  1. lexussport, were you ever locked out of the trip computer screens whilst driving? I have never seen this.
  2. I would recommend trying: esure Sainsburys Tesco Elephant Direct Line Lexus LOC Make sure you take into account the excess. Some companies are much higher than others.
  3. Don't know of problems with the tensioner roller. Once the belt comes off you will be able to tell if it spins freely. You need to tension it correctly to get the correct tension on the belt which should be measured using the correct equipment. This link shows the procedure, it's for a Supra but the engine is basically the same - I would check the tension requirements are still the same as this is from a 1995 manual http://www.mkiv.com/manual/manualtt/timing...ment/index.html It's not a easy job, I think the radiator needs to be removed to gain access?
  4. The buttons (VSC, performance mode and heated seats) are not lit. As for the gearshift that is not lit however you should use the indicator on the dashboard (left dial) for the gear selection - stops you taking your eye off the road.
  5. TRD stuff is normally very good. They state the filter is less restrictive and last longer than the stock filters. Maybe the gain is so small it's not worth the money. http://www.toyota-trd.com/en/strt/e_airfilter.html You have to be careful will some filters as they although they may give performance gains they don't filter well and you could end up damaging your engine. http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_t...st/1/index.html http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_t...st/2/index.html
  6. http://www.mkiv.com/manual/manualtt/engine...iption/emd3.JPG This is from the engine workshop manual for the 2JZ-GE, 2JZ-GTE engine. Half way down the page it talks about the piston depressions to avoid interference so there is no real problem with a cam belt break, other than breaking down and needing a tow to home/garage. The drive belt normally starts to make a noise and you can see cracks in it before it breaks. Again no damage will be done provided you stop the engine as soon as the warning light comes on, otherwise you will overheat the engine as the water pump will not be operating.
  7. Do you mean trip computer? I can go to this on the move. I have a '98 GS and have used 3 different versions of the CD, all with this option.
  8. There's not much else that will take that power.
  9. You then have the problem of your gearchange feeling like a tractor! The Getrag gearbox may be strong but it's a horrible shift. The worst thing about the Supra TT (luckily most are autos) and one of the reasons I sold mine.
  10. Insurance should be around £500. Try Tesco, esure and LOC. As for servicing there is Lexus Guildford (highest priced servicing in the UK?) or Bracknell. I would suggest supplying your own oil as I was charged £65 from Guildford for my GS300 a year ago.
  11. They make a noise and do nothing except possibly make your engine run lean! You also need two for a 3.0l engine.
  12. The offer has finished now. I cannot remember what dealer it was though.
  13. I think one Lexus dealer had a month offer on user-car finance - 5.0 APR
  14. Your machine probably didn't have the virus, it was being attacked by a machine that had it. Microsoft update fixes the problem
  15. I guess a problem with your ISP then. This worm is affecting many customers and ISPs at the moment and it will get worse tomorrow. The symantec test only checks if your machine has the virus. You machine can still be attacked which the test will not detect. You need to install the Microsoft patch to stop machines from being affected by an attack.
  16. Microsoft sites are all working fine. If your machine is infected or is being attacked then you may not be able to connect.
  17. Make sure you use it for 5 minutes every week to keep the system working correctly. I would have thought a re-fill should be covered under Lexus warranty? Shoudn't need doing in the first three years.
  18. The problem with virus checkers is that they work on virus definations to detect the virus. When a new one comes out they don't know about it and you get infected. The WebShield Appliances wouldn't have stopped this worm. Your firewall should be blocking all ports coming in which would have stopped this. However there are other ways it could have got in (users with notebooks, bringing in CDs etc). A bit late now but the only way to have stopped this was to patch all your machines when Microsoft announced the vulnerability in July. Once they announce a security problem then viruses and worms get written to take advantage of a known problem so these should be actioned asap.
  19. From tomorrow machine that have the virus will try and attack windowsupdate.microsoft.com. Depending on how many machines you have and the size of your Internet connect it may fill your pipe. Have a look at: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcen...aster.worm.html http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_100547.htm http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp Claire, do you work for NAI?
  20. I guess your brake disc may be warped. A garage should be able to test this with a dial guage and tell you if it is within the limits or not.
  21. All ISs have them in the UK, 200 and 300 models. In fact the whole of the Lexus range have washers in the UK. Any model in Europe with HIDs require them by law.
  22. Many of the Bridgestone tyres have these rims protectors, called Rim guard http://www.bridgestone-eu.com/articles.asp?ID=523
  23. I guess the European emmision laws reduce our power and the fact that economy is more important over here than in the US so the engine is slightly de-tuned. Taking into account the low power fuel we must be 10bhp down on the US models. However with the large different in 0-60 times there must be some other differences - lower gearing maybe? Even worse for the 4.3 V8. They have 300bhp in the US, we only get 279!
