  1. Welcome to LOC, the second Martin from Ireland! Phil
  2. No competition, Clarkson wouldn't agree but what does he know! Only 22? I'm guessing your insurance isn't £250 then.
  3. Glad you got it sorted. Was the cost as bad as expected? Phil No was actually fairly cheap. was kind of a favour as done through a mate of a mate, lol but cost £160 Excellent, I wish I had a mate of a mate like that!

    Hi

Welcome to LOC Nice car! I drove through Croydon a couple of weeks ago, you wouldn't want to do that without a sat nav would you!! Phil
  6. Hi Adrian, congratulations on your recent purchase. I recently bought a set of wheels from another member but couldn't quite decide on whether I liked them enough to keep them. What really helped me to come to a decision was the change in the ride that I couldn't get used to. With lower profile tyres the ride was just a bit too hard, and an LS400 isn't built to have a hard ride. Anyway, I had the originals refurbed and it was like getting an old friend back! Hope you make the right choice, but for me, if I changed the wheels again I'd get the same size as the originals with the same tyres. Phil
  7. Thank you for putting me right with that one. As they say "a little knowledge is a bad thing"
  8. I was really only suggesting a possible head gasket as I assumed the water went down over the days you've had it. If it's had a new rad I guess that may explain something. It'll take another IS owner to put you right with the coolant filling technique though. One will come along soon!
  9. As I believe the head gasket can be an issue with the IS, could this be the problem? I'm sure someone will confirm (or dismiss the theory) before long. Phil
  10. Hi Dave, welcome to LOC. Nice car! Phil
  11. Not wanting to turn this into a Honda appreciation club but...if I was looking for a MK3 LS, I would surely have to consider this...wouldn't I? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1996-HONDA-LEGEND-AUTO-SILVER-1-RETIRED-DOCTOR-OWNER-F-H-S-H-/261268044613?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3cd4c9fb45
  12. Maybe they've got both and just mixed the photos up. I did see a Honda Legend recently, and I must admit I did think it was an LS at first. That actually got me thinking, would it be a good car to buy, they do look nice, if it was possible to find one of course.
  13. I've just noticed you're in Surrey, which part are you in? I'd love to see the car in the flesh. Phil
  14. I've wondered why it only ever happens when I'm in slow moving traffic. Thinking about it, I assume it's because it all gets hot back there with the exhaust, which is why It doesn't happen when its cold. That certainly backs up what you say about hot weather.
  15. Hi Simon, welcome to LOC. What a fantastic thing to have the very car from the Top Gear test, and still looking good. Brilliant! Phil
  16. Hi Darren, welcome to LOC! Phil
  17. And the LS430 is a young mans car? I think not. On a more serious note, I hope you eventually get the feeling back in your arm, they often give you the worst case scenario with these procedures. Phil
  18. Hi Ian, and welcome to LOC! Phil :)
  19. Success! I have just become the owner of a beautiful LS 400 Mk 4. This car will be put through the usual 'Pepe' process in order to make it PERFECT. Right now I'm going through the paperwork as the car is currently on SORN. As I said, I'm now looking for a good home for my immaculate Mk 3. Interested members please PM me. This is all for now. Cheers Pepe Well done that man! You'll have to go some to make it look as good as your existing one. What colour? Phil
  20. Good advice for any of us facing the same problem. Hopefully the ride will feel completely different. Keep us posted, I'm finding this really interesting. Phil
  21. Wrong code entered too many times maybe? If so it may be a main dealer only job, or maybe cheaper to buy one from a breakers on ebay (with a code of course!)
  22. Having thought a bit more about Clarksons comments, I'm trying to understand what makes a car interesting. He seems to suggest that quite, reliable comfort is boring. I'm not sure what a car has to do to be "interesting" Breaking down? Wheels falling off? Fat exhaust to make it noisy and a long drive tiring? It can't be power because the LS has that. Or maybe it's "interesting" if like my friends Merc E320 (53 reg) you spend £1400 having a part fitted to the braking system. The only conclusion any sane person can come to is that Clarkson is speaking total Bratwurst! But what's new?
