  1. Ask your nearest Lexus dealer for its history or ask the indie garage to see the registration to see where it was registered and then find the nearest dealer to the initial registered address and give them a call to ask about the cars history. Although I am pretty sure the initial garage it was bought from is stamped in the service books.

Hope this covers everything
  3. That works out to be an average of 4k per year Has it got a full service history? - Others on the forum can correct me but it would need to be up to date not with the mileage but with the years service according to the service record. Although its a low miler, the fluids will deteriorate and the rubber on the belts will do so also - best to get it checked out first if not buying from a Lexus dealer. Also get the exhaust thoroughly checked as it during its life probably would not have had a good run to get it hot to burn off moisture judging by the mileage. Calipers are another part to check if its not been used all that much - they can and do seize. If its been sat for a while then theres a greater chance of this. Also ask the previous owner - if you can - why such low mileage.
  4. 250 definitely but it wont return the mileage you are looking for - kit is all there on the SE-L model It depends what you want from the car ... comfort from a car that wont get lost in the sea of BMW or Mercs in a car park these days. The 250 is something different. Low miler with a service history.....- I myself would look for a car with average mileage for the year as it shows its been driven and not pootled around in back and forward on a school run or shopping run for its life as I don't think that can do a car like this any good but that's just my opinion. High milers on these should not worry you but there are obvious wear and tear issues as with all cars. Parts for these are not too expensive if you are willing to do the work yourself. Most work can be done by any owner willing to get their hands a bit dirty/oily- if you are going to rely on dealer then you will need a big wallet.
  5. Anyone heard of or used this ? MARVEL MYSTERY OIL Its mentioned on a few Toyota forums mainly in the states - an oil additive used to clean noisy VVT valves. Put in the oil and ran for around 1500 miles and it is stated it cleans the valves...? Mines due an oil change and I usually use Wynnes engine flush while changing the oil with no issues after years of use. but this is only used for a 20 minute engine run. Have had a few times lately where the engine rattle has been apparent but only for a few seconds - have read its something to do with the oil pressure with it not feeding the valve reservoir quick enough due to it needing a clean. Anyone know if this can in fact be cleaned and would it be an easy job? I am going to try and catch a recording of the noise which will be a long process as it doesn't do it on every startup.
  6. Today it happened in park and I felt it when reversing out of the drive. Previously I have felt it when in drive when slowing down at a set of lights.
  7. Parked the car on the drive on Friday night after work - have been in the garden all weekend - came to move it until Sunday night. It felt a bit "lumpy" (felt it and heard it) slightly erratic idling when the car was first started from cold. Weather has not been cold or wet during the time it was parked up. No leaks and nothing else to indicate any problems. I am thinking this may be an occurrence of what I thought was carbon build up which I had? previously with the car. Have been using a mix of Shell / supermarket petrol (more Shell than the other). I have treated it twice with the BG additive in approx 3000 miles as I thought I would give it a good clean - it seemed to help but there's no pattern to the "eratticness" so maybe its just not worked. Looking at other possibilities - fuel filter? Is this part of the service schedule or does it even have a filter? I don't see the point in putting it into Lexus as I explained above, there's no pattern to the erratic idling. The last time I felt this was around 2 months ago. Any other sugestions (plugs / coil pack) - the idling settles down after a few minutes when just left to idle or almost instantly when driving - never had a coil pack go so would not know how it feels when they start to fail....
  8. I have also been looking at the following which I can only find in the US Item 350588933025
  9. This is the only one I have found which is on ebay from the USA Item 150963238162 £240
  10. Anyone know what's behind the large blank panel on the front bank of roof light controls - I originally thought it was a storage place but with no controls to open it then I don't think it is. Is it part if the interior alarm sensor?
  11. I changed mine not too long ago - Brembo fronts and Mintex on rear - pads were all mintex.- no issues.
  12. Do you have adequate fluid in your expansion tank (white bottle, front of engine) it sounds like the gurgling sound has gone due to there now being sufficient fluid as you have added the radweld. Not ideal to put this in the cooling system as it needs to be a special Lexus recommended pink coolant. I had this problem - gurgling / running water noise on start up a while ago and thought it was normal but when I could not get the heater to work when the cold weather began I investigated the system and found there to be no fluid showing in the tank so I initially topped it up until it was at the proper level with ordinary blue anti freeze (not ideal but the dilution vs what was in the system already was small) - this cured the heating problem. I could get it to heat up before I realised there was no fluid in the tank by driving the car using the manual option so I new something was wrong so if this is the same symptom as what you have had then I would check your expansion tank for sufficient fluid. Mine showed no signs of leakage so I am guessing it uses a bit of fluid over time.
  13. Changing the oil does make sense under this condition .... would the recommended oil still apply for a car with high miles .. 75k plus? or would you go for a higher grade?
  14. Mazda 6 does this also - oil feed to VVT actuator on startup but only lasts a second - sounds like a machine gun.
  15. Its a shame that Lexus UK do not follow the US counterpart with as site as useful as the one available across the pond (can only be used by US car owners on certain parts) This link has the options to learn about your car - service history / service schedule / manuals and resources . https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/my-lexus/home.do This would be so handy ...
  16. Yes - touching the brake pedal will turn the cruise off - nasty smash ... reparable?
  17. Dominik It may be related or not, something for you to consider... - I changed the exhaust on my IS250 and I have this noise - more of a hum and a light vibration but its starting to quieten down now. A stainless system has been fitted on mine and I am pretty sure the resonator, first box back from the back boxes on the exhaust is where the noise and vibration is coming from. As I said its quietening down now so am leaving it for a few months more to see if it does disappear. I can make it disappear by switching from drive to manual and it seems to appear when accelerating in each gear but when coasting its gone and when back in drive it will go until accelerating again. Seems to be more noticeable in the low rev range.
  18. I bought a boot spoiler from the same place as you almost a year ago now and the colour match to the car was spot on - cannot fault it - has been stuck on with the adhesive strips that come with it - enough to place the adhesive strip around the contour of the outer edge of the spoiler. No issues with it sticking, still solid. It should not peel the paint off. I was that impressed with the spoiler I bought a high level one and that's the same, quality wise. Stuck onto the rear screen with the same adhesive strips. No problem. I bought these from Taiwan as I could not find what I wanted in the UK. I have tried to put a picture up but cant find a way of doing so - if you know how I will add a picture.
