  1. Skullduggery me thinks! :shruriken: Very much so. You see this regular on fleabay. They think fleabay is the be all and end all of selling, when they see their item/s not doing well they remove them so they don't lose out, often saying, i dropped it or somebody hit it by accident, just tried it and saw a fault blah blah. When doing this fleabay should have a rule of a mark against their account, 3 marks and it's ban from that IP address. Other way is always set a minimum and maybe offer a buy it now, BIN does bring it's own issues though as some members have seen on here before.
  2. They use oil that comes in barrels..... Tell them it needs to be refined by a reputable company first, then put into a car, crude oil ain't going to lubricate nothing
  3. Hiya You could do no worse than having a look at this http://www.pure.com/product/highway-vl-60905/ and this http://www.pure.com/product/highway-300di-vl-61716/
  4. The wonderful "buy it now" issue, simple tip. Do not bother with it. I have and had the same crap, despite stipulating rules for the BIN sale, you will always get some lowlife who just wrecks your sale, whether for fun or plain stupidity. Only thing to do is report them to Ebay and give them negative feedback, if they get enough bad reports they will get banned and the negative feedback should help others in seeing what they are like as a buyer before they get that inevitable ban. Nothing to stop them setting up a new account to do it again though. And on the subject of wheels for a Mk3, on Ebay at this moment i have 3 wheels for sale at auction, would be nice to see them go to a forum member who will use them. (sorry to hijack your post with the sale bit, will buy you a few beers if we get to meet up)
  5. Very sad tale indeed. This is the downside of the LED market, you can get some real crap ones capable of causing damage. I don't think it is related to price of the LED's either. I would venture a guess at some normal bulbs could be capable of causing damage too. The moral of the story should be a lesson to us all, change out OE items at you risk
  6. Absolutely. The people that work there have a combined IQ of less then an amoeba, and that's being kind, as for customer service, i think Saddam Hussain would be better.
  7. Ok the issue is all sorted, the EBC discs i was sold were marked as Ls430 front discs, i assumed they were correct and i didn't look at the part number also written in small on the label, that said 43512-50130 which turns out to be the part number for Ls400 front discs, when doing a side by side comparison, the disc from my car was about 5mm thinner in total than the new part which maybe explains why it was catching the back edge of the caliper. They have got new discs today after an early morning chat, and i collected them on the way home from work, this time the box says Ls430 and OE part number 43512-50230 which is the correct part as per Lexus. They are still EBC and i will have a crack at putting them on at the weekend. So who made the error of putting wrong stickers on boxes me thinks
  8. A very sad situation indeed, but don't give up, I had a great 97 plate Ls400 and was very quiet on the road, and the engine noise was a blast, all in all gave me miles of smiles in luxury. I agree that the Ls430 is more noisier from wheel noise, the tyres you have may not be the best for this model. The noise is also due to not hearing the engine so much and better noise reduction all round, so everything else appears louder. My current Ls430 is very quiet, several of my work colleagues and friends and family have driven both my old Ls400 and Ls430, they have commented on how much better the 430 is over the 400 in all things, noise included. I have 3 different makes of tyre on my Ls430, on it when i purchased it, they all have different noise levels, i can barely hear the rears, and they are a cheaper brand as well, Accelera, i have a pirelli P7 and a Dunlop Sport on the front and they are noisy.
  9. Was out yesterday evening so could not do any answering or checking. The car is back together as it was but with new pads as needed to use it last night. When i was doing the job, the pads were out of the caliper but it was still attached, with the original disc on it spun nicely and no contact, caliper removed and new disc on held by couple of lugs, caliper was catching on the rear face were the pads go onto the inner edge of the disc. I'm busy today, got inlaws over for lunch today so won't be looking. If i get time tomorrow i will remove the original disc and do a side by side comparison with the new disc to see if i can spot any differences as Bookend suggested.
  10. Don't need the removal bolts or new caliper bolts thanks mate, the disc came off without any hitting or kicking so that was fine. Pads came out nice and simple as well. The bad bit is the new disc's, removed the caliper and held it up safe on an old axle stand to protect the hoses from damage, disc came away easy as i said, cleaned the area and new disc with brake cleaner, offered the disc up and it fitted on the wheel studs, Gave it a spin to check for noise on the bearing as I thought I had a problem with it, but it spun fine. Held disc in place with 2 wheel lugs while i attempted to put the caliper on. That's where the fun started, the caliper is binding on the rear of the disc when i started to fasten the holding bolts, so had a faff about to see it anything was out of place, nothing seemed wrong, put the old disc back on and re-offered the caliper up and no binding, so to ease my mind i tried the new disc again, and it binds on the caliper. So I rang Sutton Auto Parts and they assure me it is a direct replacement part and they have sold 2 other sets without issue, easy to claim that I thought. So any idea's apart from the new disc is not correct part despite it saying so on the disc box.
  11. I do think i would have gone for that if i'd known, would have been fine for parts and an even bigger trike. Wifey didn't say no so i guess with more niceties i may be in there.
  12. Would be worth it for parts i guess. 4 new tyres would be about the price he asks. Use the engine / gearbox to make a trike (wife is watching me as i type this so i hope she gets my idea )
  13. The 17mm ones that hold the caliper to the hub yes indeed. According to Lexus manual they are a non reusable item. And I have had a bolt snap on a motorcycle caliper when i reused it a few years ago so that's why I'm cautious. What size are the threaded holes you mention to pop the disc off ? This documents shows what i mean about the bolts. Front Brake Components.pdf
  14. Hiya gang Any idea on part numbers or where i can get myself a set for the front, need to do my discs, think i have a warped front right disc. I'm under the impression these bolts are a 1 time only use.
  15. I agree with the curtain wire method, after seeing posts before and having my old Ls400 suffer a leaky rear end. Couple of quid from local hardware dealer and a bit of fiddling, wasn't the fix for me as the drains were clear. The sunroof rear drain holes are the hardest to get to from the top as they are at the back corners of the sunroof and you have to feel your way with the wire, the fronts are easy enough, they are in the front corners. Word of caution, don't go like a bull at a gate, easy prodding to save on causing damage. As to where they come out under the car i cannot say. Is water in the center part where the spare wheel sits ? Not sure what to say as to where the water is getting in, could be as a result of the blocked tubes or leaking through bottom of screen area, just have a good look about for water trails, they usually leave a sign. "suffer a leaky rear end" Can there be a more antisocial problem ??????? Mike Hmm i need to think before i type is my lesson of the day I won't try to adjust what i said, it will only degenerate

  17. The water ingress could be from the sun roof drains being blocked, several threads on this forum regarding it. I think the very end of the drain tube comes out through the bottom of rear wheel well on each side, maybe the end is blocked with road crud backing the water drain up. There was mention of water getting in via the bottom corners of the rear screen on the 400's, that was talked about in one of the threads, unsure if it can happen on the 430's. When you finally get the filler flap open, check around the edges in there, that could be another way in. I'm sure others will have some ideas as well, good luck.
  18. These are copies, costs pennies for the seller to rip you off. If anyone on here has one just copy the DVD and post it to who ever needs it, 2nd class stamp and a blank DVD + 10 mins work. I got rid on mine when i got rid of the 400, nice chap on here did me a copy of the 430 manual, even dropped it through my door. Reminds me, where did i put it, these cars don't break often so I won't be using it very much.
  19. Define job, could be anything from a service to welding. Must email Lexus and ask for a crystal ball to be incorporated into the next model. Independent service you could try these, guy i know has used on his bmw, http://www.servicingstop.co.uk/ they do repairs as well but how well or how much I can't say.
  20. Here you go, not much help if the cord is missing i know, I did see the indent you refer to, don't know if it's for the pull tab to sit in, you can just see it slightly above my tab with my poor photographing skills, didn't realize the pull tab had a velcro back to stick it to the trim. Lets hope yours is just stuck behind the trim and not snapped
  21. Just re-read your original post, "I've looked in the boot for the handle to open it but it's not there. Theres an indent in the panel where it should be" I re-checked mine a little while ago and I can't see no indent, will take a photo in the morning and post it on here. Those of you with a Ls400 in case you don't know, your manual filler release is in the same position on the right side of the car next to the toolkit. Makes you wonder why Lexus moved the filler to the other side when they designed the 430.
  22. The in boot manual pull cord is located on the left side of the boot right next to the tool kit, remove the tool kit as it may have pushed the cord into where the kit lives and hidden it.
  23. You can also fit sunglasses in there, i did Dunno about the lights though, what would you want lights there for anyway, lights you have should be more than powerful or do you want to blind other road users, you know what people think of drivers who do that You can only see the fogs from the front and I don't think daylight running lights would go there as the lenses look like they facing to the sides of the car, can you even have lights facing out the sides of a car apart from indicator repeaters ?
