  1. Just wondering if any members watched 'Racing Legends' with Sir Patrick Stewart on his idol Sir Stirling Moss. What a brilliant programme and what a sportsman, to lose the world championship by one point after protesting against the disqualification of Mike Hawthorne and getting him reinstated.......cost him the title! Bit like snooker players and golfers calling their own fouls, if only footballers would learn from them. If you missed it, get it on iPlayer or catchupTV, it's worth watching.
  2. Hiya shabz23, just wondering if you took a photo of the pothole and the resulting damage. i have heard of people claiming successfully against the council for this sort of thing. Would be worth a go if you are able to prove that it was definitely the pot hole that caused the damage. Might get you a contribution (or more) towards a replacement wheel.
  3. I am an IS man (at the moment anywy) but really like the job you have done.
  4. Yes Carl, that's the one, many thanks. Were you pleased with the LED's and was the fitting procedure straightforward? The LEDs are bright and white, fitting was just as the video on here showed and was straight forward. Probably took me 10 minutes to do all. As mentioned before, use something non metal to avoid marking your trim. Other than that, it was a easy to do. I will be doing my is220 as well shortly, followed by the wing mirror LEDs . Carl Thanks again Carl, I will definitely have a go at mine then. Perhaps you could let us know how the wing mirror upgrade goes. Not sure I will be keen to mess about with the glass, but might change my mind after you have told us how yours went.
  5. Yes Carl, that's the one, many thanks. Were you pleased with the LED's and was the fitting procedure straightforward?
  6. Very smart, thanks for the photo. presumably this is available from the dealers.
  7. Hi Geoffers, yes I did find that one but I'm absolutely positive that there is a thread with an eBay link. Thanks for your help though. Hope you're having a great Christmas
  8. Well done after all the cooking and entertaining, Time to put your feet up and relax. Thanks for the offer of the piccy.
  9. Hell folks, I'm looking for a little help please. I've just been searching through the various forums looking for a thread that I think was started during the second half of this year. It was to do with the replacement of all of the interior bulbs on an IS250 with LED's. There was also a link to a seller on eBay who was providing a full set of replacements. I have found the one with the video showing how to get at the bulbs but, I really would like to find the one with the eBay link. Do you think that I can find this thread, not on your life I can't. Too much festive fayre I think, dulling the old concentration! If anyone is really switched on and spots it, I really will bemost grateful for the pointer. Many thanks.
  10. Hello Mike, Merry Christmas to you too. I hope that you get lots of fun hours from driving your new car. Have a look here for your manual........................ https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/info/my-lexus/resources/submit-owners-manual-search;JSESSIONID_LEXUSDRIVERS=XRScQhRFSL1dqypVl1XkZ6RyQFVLf0gMp0XF2h2xyqc9nVDmtgn7!773703415 Hope this will help.
  11. Merry Christmas Carl, would love to see a piccy of the prezzy, if it's what I'm looking for, I could treat myself with the money Santa gave me.
  12. Hiya Kev, I had a similar problem a little while ago and started a thread on it. Have a look here....http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=79420&hl=
  13. Memories eh normski2! I had an Allegro, somewhere around 1972 I think it was, Can't remember the exact colour but i do recall that it was something like an avocado, bloody awful and oh that square steering wheel too! Had a Morris 1000 too, even remember the reg. 3308 RF and the whine from the axle is lodged firmly in the memory.
  14. Hiya PEPE, thank you for your input to my query. I too use Specsavers and so will have a word with them to see what can be done as regards prescription lenses. I will also have a word with my usual lens and frame provider who incidentally, provide my lenses and frames at less than half the Specsaver cost (they also supply many opticians with their frames and lenses) and so I might get a good deal there! I have also spotted that yellow lenses are available as clip-ons to be worn over your normal everyday specs, similar I suppose to clip-on sunglasses. These appear to be relatively inexpensive so I might do a 'test-run' with these first. I see that you are of my era, I have been told that just after being born, I was tucked up in a nice warm blanket in a cardboard box at the bottom of the cellar steps whilst the bombs were dropping all around us!! Do you have a similar story? Have yourself a really good Christmas PEPE, best wishes too for a Happy and Healthy 2013 too. And finally, welcome to the 72 Club, Happy Birthday for Monday. Hope you get seperate prezzies!!!!
  15. Just smashed my pc monitor trying to swat the bug!!!!!!!!!!!! only joking!! Seriously though, Merry Christmas and a great New Year to all our members along with special thanks to all who offered help with my queries during the year. I echo Raymond.................be safe!
  16. Hi again Ray, I can see Dawlish across the water from where I live. I will keep my eyes open for you if I'm over that way. Have yourself a great time when you get there.
  17. Hi Ray, yes I realised that there are only two doors a while after I had posted but forgot to do an edit. Thanks anyway. Will you be working when you come to Devon or will it be pleasure for you. Whereabouts are you off to?
  18. Pretty fantastic eh! Is the operation the same for a four door car?
  19. I have been watching this too and pointed the car out to my wife. When I first saw it, it was being driven as an 'open top' jobby and then later it looked like an ordinary hard top saloon! I thought that they had changed the car but obviously not. Where on earth does the top go when they put it down, or do they take it off and leave it in the garage!!! Must admit I've never seen one.
  20. could you possibly put a link on here to your thread as struggling to find it and it would be much appreciated Here you go then BigChaz1982, read the whole thread completely. I had considerable success with the cleaning kit but obviously can't promise that it will definitely sort your problem but would be well worth a go I would have thought. The chap that I purchased it from was extremely helpful and, he would have done the job for me if I had lived closer to him. he made the same offer to anyone who purchased the kit. If I can help any further please let me know. Here is the link:- http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=76569&hl=
  21. I have worn specs virtually all my life, at least since I was about 8 years old and had the measles which I gather was the cause of my sight problems. When I was working I used to wear contact lenses most of the time. I still wear them now but only for when I play snooker. I am happier with late night driving, less cars about which of course results in less dazzle. Driving in the dark and wet during the 'commuter hours' is what I dislike most though
  22. As the years have passed me by (rather quickly it now seems!) I am less and less keen on driving at night in the dark, particularly on miserable wet, low visibility nights and, although not always possible, I do tend to try to avoid the situation where I can. I am wondering if many of our LOC members feel the same as I do and if so, do you make use of night driving glasses and if so, are there any particular makes that you would recommend? What about prescription night driving glasses, do any of you use these? I look forward to hearing any of your comments.
  23. Yep, I have dealt with Andy a few times and have always had top notch service. I have two Lexus dealerships closer to me here in Exmouth, Devon but prefer to use Andy at Poole. Can't get my locals to return my calls or emails!
  24. Hiya, have a look at this link (below)and, whilst you will find it helpful to read all of the thread, in the first instance have a look at post number 14, this will give you an indication what I got from my 220d. I too have moved up to the IS250 merely because of the very low annual mileage that I now do, which I have learned is not good when owning a diesel. The 220d was at that time the best car that I had ever owned, that accolade now falls to the IS250. http://www.lexusowne...wtopic=76569= Have been on a 46 mile round trip today in the 250 and on A roads mainly with a small amount of B roads, reset the trip at the start and on arrival at home the computer was showing 39mpg, I hope that this is of some help to you.
  25. Can't see in any of these posts that anyone has made use of the EGR Cleaning Kit that I used so successfully and described in my thread "Problems Headed off at the Pass" Members have discussed cleaning the EGR Valve and resetting the ECU but nothing else, perhaps that's where the problem is.............possibly!!
