  1. what part numbers does your existing DVD have on it? Hopefully something like 86271-60V540 or 86271-60V541. If they are not even close to the numbers on the new disc then you have an incompatible disc for your nav unit.
  2. They still won't sell enough diesels to justify an engine just for a Lexus IS. The 2.2 unit will also be used in Toyota models.
  3. In the US there are quite a few options, not like in Europe where everything comes as standard so some US vehicles will have better specifications than others.
  4. The engine is meant to be the best in class in terms of emmsions and refinement. It has a very low compression ratio to stop the shake and noise you normally get. I think you need to test drive it before dismissing it. The IS200 engine isn't exactly great, you could say the brand went then.
  5. Air suspension is the main difference, this wasn't on European models. I guess the ride will be softer.
  6. One of the directors in work fancied my Lexus, but went for a Jag in the end as he wanted a diesel. How many others have done the same? Lexus have had plenty of Toyota diesel engines at their disposal for ages (the Land Cruiser Amazon has the choice of 4.7 petrol or 4.2 turbodiesel), this is a market they should've targeted years ago. ← no need in the past. US was the only real market Lexus were concerned about. They now want more of the Europe market which is why the cars are being designed differently and the introduction of a diesel model.
  7. what company are you using? One to avoid I think.
  8. Possibily it was screwed on too tight and broke the plastic? I have a spare you can purchase for £15 if you want? I believe they are around £32 from a dealer.
  9. Sounds normal, mine is the same. It's not the most aerodynamic vehicle in the world.
  10. why? cars are more reliable now than they used to be. The problem is when something does go wrong the replacement parts are very expensive.
  11. does the nano have a standard ipod dock connector? If so there should be no reason why not.
  12. it has over 300 bhp so the times are about right
  13. you need to add on the options though http://www.lexus.com/models/is/price_options.html
  14. make sure it's nice and light when checking for codes otherwise you may get a 21 error. If it's dark shine a torch on the solar sensor when checking for codes. code 16 is passenger duct sensor error.
  15. passenger rear door, is that near the fuel filler? Check the cap seal.
  16. Nice one Robert. You always get people who say my vehicle has done 150,000 miles and it drives like new. This just shows that it will not drive like new. Shocks really should be replaced at 80 - 100k miles.
  17. Not heard of this problem. My GS had an MOT on Saturday and they didn't say anything. The cars done 37k miles now and they haven't been replaced. The 4.3 engine isn't heavy. It is about the same weight as the GS300 engine so the problem would also be seen on them.
  18. Lexus have in the past made reliable not rattle free cars. Maybe the newer models have improved.
  19. as with all Toyota engines it uses shims for valve clearance. Best get a dealer to do it but it shouldn't need doing.
  20. I would stick with the standard 235/45. You need to maintain the correct wheel/tyre diameter for speedo accuracy. Remember the profile is just a percentage of the width of the tyre so you could fit some wider/lower profile tyres or thinner/higher profile tyres but the actual height of the side wall will still be the same. You will alway lose a little comfort moving from 16" to 17" rims but it's not that much and it will certainly be an improvement over what you have now. You should also consider your tyre choice. Maybe something that offers comfort and quiteness over ultra high performance. Worth looking at Yokohama AVS dB V550 (although they can be expensive) or something similar.
  21. I've just reread your tyre model. Can you confirm that you have run flat tyres? If so then that is the cause of the problem. Go away and burn them and put some normal tyres on there and all will be well.
