  1. Most will be company cars so will they be that worried?
  2. TTE do a couple of different spoilers which should be cheaper. The standard one on the sport covers up the rear brakelight (has it's own one built in) so you either need to disconnect the old one or remove it. If you remove it you also need to replace the whole cover under the rear window as it will have a hole in it! The £650 quote may include the new cover? The wheels are OZ Salina so you may be able to get them elsewhere. £1200 doesn't seem too bad a price though. Was that for 4 or 5 wheels? If you spend £25 on GOLD membership you could save over £200!
  3. This law causes problems for turbo timers as the engine is left running. In the instructions they always recommend that the car is not left unattended whilst it is still running, which sort of defeats the object of the timer! However it's main function is to stop the owner from forgetting to idle it. I had one fitted to my MR2T. I never left it running whilst I was out as it just felt too weird leaving it and you were always wondering if it switched off. On my driveway or in the car park at work was fine as I could hear it idling and then suddenly stop a minute later.
  4. If I type in http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk the picture of the SC430 is broken If I type in http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/ the picture is fine. Anybody know the reason? I am using IE and this happens on all machines I have tested it on. If I click on the first link the / is automatically added and the pic is fine. If I then delete the / and press return the pic is broken again. Seems very strange, I have never seen this on another site.
  5. What's involved in fixing the blinkey dash fault?
  6. Don't know whose cat it is. I was sent the pic in an email today.
  7. The Sat nav should add around £500 to the price of a £13,000 car. I don't think they are worth the money in the IS unless you have a real need for it. It's a great system (one of the best standard fit systems) but a bit fiddly to input destinations compared to the other Lexus models as you don't have a touch screen and you don't get any other features (touch screen audio and climate controls or fuel computer). If you do get one with sat nav then try and get an up to date disc as they are expensive to purchase. The cambelt needs changing at 100k so that service will cost above average. I would also suggest you look at an import. However it would be wise to check insurance costs as they can be quite a bit more than a UK IS200.
  8. Even if you manage to get a good finish I doubt it will last more than 6 months before it starts to go again.
  9. I wasn't sure about the rims when I first got the car, not that there was any choice as all the 430s came with the polished finish at that age, but after a week or so I quite like them. Show up all the dirt and water marks though!
  10. I had one of my key batteries go flat on my GS300, it still worked but the range was reduced. I removed the battery to find out the model number so I could purchase a new one but I started to use one of my other keys and never got around to getting a new battery. 8 weeks later I sold my car and whilst getting everything ready I found the old battery and put it back in and tested the key. It worked fine. So there is no problem of the key losing it's code.
  11. once you switch to super you need to reset your ECU or run through a couple of tanks before the timing is advanced to take advantage of the more powerful fuel. It normally works out about the same cost (maybe slightly cheaper using 95RON) but as you get more mpg on super you don't have to fill up as much.
  12. If the plug leads are that expensive it might be worth importing them from the US. If are are going to change the leads you may also want to change the distributor cap? I would have thought that if your plugs are so bad that they make that much different to economy that you would feel the engine isn't running that smooth. Have you checked your air filter or that your brakes aren't binding?
  13. I know PowerHouseRacing in the US tuned a Toyota Supra which developed 1050 bhp (cannot remember if that was at the wheels or fly) and clocked 8.98seconds @ 154.1mph for 1/4 mile. FYI that didn't have sat nav!
  14. Mat, I just noticed that your paint code is 040. That colour has been around a long time. I had a 1985 MR2 in that colour! Don't know what it was called then.
  15. The TTE springs for the IS and GS are re-badged Eibachs and lower by 30mm. The GS Sport is lowered by 25mm. I don't know if they use the same springs? Maybe the shocks are also different on the sport which is why the drop is not 30mm? The IS300 is 15mm lower than the IS200. The new GS sport (July 2003) is 20mm lower than the standard GS. I installed the Eibachs on my GS300. It improved body roll and the car looked better but crashed over bumps (slightly more than the stock ones). It always felt that the springs didn't suit the shocks.
  16. It's the new style so there shouldn't be any ERR3 problems.
  17. Has the CD-R got a label on it? These sometimes make the disc too thick and cause problems.
  18. What a pain. There must be so many on backorder to have to wait that long. It only took a week when my wife's one got swapped out last year. You won't have much luck getting one from the showroom as they have different connectors on the new head unit. Still they should have one or two from their used car stock they could swap it over with.
  19. Keith, I think the MKI is a great car and I also like the look of the MKI sport better than the MKII. However having driven both that is the only thing I feel is better. They are completly different cars. The MKII is much smoother, very quite, less wind noise, better on fuel and a nicer interior. Plus they didn't do a 4.3 MKI :P
  20. I would never say SO-3s are quite. They are a performance tyre and therefore comprimise comfort and noise. There are worse tyres for noise but I regretted putting them on my GS. They were great on my Supra but I wasn't too concerned about noise then. I have been looking for the best tyre to put on my 430 once the rubbish Bridgestone RE030s have worn. The Bridgestone Turanza LS-Z are getting great reviews but don't seem available in the UK, I may have to import them from the US. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...el=Turanza+LS-Z My old GS300 had the 16" wheels. I must say that the GS430 handles and rides much better with the 17" wheels but that may be suspension modifications rather than the tyres. Road noise is worse but that's due to the RE030s compared to the 16" OEM Yokos. Noise is about the same compared with the 16" SO-3s.
  21. At well over £100 per set and probably at least half is profit, it's a good way to make some money. Having said that if you have Andorra trim (light grey) the mats do get dirty quickly and will never look like new again so it would be best to throw them.
  22. I've seen 3 or 4 of them. It's just a VW with a different engine and I think the VW look better.
