  1. I think I've still got a couple of the capacitors needed to fix the flickering dash, so if you want one just let me have your address and I'll send it to you with the info on how to fix it. Obviously removing the instrument cluster is a bit fiddly but not that bad. Does your fuel gauge work OK? If not it can be done at the same time, I've got the capacitor for that as well. Phil
  2. Hi Bill. Welcome to LOC. Nice car with really low mileage. The blinky dash is a fairly easy fix if you're light handed with a tiny soldering iron. A friend did mine for around 20p! Phil
  3. Try £1700. Tell him he's got a deal if he accepts it. If it's covered in dust and flat he's likely to go for it.
  4. The blade is new but the transponder is from a second hand key, that's the bit I can't programme. Not much hair left after pulling clumps out! :megaangry:
  5. You say its sold but its still on Ebay? Mike Badly worded, I mean he's so impressed with it he's got it up for sale!
  6. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-LEXUS-LS400-AUTO-GREY-LPG-DUAL-FUEL-/141029578202?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item20d60495da The owner of this LS is so impressed he's decided to sell it! Eh?
  7. I know others have been through this as well, and I'm sure I won't be the last, but if anyone can offer some advice I would really appreciate it. I bought a second hand key from a MK4 LS, identical to my master key. I then bought a blank and had it cut. Transferred all the bits to the newly cut key, which fits OK and turns the ignition on. The problem is, I've been through the steps on the instructions on this link http://www.automotiveforums.com/t65722-programming_keyless_remote_for_lexus_ls400.html but every time I get to step 10 nothing happens. All the other steps seem to work. I've tried it now at least 10 times without success. Any ideas? Thanks Phil
  8. Me too. I bought NGK iridium plugs, they cost me around £70 for a set of 8.
  9. Absolutely. Bad signage is one of the main reasons that councils are having to cancel fines when it comes to being decided by an adjudicator.
  10. Personally I would get the best you can afford because its not something that gets replaced that often. At least you don't have to get 8 of the things! I see you can pay up to £20 each for Denso iridium depending on where you go for them What do other IS owners recommend I wonder?
  11. I remember watching a TV programme some weeks ago about the parking tickets issued across the country and the way people are fighting back in various ways (as I'm in the process of doing) But what I remember clearly was the presenter saying that although the tickets issued in private car parks (in other words, anywhere other than a public road) look official they're not. And as far as I know they have no legal ground for making you pay. They just hope you will pay because the tickets look like official parking tickets. Phil
  12. From what I and others have experienced it seems the best way forward is to find a local company that make their own systems, get them to put it up in the air and go through the options with them. Just avoid Quack fit etc! Phil
  13. From the video it looks like it's almost metal to metal at times on that bush. That aside, what an amazing bit of footage, clever man!
  14. I've noticed that my doors stay locked when I press the remote to open all the windows, I suppose it's a security thing. I assume you have the facility to turn the alarm "blip" on or off as the LS does?
  15. I have a ramp in my warehouse. So when I get bored of doing work I pop down and do it. If you're new to this budget 6 hours. If you're used to this crap, budget 4 hours. If I was to do the job again I can have the manifold and starter out in 90 minutes. That's pretty good going I think. I was charged £350 for replacing the plunger and contacts which I supplied, so apart from coolant and gaskets it was nearly all labour. If I had the space to work I would have gone for it myself.
  16. Dunno but my Mrs. is an expert with them :) Now that may just be too much information, and just before dinner as well!
  17. So did you get backache, or did you do it in stages, and how many hours would you say from start to finish?
  18. Thought it had gone again a few weeks later but it was a slightly loose battery terminal instead Is that what was meant by wobbly bits?!!
  19. Amazing what you can find out there. I like the old Top Gear one where the glass of water is placed on top of the engine of the Lexus, Merc, Jag and BMW
  20. Welcome to LOC. Phil
  21. Just another thought on this. I notice some procedures include the foot pedals but the above doesn't. The headaches getting worse.....
