  1. Sounds about right. The 2 cheapest NX F-Sport's are on the Lexus website at £37k, one with 10k miles, the other with 5.5k miles. If you haggled with them a bit more, they'd give you a max of about £31.5k and then put the car on for sale at £37-38k, expecting to sell it at about £36.5k. That'll give them a £5k profit. The reason dealers give you a low price is because that particular car could happen to just sit there for a few months going down in value and they wont want losses on it.
  2. Single chime when driving - Im sure this is the speed camera warning that cant be turned off Chime after opening door - I sometimes get it in the RX. Seems to be if a window is slightly open or if you open the door just before you press the ignition off button. Last time I drove the NX300h it was really hard to get the engine not to come on. I think theres just too much weight to carry for the electric motors alone and its not got the power to pull it forcing the engine to come in.
  3. Hard to argue with that. Do they give a discount on the actual list price though? In which case, take the deal and pay it off in a month :D
  4. PCP works out more expensive no matter what if you dont pay early due to the added interest. Take the extra discount they give, its usually £1k and pay the balance off after 14 days. Sometimes you have to pay 3 months worth of interest but its negligible compared to the discount given. I tried PCP once on a Merc a while back. They take money off for absolutely everything, including wrinkled seats (wtf?). Apparently, it was wrinkled more than it should have been, i just told them to bugger off, bought the car with the baloon payment then sold it privately! I dont think its worth the hassle though, I prefer getting PCP and paying it all off in a month or just buying with cash. Does work out cheaper buying with cash (although for some cars it doesnt if it depreciates alot, usually the high end models like the LS). Best to work it out first.
  5. I had a loaner with Bridgestones once - IMO it was quite noisy compared to even the Dunlops. Perhaps you got used to them? Id seriously recommend the Michelin Latitude's! The car will be sound like a vault with them on compared to the Bridgestones! Michelin Pros - cheap, very smooth (they complement the RX suspension very well, I have the F-Sport so Im sure itll be a cushion like ride on the other versions if you're into that), stick like glue in both rain and in the dry (took a sharp corner much faster than I should have done just to test them out and they were great, Dunlops would have had the slip indicator flashing). Also, its not advertised but its got a rim protector which actually work as I experienced the other day! Wish I had them on when I kerbed the front wheel as it wouldnt have happened otherwise!
  6. Perhaps. But then the dealer is obviously being more proactive in their selling technique and reaching a wide audience so maybe they should be rewarded with more sales compared to "normal" dealers. At the end of the day, Lexus is still selling cars so I dont see why its a problem.
  7. Tried them a week ago - only £3k off a fully loaded one F-Sport im afraid. Works out £2k more expensive than drive the deal was!
  8. Id take it to the dealer in all honesty. My Merc dealer only charged £80 for a regen. Hasnt come back since so I doubt Lexus would do it any more expensive. Their prices are quite reasonable for easy jobs like changing tyres (£50 for all 4 including VAT) and regen.
  9. As mentioned above, theyll either give you a larger discount on a new car and less for part-ex or the other way around. The key is to try and get them to give you a good part ex and a decent discount! Some dealers are happy to reduce their margins at certain times in the year, especially around Nov/Dec time
  10. Looks like Drive The Deal have stopped offering Lexus cars... Yep. There's still broadspeed, buyacar, autoebid etc though
  11. Trade in for the NX should be about £33-34k at the moment at Lexus dealers purely because they will make £5k off it. They wouldnt give £37k for it as they wouldnt be able to sell for £40k +
  12. Quite suprised actually. The BMW is actually faster from a standstill. I think it must have been the extra horses from rolling or perhaps the 235i was too unstable?
  13. I've said this before - accelerate slowly down hills, let momentum + light acceleration to pull you up the other side. Momentum is key, the hybrids don't like stopping and accelerating alot Something else - HARD acceleration, then let the car maintain the speed. It helps a lot, I'm getting 35 - 38mpg in my RX :D
  14. Thats interesting - Im a director and classed as self employed by mortgage providers and im not paid by PAYE either.
  15. Im not too knowledgeable on this as I have an accountant myself but if you are a company director doesnt that mean that you are self employed? I have a company too and Im listed as self employed. In which case, your company, depending on how many directors there are will be paying for the car which means you'll be paying from your pocket + the BIK if you go down the company car route? Wouldn't that work out alot more expensive? 2 year CH is going to cost you £11,349.64 + 50% VAT (£1134.96) as you use the car privately too (to and from work etc) Yearly cost = £6242.46 3 year CH will cost £16358.98 + 50% VAT (£1635.9). Total = £17994.88 - YEARLY COST £5998 PCP will cost you £19951.02 after reclaiming 50% VAT. Yearly cost £6650.34 Thats before any other advantages. Hopefully, someone with more knowledge can chime in
  16. Weird thing is, Iwould have said the same thing before it happened!! It was a simple reflex - "going to hit living thing, STOP!" Glad no damage though, they stick out a cm more than the OEM Dunlops from the edge of the rim so do help inregard to protecting wheels from curbs.
  17. It doesn't on my F-Sport. I think in the test it was some sort of software issue as he had muted the sat nav which affected the ice sound. Might be new on 64 plate?
  18. It was referring to muting radio or music playback when the sat nav lady speaks. The consensus of opinion seems to be that the is300h cannot do that. It is one of the very few niggles I have with my F-Sport. Exactly, it said that the radio does cut in and out when sat nav lady instructs you Ed
  19. OMG had a real scare! Going at about 40mph on a duel carriageway and a cat came running across. I swerved out of the way, hit a curb pretty hard for a good metre or so. Pulled over, checked the rim for any curbing. The tyre saved the rim!! The Michelin's stick out a fair bit, took most of the damage on the rim protector :)
  20. Guys it appears the reviewer has been reading this forum! The review has been updated for month 4 :) Again, very balanced views. Worth a read. http://www.motoringresearch.com/car-reviews/long-term-tests/lexus-300h-2015-long-term-review-0417962432 Something I also noticed. The reviewer wrote in the "Notebook" section towards the bottom of month 4 that the audio was cutting in and out due to the satnav instructions. I thought the IS couldnt do this?
  21. Id try and get the Black Max and the sealant put on in the same day if I were you. Reason being is that the Black Max is a glaze and the fillers will be removed if you wash the car after putting it on. Its polymer based so no need to use IPA or wash as there wont be any bonding issues. Stick 1 coat of sealant on top, should take 15 mins. Key is to use very thin layers (use a damp applicator, helps alot in thin layers) Wipe off and then you can leave overnight. Wash the car before you put the wax on. Again, damp applicator and thin layers. Only put 1 layer of the wax on as at this point you will have 3 layers on your car. Glaze, sealant + wax. There's no point in doing more than 3 layers on any car as it wont help durability after this point
  22. Yep kit has good stuff in it. The lake country ccs pads are the best imo. I was confused as to why there's no white polishing pad in the kit. It turns out that the Black Max is actually a glaze which means it boosts paint depth and shine, fills in most swirls and gets rid of very minute swirls. So really you could use this as much as you want as it doesn't actually remove any paint. stick the extreme elements on top. I've only heard good things about it. 2 months durability I think. Max shine is a funny one. It's a polymer based protective liquid but I can't see why you would put it on top of extreme elements. Seems a bit pointless. And the spray shine, you could just use that just to top the protection up and add some shine
