I drove my car real hard on Saturday night, but only for about 2 miles in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear with the revs somewhere between 5000 and redline (hit redline twice). It was awesome. However since then the cars feels completely different. It sounds a bit louder and seems eager on the move. The acceleration from standstill is a bit duller though. I dont normally hard the car hard. Have i done any long term damage to the car? The car has done only about 1700 miles. I read about a reset of the ECU. is it the thing for me? if so, How do i do it?

does painting them prevent corrosion? (I saw a few at the Toyota Factory and they look real cool). I remember reading a thread where painted callipers were deemed to be a sign of acceptance of the car.

So its collective whinging by owners but no constructive solutions by Lexus. Interesting to see what will come out of mine. I am just worried about the rippping out of the headlining.

My IS 200 has developed an annoying rattle at low speeds (dissappears at high speed - or the engine/tyre noise drowns it). It appears to be originating from the rear part of the sunroof and goes away when the sunroof is open. its also very loud when the sliding part is pushed back. I have booked it into the local Lexus garage for a look in, but the manager mentioned that the roof lining will have to come off and may take up to 3 days to fix. Done anyone have any experience of this noise and its solution.

whats special about them? have a bunch of sponge applicators which i normally use and polishing cloth (halford stuff) to polish it off with.

I was having a look at the Meguiars website and planning to order some stuff. Mainly looking for a shampoo and wax for regular washing and wasing. They have 1. gold class car wash 2. Gold class car wax 3. deep crystal car wash 4. deep crystal paint cleaner 5. deep crystal polish 6. deep crystal carnauba wax 7. rich suds car wash 8. soft wash gel 1,3,7,8 seem to really be the same product ie shampoos 4,5,6 seem to be some sort of package 2 seems to be a polish what do i really need.

i use wonder wheels because its meant to be the best. perhaps i should get myself a cheaper one. does the corrosion start around bits where the coating has flaked off?

In 2 heart wrenching seconds last night I managed to scuff my front left wheel. Its not massive but visible. What should I do? The car is only a month old. Should I get them refurbished? Or wait till i put some more on and then spend the money? or just wait for them to start corroding and get the dealer to fix them B) . Will a dealer replace kerbed wheels? How long before I might start to see some corrosion on the wheels? What causes it. Is this a problem (corrosion) that drivers is London have noticed. All advise welcome. Meanwhile I am off to sulk some more.

As someone who converted from a BMW 320 to a Lexus I would say that the BMW seems more thought out, better ergonomics, classier interior and smarter looking. The Lexus on the other hand is awesome value for money, very well built and extremely reliable. It does suffer from anonymous looks (have I opened a can of worms here???), an interior that clashes and a general lack of attention to detail that seems to affect all jap cars. Overall I was cheesed off by the attitude of BMW dealers and I cant say I have regrets about my IS200 SE. However I WOULD prefer a 330 Ci if I could afford 32k and wait for 6 months. -

since i started this topic and people from all over london have volunteered to come in am i allowed the final say on the location :P . greenwich park/ blackheath sounds like a good idea.. parking can be a bit tight though.

I have seen atleast 3 IS200's and a few other Lexus's in the SE16 area of London. If the owners are on this forum do you fancy meeting up? Might me the 'most' local Lexus club in UK.

yes car brokers are no problem. all they ask you to do it make payments directly to the dealers from whom they get commissions. alternatively use the car brokers prices as your highest price and start haggling. worked for me

Picked up my new Astral Black SE with Oakam interior. Driven it 400 miles already. Cant wipe that silly grin of my face. Its an awesome car. Grabs attention.. more than my BMW 323 Sport coupe, more than my Merc CLK 230.... Only regret - Black gets dirty too quickly. Small price to pay. Pity none of the current Lexus colours are as nice.
