  1. You are not being a stirrer are you Chris? Wot me do that, no sir. I do like seeing a good debate held in good spirits though
  2. Getting a chair and a cuppa to continue viewing this enthralling Lexus civilized discussion.
  3. Had a look this afternoon. Is nice although there are bits and pieces on the bodywork that need doing. Mileage didn't put me of and it did drive nicely. Had a full service history too with Lexus Aberdeen. I do think it is a bit much though and I wasn't blown away with it. My Mk 4 is just as nice a place to be in my opinion. I think you have made your decision already really, "I wasn't blown away with it. My Mk 4 is just as nice a place to be in my opinion" If that comment is true, then personally i would keep my money in the bank and stay with the current car. Just my opinion though
  4. Its 140k, no not this ‘bush’ advisory just one for “slight play in front ball joint” but I know what happened with the ball joint, I hit quite high kerb hard (ripped the tyre) avoiding a squirrel but this bush thing I have never had. I think it was the way Lexus came across telling me I had to get lower suspension arms, I don’t even know what bushes are or what they do, but all of a sudden I was confronted with ‘lower suspension arms’ were needed, of course, me being illiterate on these things I simply thought ‘”a suspension problem” & do know that’s not to be taken lightly….…so I thought ‘what next’, because I am illiterate on these things. But its coming through on here that the thing as a whole is not a huge problem that needs urgent attention. Its all made worse ‘cause I had Profess booked for last Wed, both tax & new insurance are due end of month so decisions have to be made as accurate as possible, including the breakers potential & all the hassle of buying another, which in reality might have the exact same problem or no problems at all for this next 10 years. Anyway the replies are giving me clearer, in context, picture so I am non to worried at the moment ‘cept about the LPG conversion. Thanks for all replies & thanks for fedback on that LS seller or maybe dealer, I agree prices are going up & noticed there are more being sold by dealers than there used to be, seems to indicate some kind of organised system. An advisory is exactly what it says, an advisory, meaning you are being advised that a part or area is showing signs of damage, wear, etc that is not yet an mot failure, but given time that part or area may turn to a mot failure. It is not compulsory to sort out an advisory immediately. Do this when you feel the need to. A failure of any sort is the only thing that is compulsory to sort out before the car will be issued a new mot.
  5. Sounds ok to me. Maybe get a few more to attend this time, especially if they have seen the piccies and that we had a bit of a good chat-a-long. 2nd June i will be tearing round the Isle of Man TT course as it is known as "TT Mad Sunday" I will be doing this in the Ls430, legalised speeding, whoooop
  6. Bank hol weekend is good for me, 26th is my birthday so it can be an early booze up.
  7. On my Ls430, under the steering column i have a small round push button switch, it does activate / de-activate the smart key system. Dunno if the Ls400 mk 4 had this feature installed, as for the wire nodule thing, i would go for a microphone, or whats left of one from a hands free kit. Could it have anything to do with a leaky rear end? Mike Oh no, not the leaky rear end again

  9. My choice is, sorry me and the other half's choice is Museum, camping site, beer, barbecue, more beer, seconds at barbecue, some more beer, set-up tent, and maybe just another beer or 3 to celebrate if i set the tent up the right way. For entertainment we could play boot golf in the LS's, they big enough. After you have fell about laughing at me setting up a tent. If all else fails then skeggy followed by beer etc, you get the picture
  10. I'm up for the trip to the motor museum, other half is ok with it too, only condition we have is it needs to be weekend, damn work gets in the way of all fun. As for camping, we both up for that too, sadly needs to be weekend again, bloody work grr, I like the skegness pod thingamadoodads, barby is good with a few good peeps and a few more good beers. First week in june is a no go, hols to isle of man for the TT racing, 2nd week in sept is out too, family hols lake district, other times should be fine, other half does work the odd saturday but will be able to sort i reckon as long as dates are know.
  11. Agreed, offered me to have a waft in the big lady as well, top bloke Some really nice pics there, good day had by all me thinks
  12. I see you replaced the car you had at the Lexi meet then with this shiny clean one Seriously though, very well done, looks good
  13. How long did it actualy take just for the clay bar polishing? Mike In all it took about 4hrs from start to finish. Each segment took about an hour in all, wash, clay bar, polish then wax, then 30 minutes gawping at what i had done and blinding myself in the glare from the reflection of my head Not rushing just be careful as you do, the clay bar i did in sections as you have to keep the working area lubricated with the fluid that came with the bar as, also did the polish and wax in sections as well. 1 microfiber cloth to wipe up after the clay segment, 2 microfiber cloths each for polish and wax, 1 used to put it on other to take it off, you know the saying, wax on etc.
  14. Just a couple of pics, crap at it though. Gave her a clean, clay bar, polish and wax this morning. Paintwork feels like glass now. Bloody knackered working under that strange yellow thing in the sky, think i need an urgent injection of cool refreshing beer to sort me out
  15. Can I just rinse it with water after clay or do I have to shampoo it again...can you tell I don't like washing my car lol When i clay bar my car i did not rinse it, just used a microfibre cloth to remove the detailing fluid, then polished up the car.
  16. Did mine this morning, good wash, clay bar, polish then wax. Used the Meguirs 3 part system. Feels like glass. Would comb my hair in the reflection if i had any to comb
  17. Iv'e seen better looking piles of rust in a scrapyard. Colour coordination of a dead slug. Going to have my eyes sorted now.
  18. I have an LS430 and am going to be changing the exhaust to one from Tony Banks in Leeds. I did call him to check out what is done etc, he stated that you can do various things with the bespoke fitting, different tailend fittings, including making it just as quiet as it is originally, you can go down the V8 burble route as well if you wish. Just a note, the replacement exhaust is only the sections from the cat back, not the entire thing to the manifold. I would recommend giving them a call and out your mind at ease first.
  19. I'm not great at photo's and all that, but i think you can digitally alter photos in computer programs like photoshop to get them to look better. Like here http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-fix-an-overexposed-digital-photo.html Never tried it so can't help other than that.
  20. Well just got back home from the meeting (via wollaton park to see napoleon get his ***** kicked in a re-enactment, shame they didn't guillotine him). Has been a really nice day and thanks Mr Sun for making an appearance, met some good peeps at the Lexi meet, even my other half liked it and she don't do cars and meets, so much so she wants to go to the next one. Glad i could help out with fixing up a satnav issue for one of the attendee's, sorry now as i'm crap at names. Big thanks must go to all who made it, and especially to Ian for the setting the meet up Cya next time and i will stay longer as well.
  21. Late entrant here i know, count me in for around 11am ish Only a few miles from home so i shouldn't get lost
  22. I have some ebay tailored mats in my 430, they are ok and do the job, nowhere near as good as the original ones i admit. Got me looking at new ones now. Did you go for the super or ultra deluxe version of the car mats ?
