your is300. I have an NX for a 24 hour test tomorrow but am debating whether to keep my is300 another 6 months or so and wait for an RX premier (new version) to drop into my price range
  6. I have one if anyone is interested. PM me for link
  7. I have one that can be downloaded if anyone is interested pm me know and I can send you a link
  8. I have an NX for 24 hours on Friday whilst mine is in for service but local dealer doesnt have either new vehicle model I am considering. Might ask them to loan me an RX for a drive on Saturday
  9. So my dilema is.... 2017 NX300 Premier or 2016 RX450 Luxury for £3k more. I have an is300 Premier and really like the ML sound system and the blind spot monitor and fear that the Luxury will leave me wanting. Thoughts welcome
  10. I still miss my RX300, brilliant car. Only down side was it was very thirsty. ~20mpg on average but that wasnt a problem when the company payed for my personal fuel. I have an is300h Premier at the moment but am toying with a change. Maybe an NX, which I having for 24 hours whilst mine is being serviced but after reading Rayaans latest mini review I think I will wait for the RX to drop a bit more as I now have to have the Premier (I like my toys) and cheapest I can find is 46K I will report back on impressions of the NX vs my is
  11. I have it on FM as I think the sound is better than DAB. I will check the traffic announcement suggestion but its only just started happening after 2 years and I havent changed any settinngs, Due a service in 2 weeks and am going to raise it with the dealer as its still under warranty. it is very intermittent though, maybe 6 times in the last month but nothing prior to that
  12. thought that was the cause or the cuff of a jacket so have been particularly careful and it did yesterday going in a straight line :-(
  13. I have recently started experiencing a strange issue with the radio on my 64 plate Premier. The channel will occasionally change from radio 2 to radio 1 on its own, usually when cornering. Anyone else had this happen.

  16. Sorry adnewton this statement is not entirely accurate "Regen braking is not actually via braking. The system regenerates via motor/generator when power is not in demand". Regen braking is exactly as it sounds, power is recovered via the genrator back to the drive battery when braking resulting in less wear on the pad friction material and longer pad life. 100,000miles has been suggested elswhere and on my 4 year old CT200 I had ~60% pad left at 44,000 miles If you watch out for it you can feel the transition from regen to actual brakes when slowing esp if you need to stop more quickly
  17. Go into your iPhone's Setting screen, tap Hotspot, and Personal Hotspot near the top of the list, and enable Personal Hotspot. You can then select either wifi or bluetooth

  19. on my 2011 CT200 I never got greater than 425 cuising range indicated after filling up despite averaging 58mpg from new so on a 10 gallon tank should have been able to get ~550 or so miles before empty. When zero cruising range came round and fuel light on I never managed to get more than about 8 gallons in a fill. So for me when the car said flat empty I had around 2 gallons with maybe another 100 miles or so.I never risked it though LOL
  20. I had a very similar experience when px ing the CT200 for the is300. Was initially told that i could not get a pro rate refund on the warranty as I was paying by direct debit and all they would do is cancel the warranty and stop the dd. I had already payed half the value of the 2 year warranty but only used 6 months worth. After a couple of firm phone calls they agreed to the pro rata refund and advised I would get a cheque in 5 working days. 2 weeks later and still no cheque and was told it hadnt even been requested but promised the refund would be processed the next day. 5 more days and still no cheque, final very firm phone call got me the refund finally after nearly a month and a number of phone calls. Very poor service with useless and quite unhelpful staff
  21. Got this from the emanual from Lexus Portal Hill-start assist control helps to prevent the vehicle from rolling back- wards when starting on an incline or slippery slope. To engage hill-start assist control, further depress the brake pedal when the vehicle is stopped completely. A buzzer will sound once to indicate the system is acti- vated. The slip indicator will also start flashing. 291 2-4. Using other driving systems 2 When driving CT200h_EE (OM76041E)  Hill-start assist control buzzer  When hill-start assist control is act ivated, the buzzer will sound once.  In the following situations, hill-start assist control will be canceled and the buzzer will sound twice. • No attempt is made to drive the vehicle within approximately 2 sec- onds of releasing the brake pedal. • Push the P position switch. • The parking brake is applied. • The brake pedal is depressed again. • The brake pedal has been depressed for more than approximately 3 minutes.  If the slip indicator comes on It may indicate a malfunction in the system. Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional
  22. The manual describes it well but as I now have an IS300h I cant check the page number for you
