  1. The RX350 didn't appear out of nowhere, it had been talked about for well over a year on the US forums.
  2. Yes the series II tank is 75l. The series I has the 80l tank. Don't look at the spec on the Lexus web site, they have it wrong (although with hundreds of other things :o )
  3. From http://www.densoiridium.com/faq.php Q. How long will Iridium Last? A. Iridium use represents the most significant technological advance in automotive spark plug manufacturing, since platinum was introduced in the early eighties. As vehicle manufacturers produce increasingly complex and efficient automobiles, there is a greater need for long-life plugs that can tolerate leaner fuel mixtures and improved combustion processes. DENSO has responded to this need by developing its Iridium alloy, originally for OE applications. For example, many newer Lexus’ and Toyota models carry an ultra long-life Iridium plug variation (.7mm with platinum tipped ground) that is capable of up to 120,000 miles of service. DENSO Iridium Power plugs, with their .4mm center electrode, have been developed for performance applications. Because gradual wear will “round-off” firing points over time, the concentrated firing power and voltage requirement benefits will be reduced. For this reason, DENSO advises replacement after 30,000 miles. For some reason Lexus GB insist on plug change every 60,000 miles. In the US the same plugs go for 120,000 miles. IK plugs should be changed every 30,000 miles.
  4. If you have a Toyota/Lexus engine then it will damage your engine unless you use a flashlube. The valve seats are not hard enough for LPG use. There have been several reports on these forums from owners and dealers who have had/seen engine damage.
  5. It's always worth asking the dealer about insurance and if the dealer does insure you what is the excess. It will all be written in the form you have to sign but how many people will read that when you are in a hurry? I know Guildford don't insure their loan cars and only some of their demonstrators (the cheaper ones). Reading do insure their loan cars, don't know what the excess is though.
  6. Just take the cover off and look at the belt for signs of wear. Keep an eye on it every 5-10k miles.
  7. Colinbarber may come along soon to add to that... It's a common misunderstanding that VVTi makes this "kick" like in early versions of Honda's VTEC (which switches to a different cam lobe) but it is not. VVTi is continuously variable so you wouldn't notice it continuously adjusting. The "Kick" in power comes from the induction tract shortening (ACIS valve - Acoustic Control Induction System - , which opens and shortens the air intake path), and ignition timing advancing. A long induction path is beneficial for low end torque, and a short path for better breathing at high revs ;) Cheers, RX-Men-8 Not much more for me to add :) Only VVTL-i has dual cam lobes like Honda's V-TEC however that technology hasn't been used on a Lexus, as far as I know it's only been on the Celica 190 in the UK.
  8. Admiral, Bell, Elephant (and Diamond if you are female) are fine with mods and are normally only around £20-30 extra per mod. However is stated before they will not pay out to replace the mods.
  9. I believe the series II has a 75l tank. The series I had an 80l tank.
  10. It's the same company - Toyota developed the diesel for the European market - not vehicle specific. I agree, I don't see them developing another one. The only option would be to use another manufactures unit.
  11. Have you got a picture of the crack? If it's after the MAF then you will get incorrect fuelling as the MAF will not detect all the air entering the engine.
  12. Filled up last night and the Shell garage I used had Optimax at 99.9p. Has anybody seen over £1 for a litre of fuel?
  13. you need a master key to program the vehicle for a new key. The procedures have been posted on LOC before - worth doing a search.
  14. you can cut the speed signal going to the system but that would probably affect fuel computer and sat nav position if the GPS signal is lost.
  15. It's the signal quality rather than strength that is really important. However 70% strength seems good enough, does the card state what speed it's running at, e.g. 54, 48, 36, 24, 18, 12, 11, 9, 6, 5.5, 2, 1? Are there any other access points in the area? Have you tried changing the channel? What actual throughput are you getting? 802.11G will only give around 22Mbps real throughput when running at 54Mbps and this reduced the greater the distance from the base station. Does your base station have TNC connectors on it to accept an external antenna(s)? You can get many different designs of external antenna which have extra gain and also send out the signal in different patterns so you can choose one to match the shape of your building.
  16. The engine ECU is able to alter timing etc if low octane fuel is used, it wouldn't cause the engine to blow. There must have been a serious problem with the engine/fueling system
  17. Yes the GS doesn't ride that well for the type of car it is. New shocks probably won't fix the issue unless you go for a complete new coilover springs/shocks replacement. You should be able to improve things by altering the wheel geometry by somebody who really knows what they are doing.
  18. your Lexus dealer will have, otherwise look on ebay as people often sell off their old discs. If you are looking for a copy then you have come to the wrong place, illegal activity will not be discussed on these forums.
  19. find out how much they are charging for the coolant change. Also how much they charge for the oil. Some dealers charge up to £70 for oil.
  20. road noise is probably the OEM tyres. The new IS250 is also very bad for this.
  21. I'm not sure Toyota/Yahama have used both systems. It's probably over on the IS200. I believe it's under on the RS200 engine because shims used to fall out at very high engine speed on older revisions of the engine so they changed the system.
