  1. A blessing in disguise maybe? I did a similar thing, I bought a Ford Explorer 4.0 and tried to sell me LS. People were asking silly questions about the suspension and exhaust, even though it had just passed the MOT. In the end, I decided to advertise both, and the Explorer sold....albeit for £600 less than it owed me :( I took this as a message from above to keep the LS. Thanks Mike
  2. Hi mate, I'm in Reading, so not far from you. I have been to Lexus Reading (for parts only) and they seem like a good outfit. If you go Gold on this forum, Lexus Reading will offer you a 15% discount on parts and, I think servicing too. Perhaps we'll have to meet up at some point, as it's not far :) Mike
  3. That will be it. I had a similar issue with my Rover 820. At 80mph it would overheat, but ok at 60mph. When I looked at the rad, the fins were all missing or hanging out. A new rad cured it. Good luck! Mike
  4. Hi, welcome to LOC and congratulations on you purchase. Mike
  5. Welcome to LOC. IS300, that's nice, get the pics up :) Mike

  8. Hi and welcome to LOC. Mike
  9. I too have had lots of other cars including about 5, 7 series BMW's, which until I got my LS400, I thought were the best big car (on a sensible budget) now I know, I was wrong. I keep getting the urge to sell my LS due to escalating fuel costs, but I just come back to, "no other car will drive like it does" and my family (including my dad) keep pointing this out to me. So again, I'm back to keeping the LS whilst I save up for an LS430 / 460 / 600. In short my LS has 215,000 miles on the clock and drives better than a 7 series with a third of that. When I'm out in it, the power, silence and ride remind me why I keep it. Thanks Mike
  10. Pete, If the aircon has no gas in it, the revs won't change as there is a pressure sensor inline. If there is not enough pressure, the compressor won't kick in and as a result, the revs won't change. Get a mobile AC service guy to have a look. They should do a pressure test before refilling. Looking at the forecast, you're going to need the AC :) Thanks Mike
  11. I can sympathise with you. I have a 1998 LS400 with a full LSH and I can't shift it for £1200. I've decided to keep it now as it's too good to give away. Mike
  12. Chris, Welcome to LOC. That does look like a clean and tidy example. Well done! Mike
  13. In the past year, I've... replaced the battery - £55 replaced an upper rear arm - £185 replaced the oil and filter - £80 replaced both lower balljoints - £50 replaced offside track rod end - £43 Insurance - £711 MOT - £50 Cambelt was changed in 2009 (before I got it) Love the car to bits, was looking to seel, but I'm not so sure now? Thanks Mike
  14. Parrot of Doom - It's definately low oil level. Andy, Wow, It won't be getting a new one then :( Maurice, Thanks, I'll have a look over the weekend. Is it a nightmare to get at? Mike
  15. Hi all, Since I bought it, my car (periodically) flashes up low engine oil level....even though the level is OK. The previous owner said he took the sensor out and cleaned it and that stopped it for a while. Well, I reckon I need to either give it another claen or replace it. My question is, where is the sensor and what does it look like. Is it just like a crankshaft position sensor or something? Thanks Mike
  16. Welcome to LOc and good luck with the search. Mike
  17. Well done on the purchase. You just have to love the LS, don't you! Mike
  18. Welcome to LOC and enjoy your new car :) Mike

  21. To adjust the fader, balance, bass and treble, you have to press in the "audio control" button opposite the volume and then the settings appear on the screen. Turning the knob will adjust the highlighted function, pressing it again will move onto the next. AFAIK, if the button is inopersative, there is no other way of making the adjustments. Thanks Mike
  22. Pete, Yeah, I'm with you on the one picture thing.... Might be worth a trip if it's not too far for you? Mike
