  1. All the best with your next motor Jon , hope your new motor is as reliable :winky: .
  2. Just to give an idea of deprecation on the IS200 SE over a 13 month period, i kept an eye on both Parkers and What Car guides and the What Car guide is much more consistent..... My car IS200 SE Auto, 2000 X reg, mileage then 22K....price is for Private sale values.. Dec..03.....£13500 Jan..04......£13500 Feb..04......£13500 Mar...04...------ Apr...04.....£12622 Jun..04......£12737 Jul..04.......£12672 Aug..04...------ Sept..04....£11783 Oct..04......£11194 Nov..04.....£11093 Dec..04.....£10665 Jan..05.....£10665 Seems the only time the prices stand still is Christmas and new year. So it seems my motor has lost £2835.00 in a year ;) .
  3. Your better of gauging you vehicle price working from Parkers and What Cars site, i've been keeping an eye on my IS200 SE price for the last year, and its seems to drop about £100-200 a month. Sometimes the site drops the price at the start of the month, other time towards the end, take a look at http://www.whatcar.co.uk/ :) You may find the what car site a little more true to life :o .
  4. Just a though, put a bit of cardboard around the valve first, may protect the rubber from the plier jaws :) .
  5. Very nice , my car has a set fitted inc wheel centre caps :D .
  6. I read all the threads on here about headlamp condensation, and tried all the tricks...but with no joy. Using my Gold Membership , i bought a new headlamp from Chris Shipley ( top man ). I also thought the problem was with the glass , but now think, its either one of the bulb holders, the hight adjuster screw ,or the water is getting in through the ventilation holes were the sponge sits ;) , Bob.
  7. Make...Bosch Type....Asia Silver, Price...£47.00, From local motor factor, with life time warranty :) .
  8. I've seen this many times before, your fitting new pads on old discs, as a disc wears it may get thinner on the outer sweep area or on the inner sweep erea, when you fit new pads they don't make 100% contact with the disc until they have bed in. Depending on the amount of wear on your discs, it could take between 25 to 250 miles before the whole of the disc surface is silver again. When i changed my pads last year it took a few weeks to bed the new pads onto the old discs :) hope that helps, Bob.
  9. New battery is 60Ah and 420A cold cranking, no spec on the old battery so can't compare :) .
  10. I worked as a mechanic for 18 years and Bosch is one of the best, and with a life time warranty you can't go wrong :D.
  11. I'll get the spec of the battery in the morning :) .
  12. I bet you CD player doesn't play up at the dealer, its called .... SODS LAW :winky:
  13. When out to use the IS200 after the christmas holiday, just to find the battery on its last legs, phone up my local motor factors, they had a Bosch in stock £47.00 :o . I thought that was a bloody good price, when i asked was it a 3 or 4 year warranty, he replied "it has a lifetime warranty sir ". Turns out Bosch now make a battery called "Asia Silver ", and is made to conform to the japanese industry standards ( JIS ), and its also maintenance free :D , I new my battery has been getting slower over the last few weeks , and this cold weather has finished it off. Bosch have a web site where you can find your local dealer boschautoparts.co.uk :D
  14. I've done a couple of oil and filter changes on my IS200 , read on.... 1) Jack up front of car , put on axle stands. 2) Remove under belly pan, this includes the 4" splash trim each side under the front. 3 ) Once under bell pan off, the oil filter is mounting on N/S of engine, up over the alloy engine mounting and also in line with the crossmember, its mounted in a very tight spot, once undone, remove old filter from back side of cross member. 3), before fitting new oil filter ,top up filter with new engine oil, let the level drop then top up again.( reason for doing this is help get full oil pressure on first start up , old motor trade trick !). 4) Fit new filter ,try to keep it up right , untill you screw it on . 5) Undo drain plug and drain out oil, ( if still hot , TAKE CARE ! ) if your buying your filter from Toyota/Lexus dealer , ask for a new drain plug seal. 6 )The rest of the job is like any other car, tighten filter, double check sump plug, refit under belly pan, add engine oil, start and run engine keep an eye on dash oil light, turn back off ,top up oil to correct level.......job done , just saved yourself a small fortune and have the satisfaction the the jobs been done correctly. Bob B).
