  1. Charcoal for the flavour and traditional experience. You need a 30 min headstart to get the coals nice and hot. Gas anyday for the convenience.
  2. This sux mate. I make an effort to park next to nice new cars in the hope that they care for their own cars is not mine. Hope it get it sorted soon.
  3. Quick Update - Received a quote from Croydon for about 2100 for the repairs. Waiting for a quote from Bromley.
  4. I've had a look at his selling history and a number of people have withdrawn negative feedback. You could start buying stuff off ebay with a new ID and it wont make a difference to sellers that you are an ebay virgin without a track record. He runs a business and needs a clean track record. I doubt if he's at liberty to start selling with a new ID. If you're happy to walk off without the money, just get a new ebay ID and screw the guy over.
  5. Also order a perimeter alarm and a flame thrower
  6. Second that. AOL is a pile of rubbish. Uninstall it. But then I would say that as I am a Microsoft hating techie.
  7. Are you saying maneesh that you can take a Lexus there for regular servicing and not affect the warranty? What is SMMT?
  8. 80% in london. hardly ever brake or accelerate hard. whats the difference between alignment and tracking? Where should I get it done? I run 34 fronts and 38 rear. Usually 2 persons in the car.
  9. Fair point. Didnt have options after spending £85 on mats.
  10. The 10k service report that the dealer prepared made strange reading - figures are inside, middle, outside in mm Front right - 4,6,5 Front left - 4,6,5 Rear right - 5,6,5 Rear left - 5,6,5 1- I would have expected the rears on a rear wheel drive car to be wearing down faster. 2- Front are wearing faster on the inside than the outside. Is that normal? 3- tyres seem to be wearing faster on the edges than on the centre. Is that under-inflation? I have Bridgestone Potenzas on 17's with 6500 miles on them
  11. Why is it then that people reset their ECU's?
  12. P/x 'ing the wife is not un option unfortunately :( cant justify getting a hatchback for her either as I do only baout 6-7k per year. I suppose I'm going to have to take both the 200 and 300 autos for long test drives to get a real feel. Else - convince her to take up driving the manual. I love my car too much to trade it in for a slightly older used car.
  13. I got the cream interior mats. They look really nice. However I have put in transparent plastic mats from Halfords on top of cream ones. The clear mats still keep the interior looking nice and bright and dont dirty the carpets.
  14. Got my car serviced over the weekend. Supplied my own oil. Came in at just 65 quid. Not bad eh!! Car does seem a bit smoother and the power delivery is better. Do they do anything to the car for that change to happen or is it the better quality oil or is it just me? Thinking of resetting my ECU? What difference will that make?
  15. I need some advise. Wife refuses to drive the car saying that the manual is too stressful. I was considering the IS200 Auto but I am not too sure about that decision. The IS200 manual is woefully lacking low end grunt and the lack of performance will be more obvious with the manual. The fuel consumption will also suffer. How much worse is the fuel consumption on the IS300. Any problems related to lack of low end torque? How reliable are the auto boxes? My current car is just over a year old and getting a used auto would mean trading it in for an older car. I like 4*4's and love the RX, but I simply havent got the money for one. Also like the Toyota RAV4, but the fuel consumption on the 2.0 Auto isnt much better than that on the Lexus (though the engine is more willing). I drive mostly in and around London. Any opinions especially from owners of Autos?
  16. The Lexus manual states that the Oil should be of API-SJ or API-SL grade (Sl is better than SJ). I got my car in for a 10k service this weekend and supplied Castrol GTX Magnatec 0W-30 oil (£19.99 from Halfords). Its the best oil Castrol make. Alternatively the Shell Helix Ultra is a very good oil as well but about 50% dearer.
  17. check www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk. lots of useful info there. The latest protocol for networking 802.11g is 5 times faster than the 802.11b. However for those using broadband there will be no difference in performance. the difference will is when you try to share files across PC's. It's worth spending the extra 20 quid on a 802.11g router. If your PC is sited next to the phone socket (which is where you would locate the router), you could save some money by not buying a wireless networking card for your PC. Instead use the onboard network card (or buy a new wired network card) and physically wire the PC to the router. Wireless network cards are about 30 quid. regular network cards are 7-8 quid.
  18. Going to be at Croydon to get a service. Oppurtunity for an impromptou meet...
  19. Any going to be there at about 9 am?
  20. Dave - i'll take you up on your offer. What do all these upgrades cost. What is the impact on insurance?
  21. SE London is full of uninsured and untaxed crazy drivers. If these gangs dont kill you, chances are that momentart lack of attention definitely will.
  22. I am tempted to consider fitting the SC to my IS200. Few questions - - Could I test drive a car fitted with the SC to get a feel for the performance? - What impact does it have on the warranty? - Fuel consumption? - what other parts need to be changed ie tyres, brakes, suspension, exhaust.
  23. with lovely 18" wheels outside Canada Water tube station.
