  1. I wouldn't recommend the IS220d personally. Its a departure from usual Lexus principles and was really just an attempt to grasp more sales. The IS220d frequently has problems and id say in terms of maintenance costs, an IS250 would be the better option and would probably cost not much more to run.
  2. Lord have mercy. No one is suggesting that Lexus could/would sell the Rx400h today at £56,000. The above poster stated that he thought that the reliability was unacceptable for a '£50K car.' You responded that he was 'plucking figures out of the sky.' I have shown that in fact he was not. Without taking inflation into account, any such discussion of an object's value is completely meaningless - one is not comparing like with like. Maybe this would have been a better way to phrase the original point: 'I find the reliability in a car that cost the equivalent of £56K in today's money unacceptable.' But it didnt cost £56k, thats the whole point. The RX450H Premier costs £56k and thats a much superior vehicle. What inflation are you referring to? NHS has frozen my pay for 7 years? Inflation works both ways, not just one!
  3. Now you've just given them some new ideas - Maybe they'll start advertising 'just for Londoners' prices soon :) Good luck on the securing a deal. They probably will and all LOL! Oh well, I live in Yorkshire so no problem for me :P Ive put an offer of £21000 and my wifes car (trade value £2700-3000) on the IS300h in Chester. Their asking price is £24490 so I feel £23700 is a decent offer - only £790 less than asking price and I said id collect which will save them £250 odd (they advertised free uk delivery which we all know is not really free at all). Will let you know what happens!
  4. More performance = more dangerous in the insurance world. The only reason insurance is more expensive here is because the companies are extorting customers. As customers don't have a choice in whether to take insurance or not, an increase in prices across all companies leaves the consumer with nowhere to go. Either that or us brits are just **** drivers
  5. Some good advice here guys thanks! Well Ive come to the conclusion that the Black/Red with 47k miles is a bit overpriced - they're arent willing to play ball past £22k which I think is a bit ridiculous - may as well extort customers! When I asked why their car was so expensive - their reply was "Cars in London are generally more expensive" to which I replied "so surely the price of your new cars are higher too then?". He didn't know what to say! Anyway - the search continues....... UPDATE - Just put an offer in for the White/Red IS300h in Chester. Will see what comes of it.
  6. Lexus GB and stupid in the same sentence ;)I don't understand it. So what if it eats into 300h sales, they still make a sale and if it is priced like the NX they will make more margin on the 200t than the expensive hybrid. Given that the IS200t is coming to the UK there isn't even the argument around cost of having to train mechanics and keep additional spares etc. I've been told there isn't a market for it. Screw that, I'd buy it straight away if it was the same price or even higher than the GS 250. It'd be a great engine for the GS! 7.2s is pretty good going for a luxo barge and I can't imagine fuel economy being that bad
  7. No discounts given I'm assuming? 3 months isn't that long tbf. My brother in law waited 2 years for an A5 in 2009 in black with cinnamon leather lol
  8. 1 - yes it's 2015. Not sure if you realised but the RX450h has been out for 6 years and a new RX is coming out this year so we aren't talking about a new car here.2 - the 450h does not suffer from these battery problems. I've left my car for 4 weeks every winter for the last 3 years and it starts fine. 3 - you're plucking figures out of the sky. The 400h wasn't anywhere near the region of £50k, the current RX is and its the most reliable car in its class - period - no ifs no buts, it just is. If there was a major issue, we'd know about it as Lexus sells 100k RXs annually in the US alone An RX400h SE L cost £43,000 in 2005. With inflation, that is equivalent to £56,000 today. You cant factor inflation into a cars price. An RX400H then wouldnt sell for £56k now simply because it wouldn't be able to compete with other contenders around that price. They would have to leave the price the same if they tried selling it in 2015 or reduce it Besides, an RX400H SEL has no powertrain difference to the base model. Claiming it's a £43k car isn't fair as that includes options. It's essentially a £35k base car + added trim
  9. Hmm I guess I don't want buyers remorse after buying it. Besides, wife's preference is white with red so will probably see if Chester do a good price for me
  10. Nice! Is this the one from Lincolnshire? Did you get a HPI check done mate? Bonnet looks odd?! :/
  11. OK just for the sake of clarity: July 2013 Celestial Black IS300h F-Sport - 47k miles - Rose red leather + Premium Nav Its going to be my wife's car, she covers about 3-4k miles a year so the warranty will probably run out quicker than the car hits 60k miles. Having had a chat with the dealer, they're prepared to take £22k + they'll do the service. I guess that's still pretty high considering a IS300h can be had for £1-2k more with significantly less mileage. Id probably say £20k with the service and delivery - CBA going to London to get it! (CAP book says between £19-21k so i'd say £20k is reasonable.
  12. Completely AGREE UK car insurance is a complete rip off. I got hit by another driver on a car 3 years ago yet my insurance goes up. When queried, they say im at a higher risk - now how does that work exactly?! Utterly idiotic excuse to raise prices and make consumers pay more. I had a Corvette insured in the US $20 for a month!
  13. Which dealer? Ideally you would need to get in contact with Lexus UK which should hopefully give you the quickest solution. Sometimes the dealers tend to play it out to see if you get bored or deal with the damage - getting in touch with Lexus UK should get the ball rolling.
  14. Fair enough. The prices seem to have just flattened out at circa £24k dependent on spec and mileage
  15. Please could you elaborate on what issues you're having so we can advise you on the best stance to take?
  16. An IS300h F-Sport has just popped up with 47k miles at £23k. Being an early 2013, id expect the mileage to be mainly motorway which I assume can be mechanically good but cosmetically bad! Would you guys say this is a reasonable asking price for this vehicle and any problems you guys can see being high mileage?
  17. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwHIlq2NRho Nice selection of videos of an RX450h in Sonic Titanium and the other is a 200t F-Sport with RHD Interior shots. Interior definitely looks great in terms of fit and finish!
  18. Could easily just mean that they make the most profit on them though? My local firm only stocks Michelins, continentals and hankooks!
  19. That's a stupid idea. Completely missed that! They probably think it'll eat 300h sales
  20. So the facelifted GS is upon us. Its also coming with the 2.0l Turbo from the NX but with 241hp and 0-60mph in 7.2s Some new features include panoramic view monitor, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert etc etc 5 new colours will also be available including Sonic white, Mesa Red (I assume its replacing Crimson Red), Nightfall mica, Caviar and Azure Blue (F-Sport) Rose Red will replace the Garnet Red in F-Sport models and a choice of new interior colours will be available for Luxury and Premier models
  21. Thats a stonking price BUT - XL? Completely unneeded on the Lexus RX - XL basically means stiffer sidewalls = worse ride comfort Personally, Id go for the Michelin Latitude Tour HP in 235/55 r19 101v fitment, firstly because I have them and they're really good tyres, others also have them and highly recommend them and they are standard fitment in the US where they value a quiet, long life tyre with good comfort.
  22. I agree, I don't try and get good MPG but Im still impressed with the RX as it does achieve some brilliant figures. Does more MPG on the motorway than my wifes Merc C220
  23. Not exactly - I paid £990 for 3 services - 2 majors and a minor as I paid for the 10k one myself so have 20,30 and 40k in the plan. What you pay for is - if something gets botched up, they'll fix it immediately - not like the independents who sometimes refuse to say they've caused it. Also, you get the hybrid healthcheck included free which is ESSENTIAL for the hybrid warranty + they take care of your car - ive had 3 services, an MOT and a full tyre change - not a single scratch on my car. I went into the work area and they cover the whole car with cloths including the interior to make sure they dont get it dirty. Having said that - if you have a car over 5 years old you may as well go for Lexus Essential Servicing which is cheaper than the full Lexus service.
  24. Well £70k is the top of the range Premier though so other versions are going to be cheaper. Im predicting the Luxury version to be about £60k. However, I wonder what the 200t pricing will be! NX200t is slightly more expensive than the 300h, due to more performance I think. The RX450h has more performance than a 200t so Id expect the 200t to be about £3-5k cheaper I guess you could go to Porsche but no Porsche SUV looks as good as that RX - period! Actually, I think its the best looking SUV in the segment - bags of presence!
