  1. crikey... how many sets of tyres then do you go through in a year? I go through 2 new sets of 4 tyres all round per year, which I think is very good. plus its motorway miles and the laser alignment always helps -
  2. there not easy to find at all. that's why I went on the expensive route with coilovers. drop where you like, when you like I think you might get hold of a company called gmax springs. cheap and cheerful & for every day use there spot on. research in to them, they might be the ones for you happy lowering '
  3. my previous IS200 auto finished with 193k before it was write off by some *****! I am averaging 42k per year as it sleeps on the motorways mainly due to my job. hoping this time it passes the 193 mark' 3 years ownership counting -
  4. totally agree with the above post!
  5. ok this is what I think is going on. some one has added an extra sort of clip on the pads to stop them rattling which is not suppose to be there. pull out the rod and retaining anti-rattle clip and ram that clip out lol you will need to bend the rattle clip a bit so its pressing firmly on the pads to avoid rattling when you finish the job. hope I have some what helped - :eerrrmm:
  6. hi chris and welcome, on standard 215 45 17 rims u can go 60mm low and it will almost in most cases rub a 'little' on full lock at the front wheels. If I drop the tyre pressures a bit the rubbing on inner wheel arch goes away' its a hair line difference to be honest and depends how strong your shocks are aswell to handle the drop. I would recommend 40mm drop, choice is yours though bud -
  7. hmmm' :eerrrmm: so is there a better way to bleed the matrix. how about disconnecting 1 of the 2 matrix pipes under hood behind engine and run water through for a bit. then bleed using the normal procedure. im thinking of trying that. . its really annoying me now as the car is sound without any noises what so ever!
  8. well I guess garage not required - when there is a polish called - maguires ! B)
  9. yep post the after pics when its done mate
  10. its a shame though as there handle mileage well but depreciate a lot too, especially over 100k mark as above mentioned.
  11. thanks for reply. I have done exactly what you done many times. I have found the steepest hill in my neck of woods , heaters on full on screen on hot. cap off, squeezed all the pipes. all bubbles are out and its showing me no air lock. still getting the noise behind dash only when cars cold on start up. ac unit is off. confused ? ? - -
  12. I would be very carefull driving it without coolant. infact you shouldn't attempt it. kip an eye on the temp. the coolant must be contaminated and dirty. I cant see oil leaking from rad though. no cooler pipes there. exploded don't sound nice. seems there was a lot pressure in the system. have you checked your engine oil condition? is it mixed with water - changing the rad will let you know where you stand, hoping its all well.
  13. it wont be slammed with 40mm springs. you will have tolerance and bumps free headache. it will look just right. there will be a small gap between arch and tyre. I have done many cars with 40mm drops inc IS200's so that's how I know. its the best all round drop unlike mine which is a show drop lol ( coilovers ) on a side note its worth checking your shocks, if there weak then that side will go down a bit more. when job complete it might look like 35mm drop. it will eventually sit in to the correct height. all the best -
  14. the only leak that iv seen on 'some' is200's on the gearbox is normaly the sump gasket or sump plug, as mentioned above post. it would really be a rare case at your mileage if a seal is worn unless you overfilled the gearbox which then at times will try to push its way up throught the dipstick aswell. hope you get it looked at and sorted out
  15. I have used it before in Honda accord auto. its a good oil from usa but for the price you going to pay I would go for the more used and rated Castrol edge or mobile 1 or even amsoil. try and test it, it wont do any harm
  16. 5 years owned previous IS200 auto had 193k same engine and gearbox never needed oil or coolant top up unfortunately got write off so got another with low miles its a 300k car I would say. great for a 2.0 litre slug superb reliability car
  17. I use Maguires 3 stage polish kit once per month on all my cars. I believe it is the best! it stays on the paintwork for a very long time. neither of the cars have ever seen dust but then again they mostly garaged
  18. that's some sweet miles you got there- good stuff' tensioner could start sticking play it safe - change belt and kit.
  19. seems like you need a radiator. your car an auto ? its unlikely to leak oil unless may be you hit a bump or something. but that's what it sounds like to me. your mechanic will give you the definite -
  20. hi spax are good and so are eibach ' afaik spax will give you a slight softer ride compare to eibach springs. in the end its personal preference. good luck and enjoy -
  21. its common for the slide pins to knock and make noise. make sure there always greased up using Toyota approved grease otherwise it dries up and seizes! also the rubbers tend to split or perish causing to leak grease.
  22. hi carlb - I would go with 40mm drop if your going to keep the rim size the same with tyres. you will have a approx fingers gap between tyre and arch. the front will slightly dip in more as there is more weight at the front of car. also depends on what make of springs your going for as some are softer than others. but I would say 40mm drop! that's my take on it, that's my advise - its your call pal.
  23. whats up everybody ' I have replaced my radiator as the previous was leaking from its core and I was loosing coolant. since then I have an air lock. I have bled the system in many ways. when the cars cold I hear gargling kind of noise behind dash. its fine when cars warm. before posting here I have researched on net about this and have followed what many peeps have done to correct this but its not worked for me. hoping someone has experienced this and may be they want to help out here - thanks in advance to the posters - -
  24. I have the whole kit new on order. many thanks dewfallsuk - great help -
