  1. its worth a try mr leki - from the sound of it you succesfully flushed your rad but thats not where your blockage is - did any crud come out when you did that ? did it have antifreeze in it when you got it ? and if so what colour was it ? remember REVERSE flush works best when going the opposite direction to normal so you will need to work out which way the water circulates for best results
  2. hello mate and welcome to the club ! problem 1 and 3 are probably linked tbh - if its rear hub bushes you refer to you can get the bushes off ebay for £50 each to save buying whole hubs - is200 should be quite smooth at speed so defo got a problem somewhere
  3. i would reverse flush it before ripping all the dash out mate - theory is that your water only circulates in one direction in your system as pumped by your waterpump, if you stick some radflush stuff in the system then after a day or so remove your thermostat so nothing impedes the flow of water and insert a hose into a removed radiator top pipe for example and force water the other way to normal thru the system and out the open orifice ( cos you have a pipe off) you will remove a lot of crud from the system - i have done this with a number of cars in the past with great and surprising results ( large lumps of stuff coming out) - it is quite simple to wrap a cloth round a hosepipe and stuff it in a hole - afterwards refit thermostat and antifreeze etc - much easier then removing dash and high chance of success in my opinion - please take advice from your mechanic as to my advice
  4. could also be extra slow due to eml light being on and car possibly in limp home mode - oh think of the power it might have !!
  5. yeah sorry but look on it as a starting point - theres one there at £80 so just try and find one nearer and cheaper or delivered in red would be even better
  6. gatwick airport sorry mate thats miles from you i just realised
  7. couldnt say for sure tbh but could be - i was looking for a green one for ed when i was in there - was £80 for one in mint condition to give you an idea of prices
  8. oh rory sorry to see this - as you say it can happen in an instant - at least no ones hurt and if you fix the car yourself and avoid insurance it wont devalue the car - so sorry but i know it will look even better with the new lip etc - loadsa bonnets at bridges, pretty sure no red ones though
  9. you can haggle with main dealers - just speak to the service manager and haggle hard - i got mine from an original quote of £1250 down to £850
  10. sounds like you have an airlock - not worked on the lex cooling system but sometimes removing the thermostat and doing a reverse flush will clear any phsical blockages - airlocks are usually resolved with bleed screws or worst case scenario parking the car facing up a really steep hill and running it on tickover with the rad cap off so any air trapped in the system rises to the highest point ie the open cap and leaves the system - i would get it checked properly though or take it back and ask them to bleed the system again
  11. THANKYOU Dr Barrie - wheels collected and much appreciated - hope you like the keyrings - what a lovely set of wheels and a beutiful car you have
  12. yup dave it looks that way - agreed to buy a 300 off a mate last nite purely as it has 38,000 genuine miles on it and too cheap to pass up - always wanted a 300 tbh and its full leather and nav but no skirt kit - not getting it till next week so my mate can use it to look for a new car
  13. Hi dr barrie - emailed you to arraange collection - would be much appreciated as would give me a set to get refurbed as the 300 im getting has scruffy wheels on
  14. i didnt like my one i got for £1 from bridges once it was on anyway tbh - £25 is way way too much for a centre l badge that doesnt quite seat properly although could be trimmed down
  15. looking back on my time with my 200 and considering its mpg i have come to the conclusion that the is200 has a much smaller then average "sweet spot" regarding mpg ie the way you drive it to achieve sensible, ish mpg figures has to be constantly within such tight perameters that it is quite easy to wreck your figures with slightly too much right foot and also quite possible to drive in the "happy zone" almost by accident as the car seems most economical when driven in a very lexusy unhurried manner if that makes sense - this kind of makes sense when you see a lot of long term owners getting very consistant figures whilst cruising around in their their trusty steeds whereas relative newbies to the marque or model are possibly still seeing how the car performs and what it will or wont do performance wise - most cars i think have a wider margin wherein economical, ish figures are achieved - this theory is largely based on the fuel figures i got at the end of my relationship with my is
  16. all the parts to fix it are sitting in a scrapyard at pease pottage mate - search "spares galore" hope it helps
  17. trade value is £1850 ish - you ought to get that or a bit more at a push at a main dealer
  18. ormi nearly everyone who worked on my is apart from lexus hashed their work - greedy for what these items cost i would defo renew at the same time you get new discs and pads fitted . also as ormi says if the bottom pistons are sticking it used to be possible to pump them out further then usual with the pads removed and clean off built up brake dust which accumulates into hard crud and stops the piston retracting fully - its not a full refurb just a clean up but id have the garage do that to unless ormi knows a better way
  19. just search on ebay usa for the best buy it now price with delivery - as said they seem to be a lot lot cheaper from over there
  20. pm sparkystav mate - he knows all about those things and might not of seen your post or im sure he would of helped with a bit of advice
  21. allways good to hear top tips from a toyo tech - ormi i know youve said the slider pins can be cleaned up and i bow to your knowledge but am i right in thinking on one slider pin on each caliper theres a washer or grommit thing which can wear and cause a knock ( made of metal i presume) ?
  22. hello mate - a good thing to read could be member "tigerfish" profile where he has some really good info on walkthroughs pinned in his banner/signature - it sounds like you havent replaced the caliper slide pins and locating dowel thingy bit yet, these can cause clunking and also possibly other problems ie warped discs i would imagine in a worst case scenario - i believe these parts are cheap so if it was me in your situation i would get them changed as part of the process of elimination of the fault and the cause - anyway have a read thru tigerfishes walkthrough in case its relevant to your problems - his car is a gs300 but i believe the brakes are identical
  23. Mars got one like that from my link - search - spares galore . pm mars and ask him if theres any more like that there
  24. ha ha - no i dont but ive just had the disco serviced and i will be sticking it in that very soon as well - felix sorry you didnt get better figures at least they didnt deteriorate though , maybe on yours you drive it very economically already and theres not much gain to be had with the the lpg savings already - lovin the disco tbh - its returning very similar mpg figures to the lex which is surprising when you consider the size and weight of the thing combined with the aerodynamics of a brick wall and constant 4wd so pleased there seem to have swapped a few lexussy always get em problems for discovery always get em problems but nothing major ie windscreen leak and a ps fluid leak on the disco steering box but repairs all in hand now its had its service history brought up to date - yea i got two centre leather armrests with this one chaps and just had the third one in the middle recovered in matching leather - starting to think about detailing it but not got the energy just yet as it took me four hours just to get the wheels up to scratch with loadsa elbow grease - aircon serviced and blowing an icy wind seens colder and stronger then the lex - gotta admit its so nice to drive and cos some points came off my licence i was paying £2600 pa tpft on the lex,now paying £1400 fully comp on the disco so its all good !! bring on the snow !! - ps loadsa landrover forums but all seem a bit slow so hope you lot dont mind me chipping in over here every now and again
  25. would be my guess trueblue - as mattc said though akhtar u should get it all checked though in case its something more serious
