  1. A quick search would have brought up many similar threads i.e. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=64029 & http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...c=63740&hl= The Federals get mixed reviews on line http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Federal/...SUPER-STEEL.htm Out of interest had anyone tried the Maxxis M35 Victra Asymmet or have thoughts on Maxxis tyres as a whole? I can get them dirt cheap through work. I'm currently running THESE Maybe we should do a pinned thread with tyre recommendations & peer reviews?
  2. Is yours manual? If someone has been playing around with shifter they may not have put the rubber seals back in correctly (or they may have just perished). I had this problem when I put my first short shifter in. I got them around the wrong way & it let lots of road & engine noise in. Worth having a look
  3. If you're looking at Castrol then you'll want the Edge 5w30. It's the same price as Fuchs though. Should be good for 10K+. The Magnatec should still be changed every 6K I would say. Have you guys seen this oil test done in Australia? & Interesting results... I use Edge in mine as I get it cheap through work & will continue to use it after seeing this.
  4. They look right to me. There's a bit of a trick to fitting the anti rattle clips. I know it took me a few goes to get them on right when I had my pads out a few months ago. Here's some pics care of my.is http://my.is/forums/f89/brake-pad-rotor-re...ttached-255699/ Lexus service PDF http://bahamutcars.free.fr/workshop/IS_98-...e/m_br_0032.pdf
  5. Get Denso - IK20 or NGK - BKR6EIX11. These are the performance Iridium plugs from both manufacturers to suit the 1GFE. They should be good for 38K. The laser iridium are a long life (62K) version. They're not as performance orientated but should still be better than Platinum.
  6. What's you budget? There was a good thread on cheaper tyres a while back http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...c=63740&hl= Toyo T1R, Hankook S1 & V12 Evo, Goodyear GSD3 F1 and Falken FK-452 all rated highly with out blowing the budget
  7. That's not a TRD lip. It's just a plane old Toyota/Lexus genuine accessory lip know as "Elegant Sports". See here - http://z4.invisionfree.com/lexusaltezzaclu...ic=9225&hl= Here's the TRD lip http://www.trdparts.jp/english/list_altezza.html
  8. Sounds like they've been subjected to some sort of abuse by the previous owner to me. Pads don't just fall apart, especially not genuine onea. They may have been over heated, cause by a seized piston possibly. Exposed to salt water or maybe even driven lots on salted roads in winter. Interesting to see what others think.
  9. There's no problem fitting 225 on the standard 7" rim & as long as the tread pattens are similar and you're happy with the grip, for £50 who cares. The AS300 Gita wagons actually come with 225/45 OE fitment on the rear, although they run a 7.5" rim.
  10. You northerners not into the Bristol sound then? cheeky sod!
  11. Supposedly if you only put a maximum of 5 disc in at a time it reduces your chances of Err3. Mine played up a few times then scratched a brand new copy of Dubstep Allstars Vol.6 which made me mad. It worked fine with the remaining 5 disc in there for a few months until I ripped it out & replaced it with an Alpine. If you want to keep the OE look & you've got an iPod then maybe look at investing in a grom interface to avoid using CDs altogether.
  12. Monster-Mat is spot on, not all Altezza come with LSD. Although you can safely say all manual RS200-Z & L editions come with them though. Ref: http://www.japanvehicles.com/newcars/toyot.../equipRS200.htm Have a look on your chassis plate for the diff code: A01A - 3.916 ratio Open Centre A01B - 3.916 ratio Torsen LSD A02A - 4.083 ratio Open Centre A02B - 4.083 ratio Torsen LSD ('B' denotes LSD) If your car is tail happy I would say that has more to do with the tyres. Mine was also pretty tail happy when I got it but since changing the rear tyres to some decent Bridgestone asymmetrical treads (Potenza RE001) it has so much grip. If you want to lose traction now you have to drop the clutch rather than just press the gas pedal.
  13. Sorry I think I may have mixed my links up there & put you wrong. (I've fixed them now) You'll need THIS kit. I can't seem to find it on the UK site though. Drop them an email & see if they keep it or can get it in for you.
  14. Like I said you can't use an OEM Clutch with a solid JUN flywheel. Maybe try Prolex & see what the can do, or track down your local Exedy stockist.
  15. Yep it would be fine on a standard engine. Will improve throttle response & acceleration. Only down side is you'll lose revs quicker on hills. Just be sure you order the right flywheel as there are two options: What clutch kit are you planing to use? The 1G-FE is equipped with a duel mass flywheel from factory & as you're planing to change it to a solid type you'll have to use the appropriate kit to suit. (the OE clutch wont work the Jun flywheel). Exedy do a kit for the solid flywheel http://exedy.com.au/SpecSheet.aspx?SpreadsheetRowId=62668 & Complete clutch kit inc flywheel http://exedy.com.au/SpecSheet.aspx?SpreadsheetRowId=62667 & OE replacement http://exedy.com.au/SpecSheet.aspx?SpreadsheetRowId=62666
  16. no You could with a piggyback fuel ECU like an Apexi SAFCII or Camcon. Just not sure if the expense would be justified in power increase?
  17. I'm surprised there's not more 3SGE conversions going on over in the UK, especially with TTE no longer making the compressor kits. Would be pretty straight forward swap, depending on what your laws are like regarding transplants. 210hp definitely bring the chassis to life :winky:
  18. You running the 5AT or 4AT? Should be able to handle 250hp no worries. There's one guy who's been running 7psi on ACNZA for a few years now without any issues on his 5AT.
  19. Some good reading to be had here on turboing your 3SGE http://z4.invisionfree.com/lexusaltezzaclu...?showtopic=7121
  20. Try changing your gearbox oil. I would highly recommend using RedLine MT-90 I had a similar issue but since changing to MT-90 it only happens on the odd occasion now but I think that's more to do with the hand being faster than the foot . I also have a TRD direct clutch line sitting in the cupboard waiting to go in so we'll see if that improves things further.
  21. Yes they did. If it had the optional "super live system" then they had an amp just like an IS200You're wasting your time & money with the OE headunit anyway IMO. When mine started playing up I ripped it out & replaced it with an Alpine CDA-9886. The improvement in SQ was immediately noticeable. Now I have a CD player with USB input, full speed iPod contol & with the option to add bluetooth, sat/HD radio & imprint modules if desired.
  22. Yellow can look pretty cool. I contemplated getting one with the full legana kit but ended up buying a plane old Millennium Silver one with a elegance kit before I had a chance to look at it. Here's a few examples
  23. Like griderjn said look for a RS200 Z or L edition. They come with factory torsen LSD, spot lights, privacy tints on the rear windows, traction control & 17" wheels with either a 6MT or 5AT. The L edition has half leather seats & side airbags on top of this. There are also lots of factory options like super live sound system, sat nav, sun roofs, body kits etc. Never heard of these sports dials thought. About '01> do have a digital display under the fuel guage. Maybe you're thinking of the Modellista Qualitat model that had a optional sports dials with a 10K rev counter in the centre like the TRD ones. http://z4.invisionfree.com/lexusaltezzaclu...?showtopic=9225 Here's a couple of good sites to give you an idea of what the options & specs are http://www.japanvehicles.com/newcars/toyota/Altezza/main.htm & http://english.auto.vl. ru/catalog/toyota/altezza/ & http://www.net-park.co.jp/etc/toyota/oldtoyota_cat.php As for the AS300 they only came in wagon/Gita form with auto trans & 4WD. If you're browsing forums, then the ACNZA is another good one to look at. Probably has more info on it than TW.
  24. I think you problem is miss matched tyres rather than the Goodyear being at fault. I assume you're talking about the GSD3 F1 like we are. If you were to swap it from one side to the other it wouldn't work as they're directional tyres. Put two tyres on, preferably the same model, at least the same tread pattern & try again.
  25. You could try one of these & hook your iPod up http://www.gromaudio.com/store/ipod_adapte...rom-i2-toy.html But in all honesty you're better of ripping the factory head unit out & replacing it with a nice Alpine or Pioneer unit. The SQ will be far superior.
