  1. I disagree. It is in part the owners responsibility as well to understand their vehicle and the risks that come with that particular vehicle especially when there is a (free) solution to the issue, similiar to how they have responsibility of their property security / health etc etc etc. The whole world seems to know about Range Rover thefts and Keyless thefts of various marques for example. The problem is that humans are generally stupid and oblivious to their surroundings - it takes very little research to find canbus theft articles on Toyota / Lexus vehicles.
  2. Why would they offer you the plate? I understand that this is a difficult time but some of the responsibility does lie with the owner as to their car security. Many owners are well aware and had the protection plates fitted. I had mine done many many months ago when I had the 450h and the information is quite readily available
  3. The handbook suggests using the bare metal piece roughly in the center of the engine bay for the UXe
  4. All it's got is a dash cam which is 12v socket powered. It's taking 0.5amp when asleep so not much. Weirdly after the 20 mile drive on Sunday, it started first time today so took it for another 15 mile spin and left it on for 60 mins after. I've found my starter pack jump set so I could use that potentially. Used to use it for the lawnmower and for emergencies so should be fine. I'm going to get a trickle charger though as well and give it a full 2 days on there just to get the battery up if possible. Just been sent a Halfords 15% off code so why not
  5. Will have to see. Car is under 3 years old so wouldn't expect a battery to die on any car during that time. Solar charger wont be any good as the car is garaged. There is a mains about 3m from the vehicle so will have to use an extension lead.
  6. Great stuff - have one on order Im just wondering, do any of you have something to prevent the battery from discharging in the first place?
  7. Nice one, looks like a good bit of kit and certainly small enough to keep in the car
  8. Its already off I had an issue 6 months into ownership where the battery would discharge every 3 days despite being driven daily. I turned it off an its been fine since. So the battery today when AA man came was at 6V. With car locked and key away it was using 0.5V so no parasitic drain as such. Car was charging the battery at 16V when it turned on but this went down to 9.5V. Ive taken it out for a 20 mile journey to see what happens. Which battery charger have you got? Im thinking either a jump starter pack or a trickle charger
  9. So the 12v battery on the UX300e is tiny. I went on holiday for 12 days thinking it should be fine - obviously was discharged on my return. It was started by AA and I took it for a 15 min drive thinking that would be enough to sort it out - unfortunately wasnt and 1 day later it discharged itself. 2 questions really - what is the best solution for this? a trickle charger and any recommendations (ive never used one so don't even know where to start and how to set it up) or something else?
  10. Can't be done. I do think it's a better solution though than in some German cars where you need to turn it off for small movements or parking. Think Mercedes takes it though for the function of theirs which is activated by pressing the brake down harder than normal.
  11. The key syncing definitely works when held up to the power button - didnt know that was a thing but glad its sorted. Will register my face at some point! Many thanks!
  12. I have the same issue. Do you mean the key when you say remote? Didn't realise you had to hold the key near the start button
  13. I would appeal on their website stating that the letter was received after 15 days to no fault of your own (Christmas holidays, postal backlog etc etc). They should reduce it to the lower amount. At that point just pay it. Parking eye have and will take people to court, sometimes it also ends up on your credit report if not paid and they issue proceedings.
  14. Doesn't matter what brand is fitted as long as it's the same size and load rating / run flat. Can get these at most tyre shops
  15. My mate has a Ferrari F8 from new. No issues with it so far but minimal mileage and it does spend most of its time in the garage / trickle charger with regular detailing. Bit of a pain to drive apparently as scrapes bumps if not taken side on and roads are too narrow for it most of the time.
  16. Don't think it'd matter how close you park to the wall with the new NX. It's got encrypted canbus anyway so they won't use the canbus method
  17. Not had an issue with it so far. Tbh I can't even tell when it's changed gears so is quite similar to a CVT in that respect. However, when accelerating hard to join a motorway for example, you can tell it's a conventional automatic and it makes it much more refined in my opinion as you don't get that surge in revs
  18. I mean I drove mine 150 miles from the dealership to home and it did over 35mpg sitting at 75mph. It used less than 10% of the hybrid battery too. Economy seems to be better than my RX450h in town so far and this thing is properly quick in comparison. Rides a lot better than my previous RX as well.
  19. I turned that one off as well and its not turned back on - kept giving me messages to pay attention also when I was looking away. Only issue I seem to be having is that I cant get connected to the multimedia system - the car has been registered to the Lexus Link+ app and I can see journeys / location of the car, just the multimedia system doesnt seem to register so I can't setup my own profile. Not sure why this is
  20. Not sure - when we bought our UXe in 2021 it came with a full pack. The RX500h hasnt come with anything although its only been a week
  21. It most likely is as all new Lexus models will be. Will have to wait until UK launch go confirm though
  22. Its not an issue on the new ones. They have encrypted canbus
  23. Sport mode will sharpen the throttle response and the steering wheel . Sport S+ if you have it will stiffen the suspension as well as the above.
  24. Yep thats going to be a tough one to sort out because there's no way to prove either way. If you do more than 15K miles in a year it doesnt matter though because you'd need to service it before the date regardless. You could try fighting against Lexus UK and the dealership, alternatively present your car earlier for servicing / just take the risk for a few thousand km
