Just my opinion, but if you have your car serviced by a Lexus dealer, they should have giving the car a good look over last service, then get an MOT done with them, if they find any problems you can throw it back at them ( well excluding bulds etc ). If your cars not serviced by a main dealer, then find yourself a good independent garage local to you, do try keep away from some of doggy looking back street garages ,as they can sometimes find work that's not needed (if you get my meaning) ...good luck :) .

Great news you have your motor back :) ..hope the Lexus inspection comes back as a "clean bill of health" .

I've come to terms with the fact ,i'm now going to keep my car for a few years , so it can deprecate as much as it likes !, its still one of the best cars in its class on the road today B) , and i'm sure other brands are loosing money just as quickly...if not quicker :) .

I see one of the major online valuation companies have added an extra price to its line up, along with the main dealer price they now have an independent dealer price, which can only be good news, as up to now independent prices have been very close to main dealers ... i've used my car as an example below Lexus IS Saloon :) . 2.0 SE 4d Auto 2000/X Average mileage: 40,000 miles Cost New ('00) ........£ 21200 Franchised Dealer .... £ 12350 Independent Dealer .. £ 11775 Private Good ............ £ 11195 Private Poor .............. £ 8685 Part Exchange ............ £ 9940

Just my opinion ...but without doubt the most reliable trouble free celica ever made ,was the Gen 6 ( 1994-1999 ), only problem to come up on a regular basis is rear anti roll bar bushes, but if your interested in the gen 7 you may not like the shape of the Gen 6 ;) . and they're getting on a bit now, last model rolled of the production line Nov 1999, so you may find a V reg if your lucky.

Below are a few facts & figures to look at, care of the Celica-Club. co.uk :) http://www.celica-club.co.uk/cgibin/phpbb2...pic.php?t=15219 The gen 7 celica did have a few warranty problems. ... corroded alloys, rusty brake hubs, weak tail gate struts, alternator belt idler pulley, lights dimming on 190 model (alternator fault) and bolts on VVTi cams can wear and break. Please don't think the celica has all these problems at the same time, i'm a moderator on the celica-club so get to hear the problems they have ... last point, paint work very prone to stone chips around noise cone. On a personal note, i was in the same position as you two years back, do i go for a celica or IS200....i went for the IS200, go get a roadtest on a new celica for a few hours and see if you miss all the comforts of the IS200...i'm sure you will :D .

I feel the luck was the fact you were driving a 4 door car , that B post has saved your life, had that been a 2 door car...... we would be sending you flower now !.

Well 76% of the vote like Gold so far :D , my IS200 had Gold badges on it when i bought it, so i did'nt have much choice !, but they do look good on a Blue car ,so i'll keep them :)

17" or bigger rims need to be done on a machine with a jockey wheel, as in photo, this pushes the tyre down so the lever bar can be got inside to remove tyre without damaging rim .

Having spent several years in the trade, a couple of things spring to mind... 1) Faulty batch of tyres (solution ... you need four new tyres ASAP) 2) Corroded seating area where tyre sits on rim (solution....remove tyre from rims, clean with wire brush and spray with 5 wheel silver paint) 3) your rims have been refurbished ,and to much metal as been taken from the front rim area (solution ... need new wheels) 4) this would be very rare, BUT a tyre fitted has removed the tyres and has damaged the beading of the tyre or ripped some of the rubber off the seating area of the tyre (solution....replace tyres ASAP ) Sorry to say the last suggestion is all to common, most old style tyre machines only take up to 16" rims, so if you try doing a 17" IS200 rim ,your going to damage the tyre and rim big time , Bob.

I also have a copy, got it off Amazon last year, bit hard going but all the lexus history facts are in there :) .

If we are talking a submerged vehicle, most of the interior will be beyond repair, all electric's will need drying, put the computer, relays and other electrical items in your airing cupboard for the week. All oils will need draining from engine, box and diff, then crank the engine over with the spark plugs out ,and get shoot of the water in the bores. depending how long its had water in the bore/piston area ,the piston ring may of rusted to the bore,it could be a good idea to turn the engine over with a socket and bar first. Your also need to bleed all the brakes out, change the power steering fluid, plus air filter and pollen filter. Remove or drain fuel tank....the list goes on ;) .

So sorry to hear your bad new, not much i can add other than your alive, its a sad sign of the times ,but people have lost their lives for less. Hope you injuries heal up okay . Bob.
