just doesnt have the grace of the old 6-series. did anyone see top gear on sunday. they did a shootout on the 6 series, porsche 911 and jag xk8 and all vouched for the xk8. personally i;d have the 911 over teh BMW. you're right - they had a change to make a stunning car. instead they made it look like the 5/7 series and z4 all at once.

I got the SE instead of the Sport for these reasons - Slightly cheaper insurance (about £40 pa) Softer ride from 17" wheels instead of 18" IMHO the standard 200 doesnt have enough power to justify requiring a LSD. With s/c it might be a different sorty 17 tyres are a great deal cheaper than 18's Reasons to get the Sport - Looks nicer

I have seen the 8/10/12k BTU models at B&Q and like as said they're unbranded (well atleast not a well known brand) I am not sure how good they really might be. DeLonghi are meant to be good but the wait is definitely annoying. I have seen some unknown brand ones at Costco at really good prices and might pop down to buy it.

Looking to buy a 10000 BTU portable air conditioner for the house. Anyone know what brand to buy and whats the best place to get one. Loads of them about on e-bay but nothing branded.

I've moved to the lex from a BMW 323 (E36). I think they make brilliant cars and are an even bigger marketing success. Even so I think the real 3-series to buy are the 330 petrol/diesels and the M3. Cracking cars. People drive debadged 316/318's only for the sake of being in a beemer and inspite of the fact that the engines arent bad, its kind of missing the point. The amount of kit, a bit of uniqueness and customer services made me buy the Lex. All the IS needs is slightly better low down torque for the IS200, a 2.5 litre petrol and a 2.5 litre diesel and I bet you BMW will have a serious contender on their hands. The fit and finish on the Lex is on par with the BMW's and Audis; what it probably lacks is European flair in the cabin design (but thats what sets the cabin apart as well).

Shocking px on my car. Offered 14.5 for mine (6.8k)and dealers want in the region of 17.5-18.5 for an late 52/early 03 auto under 15k.

I am ideally looking for a crossover to an auto for little to no money at all. For an IS200 I suppose that will mean similar age but 15-20k miles OR similar mileage but upto 6 months older. What are your opinions on getting a late 2001/02 car instead with reasonable mileage (upto 50k) and pocketing a 4-5k difference?

Do cars with auto-boxes come fitted with cruise control as standard? How much can I expect for my 2003/03 IS 200 SE manual with 7k miles. How much extra should I expect to pay for a similar age/mileage SE auto?

I helped my mate buy a CRV last year and was very impressed with the dealer. Very courteous and responsive. Shame their cars arent the nicest looking. Their engines are gems though. I read somewhere that they havent had a single failure reported to the V-TECH technology (17 million+ engines sold)

Quick Update - I still havent heard from Lexus GB. Had been promised by Jennifer (she is meant to be someone important) at Bromley that she would have an update for me today. No call from her. Had a chat last night with the Lexus sales guys at Bromley (Wayne) who apologised and promised to get the issue sorted. Then received a call from Kevin (after sales manager) last night to get more information on the issue. Provided him the details and he had promised to update me this morning. No calls from him. I called them 30 min back. Kevin has almost owned up to the fact that they have lost the pictures, cant find a quotation that they have claimed to have mailed me and have no clue about whats going on. He has promised to send someone out to inspect my car tomorrow and prepare a new quotation tomorrow if they cant find the one they think they have ready. Needless to say I am

I have spoken to Bromley and told them that they've had their time to come up with the goods. That ultimatum has expired. Spoken to Lexus Customer Services who initially advised me to 'take it easy'!!!! I rejected that offer and have lodged a formal complaint. They will not take up the issue with Lexus Bromley. I am begining to wonder if its really the Lexus service (definitely above average) or the quality of their cars (excellent build and reliability) thats winning them the awards. It will be shameful if Jaguar or Honda (reputed to come in a close second) pips Lexus in future JD Powers surveys.

I am appaled at the level of service I am currently receiving at the hands of Lexus Bromley with regard to getting a quote for accident repair to my car. 6 calls and promises from a proxy centre manager have resulted in nothing and as a last attempt, I am going to see if I can get the sales guys there to help out. Bromley is my local dealer and I dont really have the time to take the car out to a dealer further away to get this sorted (unless someone here convinces me thats the right thing to do). I want to formally complain about this. What would be a good point. I was thinking of shooting a letter off to the Manager at Bromley with copies to Jemca (who have recently taken over Bromley) and Lexus GB. Does anyone have an address for Jemca?

Bit late now, but I can source NEC monitors from the HP corporate site for about 20-25% cheaper than dabs/novatech. NEC 1880SX 18.1 in flat panel for 550 as opposed to 650-680 retail. Let me know if anyone wants one.
