  1. hello people on the forum - water pump by pass pipe leaking from o ring behind the water pump. does the water pump have to come out in order to change this part ? IS200 auto cheers
  2. hi, how you all keeping ' after 2 years of ownership and my 3rd IS200, driving 82k without any probs apart from a battery last winter it has began to loose engine coolant. im loosing half a litre every 100miles. when the car is cold I hear noises behind dash in the heater matrix which I assume is air lock or low coolant. when the car is warm there are no noises. the car has never overheated and always blows hot air from vents when at optimum temp. I have checked for leaks and not found any. bled the system many times in the correct manner. do I need a pressure test and what could the problem be ? the car is an auto at 132k current on odometer. any comments much appreciated -
  3. they now recommend 35psi cold. i run 30 psi cold as i got summer tyres. oh & i feather it hard around the corners!
  4. 5-30 mobile 1 fully synthetic no knocks or bangs either cold or hot. you need a serious oil change dude -
  5. toyota comes with red coolant as standard. it can be changed to blue. as above mentioned, not safe to mix the two, drain & re-fill.
  6. i have had two IS300's in the past. cost me £2200 to gas convert 1 of them at the time. use to average 300 miles £30 quid gas, soft easy driving. which is brilliant. you have to get the right convertion done & yes flash lube is essential as the valves would burn out in a week! the ecu is clever. as you drive on gas the fuel gauge will begin to drop. you could be on reserves with a full tank of fuel!
  7. i think its 97 ron as standard but they can run on any grade of fuel. i always use shell v-power. got the habit as i have been using it in previous high compression modified cars. the 1g fe of mine is standard at the engine. i have tried 95 ron fuel & the car seems to struggle on pick up & hills with reduced mpg. yes it costs more but depends what you want out your engine. i have tried every fuel out there & the best is shell unleaded or v-power. tesco momentum 99 is also good but looses its punch if in the tank too long. i would go 99 ron on the 2jz. best engine toyota ever made. try the two & get back to us - its your call -
  8. 13.50 gallons (60 litres) = before reserve light. cost to fill tank = £85.20 (60 litres) worst - 260 miles = 20 mpg. best - 520 miles = 40 mpg. average is 300 miles = 24 mpg. really depends how its driven!
  9. ok, thanks tigerfish. just found out that the bottom slide pins are worn, so theres a relation to my problem. ordered them all four. just got to hunt the correct lithium soap grease.
  10. you need a 16mm deep hexagon socket along with the extension & rachet. easy to change on the IS model. denso 0.7mm iridium or ngk 0.6mm iridium plugs are both great. i prefer the IK20 denso's.
  11. got one from lexus, red in colour, white tube, says toyota on it. (grease) the guy at the depo says thats what they use at the dealership. will graphite grease be any good ? the one used in cv joints.
