  1. he is almost the prodigal son of a cross breed of the hulk and the Ateam!!!! Was well impressed with it though... but its funny... as im sure now that obama will be suceeded by a female president now.. as 24 seems to predict the future of the presidency!
  2. a friend of mine has an Asus eeePC 901... and its excellent, although i wouldnt probably try to run games... And i think that if your gonna let her have a laptop alone then it may be worth investing in a copy of spysure http://www.spysure.com/ I run it at work to monitor what people are doing, and its really easy to use etc and will help you make sure that she doesnt get into trouble, it allows you to monitor from a distance (i.e. your personal laptop/comp) and nobody is the wiser
  3. damn... 1st of october.... mine all went by the wayside early september!!! Certainly has lifted my spirits a little!! nice one mr bazza! So as long as the building is less than half the availiable land its all cool (excluding house) the current build is only about 15% of availiable land, so i can easily oversize it a bit more than i planned... :) :) :) :) Used to be on percentage of the house didnt it to not need planning permission? Certainly is a damn good idea though to have changed the rules seeing as nobody will be moving house anytime soon!
  4. well im convinced that my GS is a petrol SNOB.... Now she is always filled to the brim with Shell.. and once a month or twice a month a full tank of Optimax.. bearing in mind that i do about 350 miles a week. I forgot to go to my normal shell garage and was on the red and the only thing near was the Tesco petrol station... thought i was filling up with the 99 ron stuff which she does like and stupidly put in the normal 95ron unleaded...again a full tank from empty (64 litres total)... Now heres the thing.. 209 miles later the red light is on again, with shell i get 300-320 miles for a full tank! Now 90 of my driving is done with 95 ron, the previous 2 fillups were 95 ron shell... Exact same driving conditions (m20 for 35 miles each way) Why is tesco ******* so bad when there 99ron is so good! Cant wait to get some shell back in her, feel like i have neglected her
  5. old fellas already dead.. lol.. 2010 will give me enough time to get things done proppery.. if i can do it sooner i will but i always prefer to allow extra time for things to go wrong! Planning permission wise as long as i keep the bricks and mortar under 1 meter i think it can still be classed as a temoroary structure.. I plan to design the way it comes together to be almost kit like, with laser cut plates to allow bolted sections for the wood to really classify it as a temporary structure.. probably should have explored that option first as i suppose i wasted my money a little doing it this way.. but as the guiness adverts tell us.. good things come to those who wait... shame im impatient...lol still really happy though with what i have achieved alone, finaly nice to not have to work in a pop up gazeebo when it rains... lol
  6. ahh i see what you mean.. costings wise that would have been cheaper as well.. thought i had described it properly Main problem i have is that 3 houses up from mine lives a very bitter old man from sevenoaks council... and he has managed to put an end to virtualy every single planning aplication to anything that would make the houses look "different" as he likes them all to be symetrical and doesnt want to change his house!!! its a bloody nightmare, we looked into a double extension and were told not to even bother! Doing the build this way will sort me for about a year to two years untill i get another version sorted.. the wood base came to double the cost of a poured concrete base in the end, and the metal workshop alone was a bit over £1500, not to mention all the extras needed to make it work propperly for what i wanted. so far its all stood me in for about £2800 for the first phase My only problem was that i have all my workshop equipment in the house... which was taking up too much space, and when a brick built worksop was not allowed i had to go to plan b.. Some time in 2010 i hope to build a complete structure at the end of the garden, although this time i will build it over the top of the existing workshop so that is spans the width of the garden (8m) hence why i left a 1.5 meter gap to the left hand side.. then upon completion i can just dismantle the current workshop and not need to move anything.. For that stage i will do a block course two high then timber for the remaining structure keeping an peak height of 3 meters and min height of 2.4 meters.. The main thing for me though was to have a decent workspace for fabrication for my bikes over winter
  7. im wondering once i send out my companies invoices how many idiots are going to be calling up wanting the 15% vat rate.. even though they are end of month accounts... wondering if its worth just chucking a little cover letter in with them to notify that only december accounts will be at the 15% rate
  8. This whole thing is absolutely awful.. really and truely.. What is the realistic repayment time frame for 118 billion pounds? not to mention all the other money that has been borrowed? So no doubt my children (if and when i have them) will still be paying for this long after the imbicile who implimented it has died! This will do no more than bankrupt the country if things get any worse.. i mean all that borrowing to save 2p on a **** mars bar.. i would and am happy to pay the extra 2.5% to stop the country getting into more trouble.. I think what is needed is a serious overthrow of the current government.. and a long term plan to take place and lead.. Military type control untill the economy is strong again.. i think the time for people to be able to do what they want is coming to an end...
  9. @Fargo.. Not even finished yet.. not sure what you mean by more impressive.. kinda looks exactly how i described it.. its what going in there thats impressive.. Also considering that i was refused planning permission for a brick garage :(, building it by myself with little or no assistance.. not borrowed any money to build it etc.. i think im not doing too bad...
  10. how much you want for it then?
  11. when you also purchace the car you have to sign a document saying that you waive the right to complain about transmission noise and tyre noise!!
  12. CEF... they certainly are not cheap.. lol went in there for a reel of 305 meter cat 5 e and they wanted £89+ vat Popped into screwfix next door.. £55 for the same thing inc vat
  13. cat 6 should be good for a future of 10gig network far exceeding the current 1gb networks we currently have a max of.
  14. im looking to network my house at christmas.. was gonna use cat 5e and run a gigabit nework.. but cat 6 sounds iteresting.. Am having two 12 port switches running off a Linksys N rated router.. everything and i mean everything will be connected... even the workshop!
  15. yeah this has been floating for over a month now, i know someone who currently owns a import GTR and also someone waiting for the UK spec one to arrive.. The import one has only ever used it once for a Evo mag shootout at rockingham.. I do agree though, it shouldnt have it.. or you should have to sign an agreement to have it activated.. because as we are men.. if there is a go fast button.. eventualy we will press it!
  16. Pic's would be nice Chris :D This was it prior to the doors going on, all edges are fully sealed now and the workbenches and storage is in... main RCD board is in and awaiting the lecy man to connect up.. hoping to get the floor paint in tonight/tomorrow and then move in tool chests etc.. Once that is all done i can start on the 3x3 extension at the back and right side and build the path/mini drive to the main door.. After 27 years this will be my first ever garage.... (baring my unit i had when i ran CMD).. have always had sheds before.. so im a very happy bunny that i can work in the dry!
  17. very nice... how are you finding the head lights? are they the american ones on ebay? i really like them..
  18. looking really good there fella! I too know your pain... my new workshop has been 10 weeks in the making and cost double what i thought it would.. and this is only stage one.. hoping to have two main sections: Section A - Car storage working area - 4 meters x 7 meters Section B - an L shaped 6 x 6 x 3 (if that makes sense.. imagine a 6 x 3 garage with a 3x3 meter side area to make an L shape) for working on my bikes The first 6x3 meter section has just been finished and starting work on the 3x3 section now (seperate storage and compressor / spraying room - insulated for sound and warmth) Due to where my house is and its location from any local concrete batching plants for the bike workshop i did a suspended frame that was consists of about 150 meters of 6x2s combined with about 24+ concreted in posts.. 2 layers of 18mm osb and a layer of hardwood ply before the surface goes down.. the main structure is all metal.. wish i had made it all from wood as it was the metal workshop sections that made it take so long. Have got an electrician coming in to run an armoured cable and a new RCD off the board.. leading to a garage consumer unit where i will have power, compressor and lighting RCD's... Demolition was the worst phase as you well know, 3-4 weeks of getting rid of stuff.. two old sheds.. concrete bases etc etc Will be nice when its all done though as i can start on the car workshop area at the side of the house :) Would love to have one big workshop the size of yours though... looks like its gonna be a beauty.. cant beat bricks and mortar!
  19. Just to confirm the caliper body is the same, the mounting bracket will not fit! Tried a MK1 GS300 carrier on an IS200 recently and it is out by a few MM.. but enough to not line up..
  20. Don't worry, I'm not about to try starting up a metal polishing business armed with a Dremel ! Anything that can save a bit of elbow grease is good news for me ! Will try it out and see how I go. Thats what im saying, the brush and wool will take about 3-5 mins... about 10+ with the dremel
  21. shouldnt be paying more than £50-60 per wheel for a full refurb
  22. dremels are great things, but.... they have massive limitations... unfortunately good old fashoned hard work is what is best... and a lot cheaper.. Cleaning up the brackets is best done with a bit of 400 grit wet and dry paper, then finished off with wire wool.. then primed and painted. You would be there for weeks with a dremel for a finish that could be better achieved with some autosol and a rag and a finger! for the supercharger.. If you want a great finish, its gotta be a big power metal polisher if you want anything near a chrome like finish.. Dremels are primeraly for working on soft metals, or doing small intricate jobs.. They can make more work for you, and cost you more than doing it by hand
  23. just to confirm.. most OBD2 code readers will not recognise the GS300.. i have a mac tools one that will testify to that! although it works in every other bloody car i try it in - including IS200's So basicaly no... the 1999 GS300 will not allow itself to be read by a hand code reader
