  1. Wise choice my man, you know it makes sense. Happy hunting! Phil
  2. Hi Greg, one of the safest ways is to use the thickest plastic strimmer wire. I'm not sure I would want to risk using metal. It's very common for the holes to get blocked, but they should clear quite easily. Phil
  3. All the time. I see it as a part designed to move, and if it doesn't move I suppose I should expect problems.
  4. We had a "mini LS400 meet" yesterday evening at a pub just off the A24 between Worthing and Horsham, where we had 3 LS400's. I rarely see one around here, but as I was driving over to meet the others I saw one going in the other direction. 4 in one evening! We hope to do it again, so maybe when you get your car you can have a jolly jaunt over to join us, or we could come your way. Phil
  5. My pleasure, just passing on what others have done for me. Let us know how it eventually goes.
  6. Tom, have you looked at this to see if it gives you any clues? Phil http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/74607-alarm-keeps-going-off/
  7. Looking at all the info you should be fine, so well done, a bargain!
  8. I don't know if this helps, but I've looked on ebay for months waiting for the right key but nothing came along. I decided to look under "LS400 breaking" and found two MK4's. I contacted the sellers and one had the right key and now it's all sorted, so maybe that's a better way of getting a key? Phil
  9. And to think that all those years ago I couldn't wait for the next episode of Dynasty. This could actually run for longer unless you two call it quits!
  10. Matt, if you look at the Euro Car Parts website you'll see that the part number for a 2006 Avensis is the same as your Lexus, so I would say yes. Their price is £48. Phil
  11. As above. I removed my rubber and refitted it with clear silicone. It also stops water from leaking into the boot which it did before. I believe its a common leak repair on the LS.
  12. Interestingly, and inspired by your ingenuity, I've just removed my rear seats and replaced them with deck chairs, looking good, but hopeless on a long journey.
  13. Well done Ian. For someone like me who still remembers valve radios, that's very impressive. Speaking of valve radios, just this week I was given a white Bakelite valve radio, and working! Phil
  14. Thanks for the replies and the wonderful hair growth product! I did put on a new post a couple of days ago to say I've sorted it out. It took literally 1 minute. I went through the procedure several times, then finally got it when I used a combination of the procedures given to me by two members. Like everything, easy when you know how. The main thing was to get an identical spare key which I got from a breakers on ebay. (where else) Thanks again Phil
  15. I bet late October/early November now seems like light years away!
  16. I find my sat nav to be excellent. In the nearly 12 months I've owned it it's only let me down once.
  17. I would have paid that if I was really happy with the car and all the history was genuine. As I've said before. If its worth it to you, then it's worth it! Well done, nice car and lovely colour. Phil
  18. Welcome to LOC. £2,500 will buy you a really nice MK4 if you're prepared to wait and maybe travel. They do come up, but good ones go fairly quickly. They'll be plenty of advice from members. Phil
  19. Only 3 miles from where we live but I've never seen it anywhere.
  20. Another big thank you to Mark and Ian in particular for their info on programming my new remote key. I had another go this morning and this time it worked! So thanks to LOC I now have a spare key for a total cost of £36.50. Plus the satisfaction of actually seeing it work! Thanks Phil
