  1. Treatments shouldn't leave a shiny finish at all. However, having said that, valeters at dealers use a sort of dash/leather/all surfaces kind of product so they don't have to keep different products for everything. The problem with these is that it has silicone in it so leaves a shiny and slippery surface on the leather as well as attracting dirt. Dodo Juice leaves a matt look and their sealant is not overly slippy unlike the stuff valeters use. Im sure you won't be disappointed with it - I think Autoexpress have also rated Dodo Juice leather cleaner their no1 recently, its definitely a great product and as good as Dr Leather. Its much cheaper which I why I bought it. And yes, the sealant will keep it looking cleaner and a periodic wipedown with a damp cloth will be all thats needed until it wears off
  2. Ive got galvanised bolts on my RX - its been 3 years and no problems yet. Let us know how you get on with the new ones
  3. The hybrid system does make a noise when braking yes but to fully understand the sort of noise, would you be able to get a passenger with a phone to try and record it?
  4. Thats Lookers for you buddy! Went into Hatfield once, not only were they rude but their prices on used cars were £2-3k more than equivalent specs, dates and mileages! Cant recommend Lexus Bradford enough though - they fit 4 tyres on my RX for £50 and did an MOT for £27! Fast Alan is the salesman you want to talk to lol!
  5. Well that sucks. Lookers are awful. Not going back there then, rather stay with Bradford
  6. Shouldnt really matter - they probably won't notice it - if they do, just say they removed it before delivery lol
  7. Should only be £773 mate, not £935! They service IS250's for that much as well as my RX450h! They've practically given you a discount because they can and they'll still get a lot of profit!
  8. So the dreaded paint protection film - brilliant for protection - utterly disgusting in terms of aesthetics! As you can see from the attached thumbnails its gone slightly yellow, on a bright white car! Not only that, take a look at the tyre gunk surrounding the edges - it does NOT come off by routine washing! So I'd had enough of looking at this monstrosity and removed it! I thought long and hard about it at first. I dont like stonechips but the likelihood of one hitting that spot is close to 0! In fact, the car is 2 years old and out of all the light scratches I polished out today - none were anywhere near the PPF! Things you need: Hairdryer 2-3 minutes total A nice comfy bit of carpet to rest your knees on! - some 18" biceps And finally some tar and glue remover (Autosmart Tardis used here) OK so this seems pretty simple, heat the damn thing and just pull right?! Nope, it's not that easy, for reasons I'll explain later on...........trust me...... I tried it this way first and it took ages! So to begin with use the hairdryer and heat up one of the edges. Make sure you concentrate the heat on one just one edge and then use your fingernail to lift the sticky edge up. Now - put down the hairdryer and without heating ANYMORE of the paint protection film just pull. This PPF is designed by 3M who designed it to be removed without heating! Now the reason I said "DONT HEAT ALL OF IT" is because the glue becomes sticky, therefore sticking to the PAINT! That way, you have to remove ALL of the glue from the paint!! When just heating one edge, you only get glue residue on that single edge and thats all making the job much much easier! Lastly, the tiny bits of glue residue can be removed using tar and glue remover, in this case Autosmart Tardis - if you decide to heat the whole PPF, it'll take a lot of elbow grease - I tried it with one and it took 15 mins! With the other, I just heated one edge and pulled - it came of with barely any residue at all! So, I hope this helps some of you who have light coloured cars (especially WHITE!) and want to remove this poor excuse of "protection".
  9. Holy **** - £140.20 is 15% so 100% is over £900. Surely you arent paying £900 for 3 services!? It should be around £773 if I remember correctly
  10. Passenger memory is not worth it tbh. It's not really hard to move the seat from one position to the other as its electric anyway
  11. 10% would be pretty easy at this point in time. Few reasons for this - end of September is end of the quarter, so dealers want to sell cars. Also the new RX is landing so Lexus want to get rid of the older stock from their forecourts
  12. Nah its fine. I used to grease them and they had no issues in 8 years of ownership
  13. Agree. The pick of the range appears to be the Luxury which I'm assuming will sell like hotcakes. The F Sport is £3k extra for styling and AVS from what I can see
  14. Lexus safety sense is standard on SE so itll carry over to all models. It includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, pre-collision system, auto high beam and TSR which I cant remember
  15. You can get a GS450h F-Sport for £48k atm, beaten the Genesis in all reviews lol
  16. Awesome! lol I wonder if £69995 is GS-F price and they got confused?!
  17. Its technically a city car - taking a 1.8L with 136hp combined is expected to be dreadful on motorways so why bother?
  18. Unlikely. The NX has a 3 month waiting list due to low production volume. Loads of RX's are produced. I can't see the RX having a waiting list that long to be honest. Its too big for most people and you can see about 30mpg if driven normally. I bought my RX450h F-Sport with a 10% discount in June 2012 for £49650. In November 2012 my dealer was selling the same spec car with 6k miles on it registered a week later for £43k!! If you look at the RC-F for example, they cost £63k when new and a 4 month old one is listed for £53-54k. I spoke to a dealer and he said they were having trouble shifting them and I could have it for £52k. This was a £54k listed car with 5k miles on. I bet if I tried harder they'd just get rid of it for £50k. Im not too sure on P/X prices, Lexus Chester gave me £3.5k for my wife's Merc (its only worth £3k realistically) and the IS300h we bought was the cheapest around anyway. When I bought my RX450h, I P/Xed my RX300. Once again, they gave me £100 more than any car buying website and also gave me the £10% discount.
  19. Im not too sure, they appeal to different people due to the massive size of the RX. It's literally the same size as the updated Q7 now. The RX200T is starting from SE grade, no cloth seats so no S version I think. So, as Lexus Scotland was spot on with their 200t price, I think it's safe to assume that their £52995 figure for the RX450h F Sport holds true. That's £1000 more than now but I believe it's good value as it seems to be cheaper than nearly every large SUV out there. Having said that, £52995 + £610 (metallic paint) + £1000 (ML) + £1000 or so for the pan roof = £55605. All I can see is 6 month old demo and 5000 miles later it's going to be £43k
  20. Breaking news!! LEXUS STOKE have also confirmed the pricing of the RX and it is starting at £39995!! Leeds have messed up big time
  21. 1) Genuine Lexus mats can usually be found on ebay - dealers sell them at different prices sometimes - worth looking at. Having said that, you can buy replacement mats from almost anywhere and they'll be about the same quality but half the price. The good thing is that black mats are quite popular so everyone does them, not so with the beige and grey No idea on the other question though....
  22. I think the SE-L has air suspension and audio system as well as the kerb view camera - not really worth the premium but it depends on how much you value them. I thought all RX450h's had DAB?
  23. Great to know thanks! Ill try and have a crack at it on Wednesday - weather permitting as the car needs a full exterior detail - the interior is looking great - valeters did a good job but the outside has a few light scratches which have caught my attention and the PPF is doing my head in.
  24. I don't mind cleaning the glue residue - thats the easy part - i have plenty of experience with debadging but PPF is something I haven't removed as my previous RX had PPF on the bumper but it was wrapped around so no seals were visible I would have left it on and just cleaned it but its an eyesore as its sort of yellow and clashes against the bright white paintwork
