  1. true but oooh what a replacement !! comfy like a lazyboy and remapped to 170 too - ill have to change my moniker to ES y nik
  2. gone and done it !!! 2002 discovery es facelift fsh etc etc - got good trade in for the lex as well - managed to keep the two oem lexus keyrings, tax disc holder ( brushed alloy) and the new oem chrome gearknob i bought in jan so will probably put that lot on ebay if i dont keep em as momento,s - goodbye lexus is200,, ill still pop in here from time to time - thanks for all your help guys what an invaluable site so full of good advice and people apart from the reccomendations to go to wim
  3. lloyd my mate is trying to talk me into an ml too - does seem to be a few about, might go test one but got my heart set on an es really - just waiting for a call from main dealer in dorset as they have one at sensible miles but wont accept cash for it ???? so will have to pay by card and wait three days before shlapping back down there to collect !! crazy-i know its to stop money laundering but i have nothing to hide in that respect so annoying,,still fingers crossed - parthibian need a seven seater as need to fit in two full siza babyseats and two full size passengers as well as myself
  4. Hello all , as you may know ive not been on here for a bit as trying to replace the is200 with a discovery es or shogun warrior so seem to be doing mega miles and then the suppoosedly better cars the other end are just not right in some way ie hpi fail, crash repaired unrecorded, doggy engines , doggy gearboxes , and just plain drive like a bag of s**t by comparison to my is - getting good offers on the is unsurprisingly as it has fsh and every old mot to prove low miles and is totally hpi clear as well as looking great but i have to say these features are hard to find imo on the kind of car im after without paying over the odds - so the lex and i have munched a lot of miles the last few weeks and it hasnt missed a beat and puts most cars im test driving at £8k very firmly in the shade - what a shame its too small as id be in the right car already
  5. should have had two cambelts done at that mileage by rights - mine will be going on there very soon if i pick up new car this afternoon - will be a low reserve for a fast sale
  6. you have to pay to be a gold member to advertise there mate - contact admin i think its £25
  7. mines fully serviced at main dealer but i found adding a bottle of slick 50 made it considerably more economical, especially on long runs
  8. interesting sales pitch !! where else can you put a relatively small amount of money ? - nice to see a car kept in that condition though, someone must of passed away to let it come on the market now or maybe the credit crunch is starting to hurt - bet the vendor didnt pay 1/4 the asking price
  9. at a guess the smell must be caused by bacteria in the pipes a bit like can happen with aircon although ive never heard of it in a washer bottle - you can buy washer fluid with a air freshening smell to add but if it was me id just add bog standard undiluted stuff and squirt your jets till the whole lots gone a few times-should clean the whole system as its anti-bac as well
  10. lol, i wish it was a buyers market but as a buyer who has money to spend on a car regardless of p/ex deals or the lex i still cant find a 4x4 with service history and low mileage that fits the bill at sensible money without driving to scotland - when i wanted a lexus is200 i looked for at least 6 weeks or more to find a nice one so i guess patience is a virtue
  11. Have put mine on a local rag to shift her on HERE,at this price i would lose about about £500 from what the car owes me - when i bought it in jan it booked at £2600 in glass,s so i think its cheap as chips considering its had cambelt, waterpump etc and is low mileage for year - am desperately in need of a seven seater or similar type 4x4 in preparation for winter and to cope with a new arrival in the family ( is 200s just dont cope well with two babyseats and two adult passengers ) so have been looking actively for a shogun di-d or discovery es diesel at the right price and in good condition - have driven miles to look at cars which turn out to be sheds or just plain horrible so if anyone knows of a nice 4x4 please let me know-question is will it sell and does anyone know what the glass,s guide for this would book at now ?
  12. i did indeed , went away as soon as a clip was fitted - i went to a scrappy cos i thought the clip was only available as part of a fitting clip set costing about £70 from lexus but i read since then you can order a clip on its own from main dealer much cheaper - sorry dont have the part no but pop in a lex dealer and theyll dig it out and a price pretty quick im sure
  13. had the same problem - got one from a scrapyard in the end - dont have a spare one sorry
  14. thanks ken - for what its worth i put slick 50 in mine a while back which really improved mpg figures which were after spending a lot of money on servicing at lexus truly quite terrible especiallly on a run when you would expect to see a big difference - plus i dont use cruise control much anymore, not sure if that is a major factor on a run mpg wise but it could be as it doesnt anticipate traffic or hills as well as a human brain maybe - so Timmy you could realistically get 180 miles or less if you drive round town enthusiastically for £50 or maybe 320 miles plus on a run cruising at the speed limit
  15. To give you an idea of what i get , the other day a friend asked me for a lift to pick up a new/2nd hand car from kent but so i brimmed my tank as we set off which cost me £26 for the 92 miles of town/non economy minded normal driving i had done - then i cruised to kent at a steady 70mph where applicable and back - the return journey came to 152 miles at which point i rebrimmed the tank at the same petrol station for £22 - not sure if it helps at all but they are accurate examples of what to expect mpg wise, mines an auto and fsh
  16. Gutted for you mate - check detailing world out ! some good tips on touching up stonechips and scratches, even if its only temporary until you get it sorted out so it doesnt bug you so bad every time you look at it
  17. if your gonna be doing 400 miles a week- depending on fuel costs where you are the lex is gonna be a drain - not sure what the tezza is like on fuel tbh but it might be cheaper to run
  18. ROFL- it really needs one of those shiny teeth daewoo type fleabay grilles to complete the look imo
  19. Check under the bonnet from the nozzles to see if any hoses have split or come off connecters allowing pressure to drop - not had it on a lex but have on other cars - the join pieces have one way valves on sometimes to ensure you have water at the jets as soon as you need, these often leak - open bonnet and spray washers and look for obvious leaks - hope it helps
  20. innit - and described as new in every way !!!
  21. Was browsing autotrader to get an idea of whats out there before i advertise my is and saw this one - must be pushing the boundaries of description, what are your thoughts HERE edit - can a mod change the thet to a they in the title please as didnt read before posting if possible
