  1. Thanks Ian, although that looks really daunting. Just reading through it gave me a headache. And yes Steve, fortunately I do have the master key. This'll be interesting!
  2. H Neil, welcome to LOC, just a thought. Have you managed to press the unlock button for a few seconds without knowing it? I assume it's the same on the GS where you can open all windows by holding the button down. (the remote that is) Phil
  3. I've been trying to find a spare key on ebay for ages without success. I noticed today someone was breaking a 1998 car so I contacted them and they have a MK4 key which I bought for £25 + a blank to have cut etc. Can someone point me in the right direction for doing the re programme please? All I can find is the info for an IS. Thanks Phil
  4. Once you post anything on the internet its your picture or whatever else it is you have published will go free range and end up on Google many other places which is why every one should be very careful what you publish on the net. Many people are now finding out that what they published is now coming back to bite them on the backside. Mike So it would seem. Thankfully nothing else has gone out there from me!......or has it.....
  5. This was a bit weird (well I thought it was) Just out of interest I asked St Google to show me some images of LS400's with roof racks to see if there were many. I didn't see any but I did see my own car and another members amongst the images How does that work then?
  6. For the price of the parts you could buy a superb MK4 LS400!!! Hope you get it all sorted, maybe it's possible to source the parts from the States or from a Japanese parts supplier? BTW, Welcome to LOC. Phil
  7. I agree with the above. Several times people have said these cheap parts fail very quickly.
  8. I don't know about your particular car, but I know the AC pipes (certainly the metal ones) always seem to have condensation on them. Phil
  9. I had a new battery fitted by Toyota a few weeks ago, they asked me if I had a radio code and I said I don't think so. The fact that it's all OK suggests I don't have one set.
  10. Wrapped up nicely in an historical and philosophical quotation...plus it would look crap!
  11. Typical! To be honest, I reckon you would have hated having a roof rack on such a quite car. Plus your fuel consumption would have gone through that heavily laden roof! Plenty of bikes on ebay for your extra passengers, maybe a monocycle for a bit of class?
  12. I have this mirror problem. I've just removed the horn fuses individually and turned the ignition on and the mirror shifted out slightly so I'm guessing it must be the radio fuse. But, I can't find any mention of a radio code anywhere in my paperwork. I thought the radio code was something that prevented radio theft but as the radio is integrated into the dashboard, I can't see the point. Do all Mk4's have a radio code? Mine doesn't seem to have a radio code.
  13. How about this company? And in Buckinghamshire as well. Phil http://www.motorack.com/products/18-roof-bars-and-roof-racks-to-fit-most/vehicle/Lexus/LS400/
  14. You may also find this interesting as it seems you're not alone! http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-second-generation/529305-clicking-sound-in-the-center-stack-coming-from-a-vent-motor-need-tech-advice.html
  15. Unless someone comes up with another suggestion it's best really to get Lexus to look, it may be something they're familiar with and will be able to tell you straight away what the problem is. Keep us updated though. Phil
  16. Welcome back, looks good. Keep us up to date with how it goes won't you? What year is it etc? Phil
  17. I may be way off but I have a Vauxhall that used to do the same thing (apparently it's very common) There's a motor that moves the ventilation flap to recirculate the air in the cabin. The motor is inside a small plastic housing which contains 4 plastic cogs. One tooth had broken causing the annoying clicking sound. Not wanting to be beaten, I took it apart and replaced the cog with a piece of plastic from a tooth brush stuck with Araldite. 3 years later still fine! Phil
  18. Welcome to LOC Phil
  19. Enough gentlemen. There's no point in going on like this. Let's remember the main point of this forum is to help each other, not slag each other off, it'll get you both nowhere. Phil
  20. I'll give that a go, that's exactly what it sounds like.
  21. Really I suppose in the event of a collision with a bike your one of those drivers that would say "he came from nowhere officer" A comment that really means "I wasn't looking officer" but God forbid that such a driver would admit it.Fact: Most incidents involving a bike and a car are the fault of the car driver That's why the Highways Agency display signs which say "Think Bike" I know this may sound a tad judgemental, but why is it that there seems to be a law for motorcyclists and another for car drivers. What I mean is, why do you rarely see motorbikes doing 30 in a 30 limit? It's not just the odd one, most seem to do it. Confession time, I know I used to! At least this motorcyclist admits to the truth. That was then, my motorcycle days are well and truly behind me now. I came off a couple of times, one was due to going too fast, I'm very, very fortunate not to have been badly injured. Now I prefer 4 wheels and absolutely no wind in my hair. Although I did go for a ride in my mates MX5 the other day with the top down and really enjoyed it, but still not for me.

  23. Thanks for the suggestion. It seems to be suspension related, it sound like the noise you get from a rubber bush, but I can't understand why it only happens in heavy traffic situations. Where I live we don't get too many long hold ups and it's never a problem.
  24. Hasn't anyone got an idea of what this could be? It's been fine for a few days, then this morning I'm back in London traffic and it's creaking again. I get out of London and on to less crowded roads and all's quiet at the rear end. Just doesn't make sense.
  25. This is the one for the head restraint. And yes, it does need a good dusting!
