  1. Spoke to a paint shop guy on way home today, micro-blisters are a common problem caused by repairs done in adverse conditions, usually it is moisture trapped between the coats of paint that cause the problem, often these coats are rushed as well by not following the correct drying times for the paints used. To fix it the offending area needs to be taken back to bare metal, scuffed and thoroughly cleaned then resprayed and laquer etc, and it needs to be done in a good clean dry environment for best results.

  3. Good fix I hope, saved you a few hundred £ at Lexus. Well done
  4. Hmm... I would say that is Herpes, where you been with that car. Serious though, if it feels rough then i would agree the clearcoat laquer is damaged. If not then the paint has managed to get compromised somehow, as stated, maybe an earlier repair. If that is all there is then a small repair should not cost too much from a reputable spray shop or even a mobile fixer like chips away, or others like them. I used them on damage to my wing paint, you cannot tell where the paint problem was now. Cost less than £130 all in and a few cups of tea while the chap did the fix. Took about 2hrs.
  5. Try this website. http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/Home/Index I still have the original map that came with my 53 Ls430, never needed to update it so haven't bothered. As scudney states, no postcode search i'm afraid, shame Lexus don't do this, would make it spot on combined with the current setup. You will need to look at your current disc for the number printed on the front, it's fairly easy to get to in the boot right side, just be careful you don't lose the 2 bolts holding the disc unit in place, they are a pig to get back out. Think it was about £120 but i'm sure that others here can put a more exact figure on it.
  6. I think with Colin's description of location and this image you should find the beast in question O2 sensor.pdf
  7. I reckon you need one of these for the parcel shelf, for that "in ur face" look http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Middle-Finger-Desk-Sculpture-Life-Size-Oxidized-Brass-Effect-/161056010203?pt=UK_Collectables_WeirdStuff_RL&hash=item257fafafdb But you could do no worse than this...I think the roof rack is over doing it a little, don't you think Although i think the rest of us LS owners would have to lynch you if you did
  8. The ride is pimped indeed, looks good Driving in your bare feet now eh ? Only down side will be keeping the skins clean though
  9. Wonder if the museum will let us set fire to bangers and burgers on their lawn ?
  10. Looks like the camping side of the get together is dying a death
  11. Hi Messi Is it cranking strongly? If not your battery may be weak. Also your key battery may be low - other radio sources may interfere with the operation of the transmitter if the key battery is low (mobile phone in your pocket etc). The unlocking and immobiliser are separate systems and I think I have seen what you are seeing with my 430. The key battery is £1 down the market or £3 in Maplin's followed by a Youtube video on how to change it. If I remember correctly the bat is a CR2032. Bren Batteries for the remote fobs are indeed CR2032 or DL2032, BR2032, KL2032, L2032 and a few others, the letters at the front are related to the manufacturer, the 20 is for 20mm wide and the 32 is for 3.2mm thickness. Replaced mine few weeks ago with Duracell DL2032.

  13. I will get in touch with Sir David Attenborough and see if he can get a new series looking for this rare creature. Mike Not David Attenborough pleeeeease! Surely some one else works for the BBC, or maybe he's cheap which is why he's always, and I mean always on. He is one of the only ones left at the BBC it seems lots of the others were in Jimmy & Garys gang. It also seems Sooty & Sweep have a case pending. I always thought it was a bit odd having a middle aged man with is hand up your backside. Mike Didn't realise it was his hand Damn you. My childhood memories has been destroyed, i need beer to ponder this revalation.
  14. Looks like she just lost some trade with that 3 night jobby. I think we all will do 1 night only.
  15. Sad story indeed, but a hugely inspirational man to thousands of people around the world
  16. Well we are back from the Isle of Man TT 2013, and what a blast it was. It is not just bikes, bikes and more bikes, that is the main attraction obviously, but there was so much more we did. Seals playing off the coast within spitting distance if you do the spitting crap. Steam trains, electric railway, scenery as beautiful as the lake district just to add a few. But the best bit by far was taking the Ls430 around the full TT course. We got round 37.75 miles in 37minutes. Just a picture for you, top of Bray Hill (500 meters from the accident where 11 spectators got hurt on Fri) doing 190mph, and yes you are this close
  17. Regards camping,i do not mind which campsite we decide on, so count me as either will suffice Would be great if we could all go to the same one, should be nice to spend an evening chatting, barbie etc if the weather holds up for us
  18. Pop the offending wheel off and manually turn the hub and listen, as Bluesman said it may be a pad rubbing, caliper may just need a good clean. Obviously get the car safe to jack up first before you remove the wheel Can one of you (JPJSavage/Maduggo) grow a beard and wear contact lenses, I thought for a minute you were giving advice on your own problem. Mike Look at our avatar's my head is tilted one way and Jpjsavage's head is tilted the other, tis simplicity. And mine seems bigger but we won't pass comments on that will we boys and girls

  20. Don't know if this fit's, but when i tried to login yesterday i could not at all, sent me off to a website saying no connection. Maybe just a glitch me thinks. And you do as we all do have the right to speak, if what you say is against the rules then you should be warned of what it is and how it is against the rules, and also what action is to be taken, thread removed etc
  21. Ok Steve, count me and other half in for both the museum and camping, 24th August is good
  22. Should be checked warm not cold see if its up then, Coolant can be bought off ebay £26 for 5 litres concentrated delivered. Have checked it cold, warm and hot, still on the low marker. Is this the coolant you are referring to http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Chill-Factor-5-Litres-Antifreeze-and-Summer-Coolant-RED-for-Lexus-LS430-/200915900345?pt=UK_Vehicle_Oils_Lubricants_Fluids&hash=item2ec78557b9
  23. Sorry to partially hijack your post. My Ls430 coolant is on the low marker, it is a pink colour. What is the lexus part number for this stuff as i would prefer to put in the stuff they use. Is it readily available without paying through the bank manager.
