  1. had a bit of extra oil in there didnt ya? ;) if its the right car im thinking of... and a new coil pack on that cylinder
  2. well i was in the exact situation a couple of weeks ago.. A lady used my door to stop hers.... my insurance wanted my to pay my excess first etc.. but i had a seperate option on my policy for my legal cover. This enabled my to get my car taken in almost imidiately and to a propper lexus approved bodyshop that is the most amazing place i have ever seen in tonbridge wells, a propper hire car was waiting for me (inititaly a Merc E280 now changed to a CLK 280 AMG pack) and all at no cost to me. The car is ready soon and was taken to the same place another member has just had a perfect respray at.. motorcare in tunbridge wells. I think the company is called Helphire and they take care of everything (although on my insurance polcy its called angel assistance) Either way the Motorcare company had aston martins, bentlys etc in there and everything was perfect.. the poshest bodyshop i have ever been... and its lexus approved! so cant argue
  3. thats definately a good price for the respray. When i had my IS200 fully bare shell resprayed in Mercedes obsidian schwartz it came to over £5500.. but at least that was about 12+ layers of paint and sealer with it being a metalic and clear coat. took about 3 months too.. and its sooo worth it when you see how nice it looks. The reason i stayed away from the stock lexus paint was to go for a 2 pack as its a bit harder and was a million times better when it came to stone chips
  4. i thought i recognised that plate... my GS300 went in there about 2 1/2 weeks ago and saw yours in there. Hoping to get my car back in a week... Suppose it stands to reason that if it took them 3-4 weeks to do a door and paint one side that a full respray would take 14 weeks.. lol Cant wait to see what my car looks like as yours looks great.. Definately the most amazingly perfect bodyshop i have ever seen there! so pristine If you dont mind me asking, how much did they charge for the full respray..
  5. just realised someone else might have posted this up too.. oops
  6. well i had the same thing happen to a friend of mine with his old aristo.. we discovered at my workshop that the plastic at the filler cap to the rad had fractured and was drawing in air.. A bit of epoxy resin cured the problem for a while but it needed a new rad in the end... best check the top end for cracks etc
  7. well i can say that i have a fair amount of experience with this on as the company i run is a ELV (End of life vehicle recycling facility) and we pay to be on the 24/7 spares type of systems.. although we did leave the 24/7 spares side of things due to it being a waste of time and only use 1st choice spares. What appears on the end of the parts person is an email stating exactly what you have written.. its that simple.. nothing else is included.. so if you asked for the specific wheel the parts guy would have read the whole lot.. if he understood what he was reading.. well it was obvious he didnt. As for where you stand.. the distance selling regs are something that we pride ourselves on living to.. basicaly you have the option to return the part for up to 3 months after purchace as long as the items are unused and in the same condition as sale.. they also have to give you an imidiate refund even prior to the item being sent back / collected. 24/7 is just a website.. they accept no responability for the items or the people they do business with.. it normaly costs about £500 a month to be a part of it.. and its basicaly a scramble once the email comes in to get it quoted and back in order to get the job... luckly for us this only accounts for less than 2% of our total business where as there are companies that rely on it about 80%.. Personaly i would call the guys where the part was purchaced from and say that you have been going through the distance selling regs and to not give you any bull****e and to immidiately apply a refund to your card and arrange collection of the wheels.. as im at home at the moment i cant remember if its the requirement of them to pay for collection of the item but you can get the items palleted for under £20.. if they dont play game tell your c/c company that you have had money fraudulenty taken for goods not supplied.. the more bad things they have scored against them they more likely they will have their ability to own a CC machine taken from them

  9. Last time i checked ferraris were also equiped with side/rear view mirrors.... And wasnt it the mirror watching (waiting for the pump handle to lift) that caused the problem! In the end.. If there wasnt so so so much bias towards ferrari then there would not be so much public outcry.. I have been relitively neutral towards supporting all of the drivers as such.. but i can no longer stand the Ferarri Teams and what they represent.
  10. In the long run lewis was being forced into a potential crash/incident by Kimi... lewis was the one that not only prevented this reckless move by kimi wiping them both out but he also conceded... is there a specific time limit / distance limit for conceding the place.. or is it a case of being safe to do so.. in which case lewis went from his left to his right and traveled behind the car.. he conceded twice.. The better driver won that race.. lewis.. kimi didnt finish due to trying too hard and not being as good as lewis in the wet.. kimi held lewis up in my opinion. but as was said before.. kimi never finished.. that manouvre didnt and couldnt effect the race outcome... And what i think worried the FIA is that the race was actualy interesting.. and wasnt just a glorified one track scalextrix session.. what will the fia do if it all goes back to "racing" not "chasing".. dont panic mr mosley... its all good.. just give lewis back the title he so rightly deserves
  11. i definately think if there was the possibility that it would go wrong then they wouldnt do it.. but please dont quote me on that if it does i will already be having a bad day.. I am really looking forward to seeing where this research takes us... could be anywhere.. personaly i feel privilaged to be living in this age where we can comprehend such thing... tell someone you were doing this 100 years ago.. they would have laughed - 200 years ago they would have beaten you - 500 years ago.. called you a demon and killed you.. Imagine if this is the start of a new age of energy.. with the building blocks of life we can do anything... But ultimately.. the bloody french have it so you soon know that if it works there will be a strike.. they will dump dead cows and pigs in it untill they get more cheese and wine for lunch.. Also for all those so glady worried about a black hole... Just remember... that currently your standing on a thin crust surrounding and absolute **** load of molten rock and larva...on a giant spinning marble with an atmosphere that keeps us from being frozen and being killed by the vacum of space... oh and we could be hit by a asteroid if not blown up by the ruskis...... so a black hole seems quite nice really
  12. newphew got a homer simpson one for christmas... i was forced to eat one of the vile creations.. im not really a fan of normal doughnuts but these are like a really bad version of an overcooked fairy cake that has gone stale...
  13. if that isnt the most James bond villan looking machine i have ever ever scene... just waiting for pictures of 007 running in with a load of SAS to take the french/swiss villan down just before they press the "on" button
  14. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=81391 have you seen his other thread... Worst thing was.. i saw this car in person and never realised he had even touched it... lol.. too much effort for white paint me thinks.. I like the effort he went to on the engine bay.. but he over did it with the engraving in the end..
  15. im gonna say no on this one... but if it does.. and the worst happens... At least france will go first.. lol.. so at least we can say we lived longer than the french! ahahhahahahaha But in reality... yes it could go wrong as they are playing with the complete unknown.. But they are also doing no more than is happening every single day in space.. And who knows... as sci fi has tought us.. there could be a wonderful world on the other side of the black hole filled with roads with no speed cameras.. sexy women and free petrol.. so what the hay.. im up for the challenge.. beats playing the lottery
  16. well i have a good comparison at the moment for the situation your in.. My GS300 was taken in for some bodywork after some idiot of a lady used my door as a door stop for her almera!!!! I was given a 07 plate E280 estate with all the bells and whistles... and to be honest.. thats about as much use as they have been so far.. just making noise. I absolutely hate the car.. it makes me feel motion sick (something no car has ever done before) its non linear with its steering and braking as each setting (C-M-S) has its own characteristic on the steering, suspension, braking and acceleration. In a week the steering column keeps falling down on me not to mention the seats, driving position lack of adjustment and bad handling... as well as making me feel like im driving an arcade game due to no physical imput because of all the electrical goodies taking care of steering etc.. I cant wait to get my lexus back.. and because they still havent assesed my car and i have the serious pox with the merc they are swapping it for a CLK 280.. .so that may be a little better.. but i want my car back without a doubt. Admittedly i have the sport.. .but it does better on fuel than the merc diesel does!! i can get 30mpg regulary at 80-85mph.. the merc does 26-28 on a good day! In the end.. im not sure where you are coming from with regards to the handling.. i can only assume other than a geometry problem that it could also be a tyre choice... my car came with Run flat tyres that it wasnt suppsoed to.. this contributed to a lot of uncomfort and noise. have them checked
  17. http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/global...mp;section=News looking really good.. really really good.. i have been keeping an eye out for a supercharger for my GS300...hmmm any ideas on costs?
  18. well when i had a set of ET35's on the car they looked a bit silly i thought.. far too pronounced towards the edge.. suppose it depends on the tyre choice at that point
  19. would probs be cheaper to mail your wheels to the states.. have them tripple chromed (6 layer if you can afford it) and sent back.. rather than pay twice as much for a pants job in this country that will take months to get done.... I know a lot of companies that although it doesnt always save them massive amounts.. send parts to america to get chromed becuase its better quality and can have a much quicker turnaround.. for example a set of forks, wheels and a few other bits for a bike that were sent monday and back friday!
  20. well you can do it easily yourself starting from about £100... Blueprint brand pads are about £23 a set and discs are about £80 for the fronts.. about the best non lexus parts i can think of for the money.. Next you have the Delphi lockheeds, mintex etc brands all of which are good but prices of pads start nearer the £50 mark for a front set and discs more in the £120+ ball park.. but of the same quality as blueprint.. but have prettier boxes
  21. when was the last time you had all your brake fluid changed? Certainly seems an off set of events there...
  22. blue print parts are excellent and extend across a large range, from brakes to filters to cabin filters and pumps.. they do the lot.. i think they do belts too. A lot of the time the parts will probably be sourced from the same places lexus do.. or exceptionaly good copies.. the brake pad feel is very good also with them as well as not too much brake dust..
  23. is it me or from this picture that was taken on a white background showing that the face of the mounting flanges are not flat and level to where the head would be. on the left hand side there is no shaddow and to the right it gets more shaddow as if its lifted from the surface.. eventualy returning to no shaddow a the far end.. makes me think that it wasnt welded in a jig properly and has warped slightly.. not a good sign from the start
  24. I really cant decide what i want with regards to the suspension needs for the GS... In reality im not remotely interested in playing with suspension settings.... as im sure i will make them worse not better.. sure you could say dont touch them... but i would.. i wouldnt be able to help myself.. which partialy discourages me from 90% of the coilovers out there.. I love the idea of the adjustable height but again.. not sure i would do it more than once... I do about 1400 miles a month.. mostly motorway.. which makes me think that a brand new set of KYB (OEM) shocks with a set of good quality springs (tein, TTE/eibach) would be good if not preferable.. the shocks i can get for £210 for all four new.. so that would mean about £160 - £220 for springs? vs £450+ for coilovers.. its such a close call.. Also ... was the sport 15mm or 20mm lower than a stock GS? becuase im assuming that all the "mm drop" are quoted for a stock GS Thank you
