  1. IF it wasn't such crap weather I'd go and take a look to confirm, but aren't there a couple of holes already in the crash bar that you can remount the horns to? Yep, there are threaded holes in the crash bar, different size than the bolts that hold them in their original position.
  2. That's not really true- the 1st gen IS got 2.0 litre and 3.0 litre engines. You see more IS200's and not many IS300's. Yeah, right enough, forgetting the 300,
  3. Nothing to add, but agree with most other comments Cruise, Steering wheel controls for a much better stereo!!!!!, armrest & the option to map ecu!!!!!!! And i cant think off hand of another car maker who produced a car for 7 years and only offered 1 engine to the range?????
  4. Think you might get the idea from this LINK You can see from 1 pic the way that i bolted them to the crash bar with the wires wrapped round them to stop them from being visible thru the lower grille.
  5. Hi Momo, welcome to the club. I've maybe missed you but Is it today you are going to see the car??? not the best roads for a first drive of one that's for sure!!! If you have done your homework on this site there is a few things to look out for, i would deffo take a couple of cd's with you to try out the headunit. Check inside front tyres for uneven wear. The cambelt, 60Kfrom new, then every 30K from then on is what is recommended by lexus, this may be over the top, but you dont take chances with cambelts, especially if they are aftermarket ones!!! so i would budget to have this done. all 2nd hand cars have increased in value recently, IS200 are no different, but i would be looking for some money off as a timing belt, tensioner & idler will set you back upward of $100 + fitting!! Tell us how you get on bud.
  6. Does anybody know where I can buy a 3 button unit? On the web I could only find plastic housings excluding buttons. Contact Jay Russell, from him post above, but i dunno if he's any left, worth a try!!!
  7. Thats a nice winter woolen johnny you've got there Jay mate!!!!
  8. have you tried a quick e-mail to 24/7 spares???LINK doubt they will be very cheap, but if you are stuck!!!!!!
  9. For the head unit, amp by-pass cable & fascia, all in all it set me back £700, my unit is alot cheaper now as there has been a new version put out, And yes, looking at the screen when driving is not a good idea, But the proper way to set the unit up is that you can only program in your route to the sat nav or watch DVD's when the handbrake is on!
  10. Sounds like you did well, good write up also, cant really picture what parts you are talking about but sure if someone had to do this also it would make sense as they were doing it, good work, maybe next time you do a DIY job, maybe you could take your digital camera along with you>
  11. Wozza's fascia thread Fascia mod Mine has sat nav built in so more expensive, i have also done the fascia mod. MINES JVC have full 7" screen, which i personally like without sat nav DVD / CD / USB / IPOD pretty sure this will have a SD slot, which i use on mine the most, i have a 8GB SD card instead of using my IPOD in mine coz to be true it is slow to load & search on ipod, you also have option to add bluetooth for your phone
  12. AshTray Light #2721, i got this number from another website, have'nt had to fit this myself so cant guarentee this, but i doubt you would be more than a couple of quid from Lexus or Toyota, if you have a dealer nearby???? Sorry but i cant find a guide to removing cenre console to get to the ashtray (guides for everything else) but there are a few posts that refer to it being a pain. Anyway Welcome to the club mate.
  13. You seem very sketchy as to what model IS200 you have, you have SE in your car details, your pics arent conclusive, but if you have a SE then there is a amp behind the glove box, to the left of the pollen filter on the inner wing area, it's silver & pretty much square with wires coming out the back of it.. If you do not have half leather / seude seats (both SE & sport models have this), then you have a IS200 S model, this spec does not have an amp fitted, then this may be of help to you LINK
  14. I see, i thought that the difference between A/c & climate control was the fact that A/C was for cool air only, i stand corrected, learn something new every day
  15. If it's any lower than -5, UK comes to a standstill and no-one leaves their house.
  16. The effect of A/C works at any temperature. Yes i am not disputing the fact that it works in any temperature, what i mean is blowing more cold A/C air in is - "not nice on a allready cold day"
  17. I also found the lex steaming up more than any of my other cars, i think it has to do with the cabin being so air-tight, A/C deff helps, not nice on a allready cold day, but also like said above, do not use the re-circ air, heat the air from outside the car instead, this doesn't totally cure, but helps mine greatly.
  18. Welcome along mate, Tidy looking 200 you have there, lowering will look the part, standard se springs & alloys make them sit quite high, keep us posted as to how you get on.
  19. Nice to see you've done your homework, getting your dealer to sort out the key prob is the way to go, that stung me in the pocket big time when i bought mine. hope you also took a couple of cd's to try the stereo aswell mate. Anyway, welcome to the club, hope you enjoy the motor when you get it
  20. THREE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED MILES surely not, that's still not run in properly!!!!!!! Pic's - Pic's - Pic's mate, everybody loves Pic's
  21. Error 3 is disc jam, hopefully yours has sorted itself out, but normally when error 3 is seen, that's it, goodbye headunit and folks have to butcher the unit to retreive the cd's jammed inside. there was a thread a while back where someone had theirs repaired for around £100 by an independant trader, but Lexus will hit your wallet hard to replace, normally always one on the bay, but come time it probably will die the same way!!!
