  1. Dont know what a BMC unit is but have a look on the GS300 site on 17th Sept 'VSC Lights' started by 39buss. My VSC was triggered by the LPG man's code reader. Hope this helps.
  2. A car the same as yours' was in Sainsbury's car park in the Galleries at Washington earlier this week. Was it you?. There's been someone on here who runs an LS and works at Nissan. Coincidence?? !!
  3. Thanks for all your input Adam, I'm sure all who have been following this will be delighted for the guide lines on fitting an LPG system. My car goes really well and returns good MPG and I dont clog my cars so I'll stick with it. The EML is annoying and you're right, if something was wrong with the car then I wouldn't know, so I'll look to buy a code reader so that I can switch it off when necessary. Taking the bulb out isn't an option. I would like an LS430 but it won't fit in the garage so maybe a GS430 and have a new LPG system fitted. No rush, as in the few months I've had this car, I've been through it and sorted it properly so nowt more to do.
  4. "......................................" speechless !!!!! Can you upload some photos of under the bonnet seeming as though you said that they are unhappy with the install. I'm wondering if the problem can be spotted just by looking at what is installed. i.e if the vaporiser is the small 140bhp and you give it a load of right foot it will clearly run weak putting your light on If the injectors are old skool and are too slow to keep up with the car this can happen too Here are 3 pics of main LPG components
  5. Hi Adam, Afraid I've never used a digital gadget on any car and reluctant to do so, and would rather not faff on in case I begger up any or all of the settings. Thanks.
  6. We're cabined up and hatches battened down today as the Force 10 heads South. When it clears I'll post pics. This system is second hand. It came off one of the sellers previous cars, so no idea how old it is. The seller has 4 cars, 3 x V8's and an XF Jag all of which he's gassed himself.
  7. Followed the above info and now when the Lexus Logo comes on with the ignition, press the Audio or Climate before the 'I Agree' appears, whichever is your preferred screen, and it stays on.
  8. Spoke too soon!!. After nearly 4 weeks, which is the best I've done, the EML came on again. I've had it turned off along with another 5% adjustment. LPG'er isn't happy about the installation and has suggested a module to rectify the EML problem or take out the bulb. I'll see how this goes and maybe try a different LPG place.
  9. Look at your spare wheel. All the info is stamped on the inside rim of the wheels. Do you want to put different style 17"s on.
  10. I had a little play about with it following the above suggestions before it got dark and now the audio screen stays on. I'll see if I've got to 'I agree' tomorrow. I'll also do the above and see what happens.
  11. Where would I get this type of bulb please. Its from the Snow/ECT/PWR rocker switch next to the seat heaters. Maplins?? Just like to have everything working.
  12. 210 miles around the doors on 30 quids worth, 42 litres of LPG at 69.9ppl. Into the 2nd week and the EML still off. Dont speak too soon!!
  13. Thanks Adam, if the light comes back on I'll ask my regular garage, next time I'm there to read the codes, and I'll note them, as he does mine for nowt. The family have used him for donkeys years.
  14. I'll have to try that on my 51 reg GS300. I think the same way as cruisermark, having to press 'agree' every time I start up, but my S/N stays on as if its the default setting even if I press other options. I would like mine to show the Audio all the time. I'll try the above suggestions when it stops snowing and the frost goes away.
  15. Hi Adam, I've been away for a few days and just wondered if you had any more thoughts on my EML intermittent problem. Its still off since last week when it was done so fingers crossed.
  16. First time it was done the EML was off for about a week and the same when I had it done the second time. I ran the car until the tank was empty to establish how much LPG I could get in. The seller told me it was 55litre tank. Anyhow, it took 46 litres which sounds right and I did 213miles, mostly round the doors. During this time the EML came on, as usual, and then went off after about a week, then on again about a week later, so pretty regular. After running out of LPG I drove for about 8 miles on petrol and then filled up(46ltrs) and when I pulled away the EML went out and stayed off for.....guess!! about a week. So, it was done again yesterday and we'll wait and see how long its off. LPG North East Jarrow NE32 3RA. BIGAS ECU. Stako tank. Dont know the injectors. I've put a thread on the GS forum a few weeks ago which may be helpful. Not sure about the codes but he said it was weak. I assume he's increasing the mixture by 5% increments each time I've had it back.
  17. The LPG'er I'm using has been in business 10yrs and recently opened new premises near me. Before that, he was in the motor trade 30 yrs. I bought the car with LPG on it and took it to him to check and he said there's no need to be running around with the EML on. It needs the mixture adjusting and its got to be done in 5% increments. If it comes on again bring it back as it only takes 5 minutes to adjust. Do this till its OK. I've been back 4 times over about 2 months and yesterday he had a right miserable heed on him and said ..its a Lexus, you may have to put up with it or take the bulb out. One more thing which he wont accept is his code reader triggers my VCS lights but thanks to this great forum I now know the paper clip cure. If the light comes on again I'll take it back and bollocks to his miserable mood. Your reply and his initial assessment are pretty much on a par but he's turned into a right misery.
  18. Hello Adam, now that all is revealed, I would hope you wont mind answering a few questions about LPG which have cropped up on here many times, as there are plenty LS and GS members running on LPG. I'll start the ball rolling and ask, why do some systems trigger the EML and is there a solution to this problem. Thanks.
  19. Just wondering what you pay for your gas. It's about 69.9 up here at the moment. Morrison's are cheaper but its over 20 mile round trip. Not worth it.
  20. I tried this on my 51 MK2 gs300 without success. It would be nice to know if there is a code in case the battery has to be disconnected sometime.
  21. IanS200 and Tigerfish, Thanks for your excellent pics and info. I did the job this morning in under half an hour. I had my 14mm socket and big bar on yesterday but thought if this breaks or I turn it the wrong way or something snaps,I'm in the clarts so decided to seek advice. We're going to Harrogate for a few days next week and certainly didn't want to risk that belt. £27 from Lexus Newcastle but worth every penny for peace of mind and another little job done on my 'new' car.
  22. How do I get the tension off the pulley to change the aux belt. It looks like the top one in the middle but I can't see how it moves. On other cars I've had there was a hole on the arm where a lever went so as to release the tension. Thanks in advance.
  23. As TigerFish said earlier on this thread, was anything done to trigger the VSC lights to come on. You're symptoms are the same as mine, ie. as soon as I drove a few yards back or forward the lights came on. The LPG'ers code reader triggered mine and following the above procedure, pins 4 & 14, sorted it.
