  1. Exactly what should happen in the RX but today it was back to its old tricks. Temp display would not go off, no matter what I adjsuted the temperature to using the controls. Only difference is todays outside temperature was 8 degrees vs 12 degrees yesterday. I am getting rather irritated now.
  2. But you have a fancy rear climate and 3 zone option too, makes me feel inadequate LOL
  3. Try increasing the temperature and see if it comes on and then reduce and check it goes off. I did that this morning after noticing the display had turned off and increasing to 22 degrees it came back on then knocking it down to 20 turned it off. Clearly whilst the outside temp has been 3 degrees and below the interior is not reaching 20... never mind, mystery now solved
  4. I have in fact read the manual and it states what I quoted in my original post. "If a passenger is not detected in the front passenger seat, priority for the airflow will be given to the driver's seat only. In this case, the temperature indicator for the front passenger side will turn off. " The engineer at Lexus theorised that the display only turns off when the vehicle reaches temperature. This actually happened this morning as outside temp was 10 degrees so car warmed up to that before I arrived at work and the display went off. Increasing the temp brought it back on. Interestingly when cooling during summer the display was always off. Re Rayaans response. Sflow controls rear and front prioritisation and no flow to rear if no passengers in the car but this is determined by opening of the rear doors which turns sflow off requiring manual reset
  5. Help I have a gen 4 Fsport and sometime over the last month or so the sFlow seems to have stopped working correctly. The manual states the below. Howver the temperature display on the passenger side is always on even with recommended settings and no matter what s I change this is always the case. I had the car in for service at Lexus Leeds on Saturday and they initially advised thsi was normal and all SFlow does is to reduce the flow of air from the vents. On a test vehicle it did eventually turn off. Am I doing something wrong? I am taking it back nest week for the seat electric motors checking so if nobody has any bright ideas I will add this to the list If a passenger is not detected in the front passenger seat, priority for the airflow will be given to the driver's seat only. In this case, the temperature indicator for the front passenger side will turn off.
  6. First drive in snow for quite a while yesterday and the gen 4 RX was brilliant going up and on the flat even on the summer tyres. However on a moderate down slope approaching a mini roundabout doing less than 10mph the car became a 2.5 ton sledge at the first light touch of the brakes. Just goes to prove that having a 4x4 doesnt help much once you are sliding LOL. No other cars on the road so eased of the brakes and continued unscathed with the return of traction, no way I was stopping though. Makes me wonder if winter tyres would have maintained grip.
  7. Gen 4 RX FSport has 235/55 R20 tyres, so was asking which smaller wheel and tyre combo would do and maintain the overall diameter
  8. I had an NX for 24 hours when my IS300H Premier was in for service and whilst the looks andinterior appealed there was not enough of a difference to warrant a change particularly as the ride was in my opinion worse over rough surfaces. I could feel the vibration through the seat. I really wanted to like the car more than I did and very nearly went for a 3 month old Premier as I couldnt really afford the gen 4 RX (not keen on the gen 3 RX) However after a 10 minute drive of the RX I ended up with an RX450H FSport with rose interior. There is a huge difference between the 4RX and NX and I would certainly suggest a gen 3 RX would be the way to go. However you do get used to the car you end up with as I found when going from a gen 2 RX to a CT, so if you do decide on a newer NX I am sure you will enjoy it. I do think you will miss your IS300 though
  9. OK so what smaller wheels and tyre combination would be a substitute for my 235/55 r20 as I cant get my preferred Micheli Crossclimates to fit oem wheels
  10. I owned a CT200h for 3 years and it was OK, never really loved it though, and the last couple of times I had one as a loaner I couldnt wait to give it back and get back in my gen 4 RX. Not an entirely fair comparison but I am afraid the CT is not up to other Lexus models. My IS300h was significantly more Lexus like and a much nicer driving experience on every level. No offense meant to CT owners
  11. I have an optional extra of "fuel additive" on my Vantage service plan £15 a go, hmmmmmmm, either utter bol*o*ks and blatant snake oil profiteering or perhaps Toyota think its necessary LOL. In my humble opinion it would be free and part of the service if it was genuinely a requirement
  12. Rayaans. Based on your comments I re measured the OEM blade and it is ~20 3/4" and is almost touching the cowl cover of the screen so I am taking the 21" blade back to Costco to change for the 20". Thanks for the heads up.
  13. Sorry Rayaans I think it is bad advice to sat winter tyres arent worth it. The evidence available strongly suggests otherwise and for safety and peace of mind may be worth it. However on my gen1&2 RX300s summer tyres fared rather well in snow on even steep hills and as I typically drive miss daisy I dont worry too much about low temperature stopping distance improvements (possibly foolish I know) Having said that my gen1 GS300 and CT200H were useless on snow with summer tyres and my wife had to tow me into our estate on a moderate hill with her Honda CRV on summer tyres, which she never tires of reminding me. Never got to try snow with the IS300H but I suspect this would have been equally as bad given the big fat low profile rear tyres. Video clips on Youtube indicate that winter tyres on a FWD or RWD vehicle would do much better than summer ones on a 4WD in snow and stopping distances are massively improved. In fact if I could afford another set of OEM FSport wheels with winter tyres I might consider it Just my two penneth
  14. My IS300h was silent, no wind noise at all. I did get the "bubbling" noise from water droplets when it rained but could only hear that becasue the car was so quiet
  15. I got 26" and 21" based on measuring the existing blade length. It remains to be seen how they fare once fitted
  16. I agree, they make a very annoying squeak at the top of the tavel after being on constantly for a few minutes, they smear too which isnt great. I have bought Michelin hybrid stealth blades from Costco for £13 the pair but not fitted them yet
  17. Apologies, I did not mean to offend. Was simply stating an opinion based on comparison of the standard system against the Levinson (which is not bass heavy and in a car is spectacular at high volume but only good at normal listening levels) I had in the IS300H Premier and the 12 speaker system in the RX. When you get out of a car with the better system and get straight into one with the standard one it is poor. You do get used to it though as I found in my CT with standard audio when coming from the RX300 with 10 speaker and separate amp I do however fully agree with the comment about proper HiFI set up being incomparable to in car audio being. I have a £5k Quad and PMC setup (which to some would be considered mediocre) if I want real quality listening :-)
  18. The IS300H is a much better car all round than the CT. I had a CT for 3 years and it did save me a lot on fuel compared to the 20mpg of my RX300 but ride quality is rather firm and road noise is very noticeable. I went from the CT to the IS and on exactly the same commute I got ~44mpg vs ~55mpg but I was more than happy to take the hit as the car was so much better. The CT is a fine car taken on its own or compared to other similar sized compacts but having been given one twice recently whilst the RX was in for some work doing its shortcomings are more apparent
  19. Thanks for that and I am aware of Alcantara being a man made suede type material but in the US they have Nulux which is artificial leather and I don't believe that is available here. So all Lexus models that state leather upholstery is referring to the real thing...,.I hope :-)
  20. I didnt know Lexus did "artificial" leather in the UK. Is this true?
  21. Re uninvolving drive IMHO most motoring corespondents talk utter bo*lo*ks most of the time. I am on my 6th Lexus and all have been much better than the reviews, even the CT200H. I want quiet comfort not "fun" and I am sure a gen 3 RX will deliver a stellar driving experience, as long as you dont expect to do the boy racer thing. Ask anyone who owns the gen 3 and I am sure they will tell you this review is very wrong, if uninvolving is quiet and comfortable with power if needed then give me uninvolving LOL
  22. I had a CT for 3 years and never realy loved it. Nice car but a big comedown from my previous RX300 which I still miss. Saved me a fortune in fuel though. Swapped the CT for an IS300H which was a massive improvement. Test drove an NX and IMHO it is significantly better than the CT (fuel consumption excepted) However if you have been used to premium nav and or Levinson sound system avoid the base model NX as sound system is truly awful. I also thought that the parcel shelf was a let down in the NX, cheap assed like from a ford fiesta LOL
  23. Good luck with the test drives. I had to make a similar decision to you. Was going from an IS300H Premier. First test drive was 24 hours in an NX. Nice but not enough of a difference and the ride was not as smooth, rather jittery over stippled surfaces. Around town feels plenty powerful enough though. Returned it and said not for me and was offered a quick drive in a gen 4 RX. Knew that was going to be what I would buy immediately on pulling off the forecourt. The difference is night and day between NX and RX in every respect. I personally dont care for the exterior design of the gen 3 RX but I am sure you will prefer either version of the RX to an NX. My initial thought prior to test drive was a 6 month old NX Premier. Bought an 18 month old RX Fsport with red interior for £3k more and absolutely love it
  24. I have fitted EBC Greenstuff pads on 3 cars now, Gen 1 GS300, Gen 2 RX300, and my wifes Honda CRV and they are great with little to no dust on the rims. What there is easily hoses off. They are relatively cheap too
  25. My son has a 3 series BMW and the servicing costs are way more than my IS300H was and the dealer wouldn't even give him a quote beforehand. Whilst under warranty I would always stick with dealer services and maintain the service history as I think this does help with PX and private sale values so the cost is partially outweighed by that if you sell on when the warranty expires. I fully agree that an oil change and a few checks for £295 for my RX450 is taking the proverbial. For me now, as I can afford it, I prefer to stick with the overpriced dealer servicing vs an unknown garage. I like to believe that if I have any complaints I will have more leverage with the dealer. I know others might not necessarily agree with this position but each to their own
