  1. tbh i always thought it was best to "dry store" a car although im not sure on the exact process or the length of time of storage it applies to ie could be for 3 years upwards maybe but i think it involves draining all the fluids from the car on storage ie fuel, antifreeze oil etc - not sure why or if its a modern method - on a slightly more relevant note you will probably have to replace most water hoses when you start using it again as they tend to go brittle and pop leaks after about a year of storage in my own experience
  2. dont forget to declare it as sorn to save paying roadtax for the year too
  3. what a good original post quaisser ! always meant to write something nice about the lexus myself as i dont feel many people really vocalise how much they like or love their car on forums which quite often are a place for problem airing, solving and such but are also a place for likeminded enthusiasts to gather to praise their marque I love the shape of the is , in my humble opinion it is a future classic much like the mk1 golf gti in the memories it evokes - for me the is200/300 will always be beautiful to look at in years to come
  4. never use car washes but pressure wash a lot - no worries at all mate the door is more likely to0 fall off then the deflecter - they are ROCK solid - really sticky so make sure you line em up carefully when you put em on - its a piece of cake to do but i wouldnt wanna try and take one off afterwards coos they really do stick - youll love em
  5. no sorry mate now you mention it i never took any with em on and now ive sold it !! silly really - dont worry though they are real real good solid things - one of my best ebay purchases imo - before they arrive check your doors line up exactly and havent dropped at all as can sometimes happen-if so get it realigned so deflecters go on straight and look perfect
  6. sounds like the ones i got then - i take it they got more stock in - they took about 2-3 weeks to arrive but amazing quality for the price-well worth the money imo
  7. oh i didnt mean the ones you did mate it looks good - meant a full and proper strip/paint powdercoat/machine and lacquer plus remove and put tyres and wheels on and off the car in one day and then drive away sounds very unlikely
  8. looks good bobba - id seriously doubt one day is enough to strip and redo a set of wheels anyway given the stripping process and drying times etc
  9. a good idea if you are not worried about keeping the oem look
  10. ian read thru patricks thread in the link i posted to see the easy option
  11. just p/exed mine , price dropped £200 this month in glasses on a 99 t reg from £2050 to £1850 - depends what your buying and how much you are paying but i got offered £1500 - £2600 depending on the dealer
  12. no problem mate - heres patricks HERE - I NEVER DID IT BUT GAVE IT SOME THOUGHT - PROBLEM WITH PATRICKS COULD BE UPDATING CAMERA ALERTS AND NO DVD ETC SO IF U USED AN ALPINE SCREEN YOU COULD LINK IT TO A BRAIN IN THE BOOT AND FREEVIEW DIVERSITY TV ( THE ONE WITH TWO AERIELS FOR IMPROVED RECEPTION AND A DVD PLAYER THEN LINK that back to oem head unit using a grom adapter - sorry for caps diddnt realise they were on - not sure how it would work but in theory it should - screens can be had for £70 upwards ( doesnt have to be alpine, diversity tv recievers come up on ebay for £80 sometimes, grom is about £80 - more for new stuff obviously - remaining problem is the satnav but must be a way to do it but might need a touchscreen which would be more expensive
  13. go and get one out the scrappy link i posted recently - about three there with remote controls and different satnav centre bits all complete - get everybit of wiring and im told as long as your chassis no doesnt start with 18 they fit - check with forum experts first though to be sure - or just get the airvent and screen bit and put a sony nuvi screen in like patrick or fit an alpine screen and freeview tv/dvd etc incorporated with satnav
  14. ditto felix ive heard bad things about mls too - never got to test one thankfully as bought a discovery td5 es with a remap - performance and economy seems a bit better then the is200 which is a shocker from a brick shaped diesel - mind you its early days yet and i will be calculating figures after a few brim ups
  15. d6ngr - i do sympathise as i spent literally thousands on mine in the six months i had it - glad to move on in many respects
  16. the phone ops dont know or care what cars are there mate - im in brighton - certainly plenty of fog lamps there if you follow above directions - yes they do let you take the parts yourself but they watch you to see you dont steal and also you need your own tools
  17. i think that works out cheap - its about £900 i think over here - could be wrong
  18. Hello all , in case im not about and anyone needs spares desperately im posting this so you all know where to find all the complete is200/300 spares you need - complete cars in all colours with nice interiors, engines, full satnav systems etc - all virtually untouched - a treasure trove in my opinion tbh - BRIDGES SCRAPYARD - 01293 523684 PEASE POTTAGE A23 nr gatwick airport . this is a massive place with many areas - the phone operaters do noty know what is cleared and stocked for breaking so dont waste time phoning and asking , if you need spares go to the above scrapyard MONDAY - FRIDAY only and ask for - TERRY - the cars are locked in an area known as the FRONT FIELD - only TERRY has keys and access to this area and he doesnt work weekends - the general public do not usually go in this area so cars are unscavenged !! as per many scrapyards these guys have attitude so if you make the trip please be polite - dont go sightseeing as you may annoy em if you dont buy anything after they let you in this bit no one knows about - wings, doors, bonnets etc i was quoted at £80 each if immaculate as a price guide - pretty much everything is readily available except trd/'tte spoilers etc although there were a few boot spoilers there - ENGINES GEARBOXES,BRAKES,ETC,ETC - no full leather in good nick though or i would of had it for mine already - member Mars was there recently and may know what colours of things were there Hope it helps someone,,,Nick
  19. bazza thats what i thought - a standard 300 ought to be cheaper to insure then a modded 200 supercharged or turbo,d imo
  20. truckwash was a chemical we used to use in car valeting days- add a tiny bit in the water or carpet steamer, take the seats out etc and give the whole interior a full valet - have a look on detailing world for a modern solution thats ph neutral or find a good valet company that will do a full steam and valet on it for you - also have you had your aircon cleaned recently cos you might be using it and can be lots of germs in there that can cause problems in some people
  21. ill put some pics up maybe - gearknob was £32 from lexus so cheap really - i may keep em or see if a couple of people on here who have been a big help to me need em and just give them to them if they need em tbh - not sure really as never seen keyrings like em but too nice to let go with the car, look oem to me - taxdisc holder is the proper lexus engraved oem one which you have to undo 6 allen key bolts to change the tax disc !! also got a set of plastic mouldings for underneath the car if anyone has a set which are cracked and need replacing , free to collecter if anyone wants em
  22. theyve probably sprayed the carpets, seats, door panels and dash so the smell lasts longer - you may have to truckwash the whole thing from the headlining down and re valet with suitable products that wont annoy your wifes condition
  23. D6ngr dont waste money, time and grief doin all that mate - if you wannna go faster buy a 300
