  1. And another happy customer with a clean mot, next Lexus owner please
  2. Sorted my time for sunday, going to the meet for 11am ish then onto wollaton park to meet friends for the afternoon and some drinks of course. Will give the old girl a scrub later, if i get chance i will wash the car to Cya there tomorrow guys
  3. Just been browsing fleabay as you do and found this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-LS-400-free-with-Wedding-Ribbon-T-T-purrs-beautifully-Cherished-Reg-MAC-/161013199176?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Celebrations_Occasions_ET&hash=item257d227148 I think the seller has been to close to the barmaids apron as the fumes must be doing some odd things
  4. Just to prove that some ignorant slimey dirtbags still exist. Left my car to grab a few bits for motorbike, came back and saw what i thought was muck on my rear bumper, told myself off for being a slob and not keeping it clean. When i got home and was getting car ready for washing i noticed it was if fact a scrape and not muck. So some affore-mentioned waste of human life has hit my car and drove off, not sure if it was done whilst on that trip, but that's when i noticed it. I could get vengeful but that won't fix it despite making me feel better. Had some touch up paint left from when i had my front wing chip done, so for now i used it to cover the worst, until same guy can come and make a proper job of it, only worry is that it has scored into the plastic, i'm sure they can sort it though.
  5. Cars can be replaced, you cannot. You are doing what any normal person would do and for the right reasons. Take care Pete and "we will" see you back in a lexie when the time is right
  6. I could do with the drivers door off it. I wonder?? Mike Probably would raise the value of his car. I can see the advert now..... Welcome to the all new Lexus real life air-con system
  7. Well i got a reply, it was ???? I have also noticed the the negative feedback stating the car is not fit to be on the road is gone. It gets fishier. Barge-pole comes to mind, as in not touch this car with one.
  8. Iv'e just asked why last purchaser rejected it, let's see if he says the same thing as the buyer who rejected it.
  9. It's never a nice thing to hear that someone you know (even on this kind of forum) is heading down the losing job path, can't imagine how you must be feeling. The only thing i can offer is just keep plugging away, something will turn your way sooner or later, not much i know, sorry.
  10. Sorry if you think mine has rust, could have put the question better i guess, it don't have any yet that i know of (looking for a piece of wood to touch). Was checking up on the "what if" scenario, as i know companies try to slither out of anything they can nowadays.
  11. Ok folks, back to the rust bit. Frostyboy123 in his start post mentioned 12yr anti perforation warranty. If my 2003 developed a rust area, say near the wing mirrors as in his post. Would i be able to claim any warranty repair, even if i did not purchase the car brand new from Lexus.
  12. Hiya and welcome I have a Ls430 so not exactly the same car, i recently changed my serpentine belt myself at 65k, only because it was making a little whining noise on startup, checking the old belt after it did not show signs of damage, just looked worn. How long it had been on the car i cannot say, maybe from new. As for the predicted service life, i cannot say, but for the price of a new belt, less than £20 for mine, i don't consider it a worry if i changed it every 20k miles. I would only worry if i checked it it after 20k miles and it looked worn, i bet that would be a sign of bad things, but Lexus don't break do they ?
  13. Exactly, don't ever risk electrickery. What compressor you using to blow the fuse, i have one of these in my garage and it's faultless on both the cars i have. http://www.motor-world.co.uk/single-part.aspx?PartNumber=RINRAC630
  14. I did the rear brakes on my old LS400 97 plate, can't remember brand of discs but they were about £100 a pair, pads were ferodo again about that price, while i had the rears off, a mate did the parking brake as well as it is accessible when you do the rear brakes. Sensors were ok so not done, can't help sorry. When done the brakes worked a treat, did feel better than before the change, we did the front discs and pads too and a brake fluid change and bleed (well mate did most of it).
  15. It's a relatively simple task, even i managed it solo after looking at how to do it and a simple diagram. I'm in Nottingham 2miles from J26 (near Ikea), i can help you with it, only issue is i'm on duty (City Hospital Nottm) from Sat thru to next Fri, if you want to meet me at my home in the evening or at work over this weekend i can help you with it. Let me know. P.S. the cost will be my usual fee, next time you see me in a pub, get me a beer
  16. Same symptoms mine had, did the belt and bingo, squeak is no more. Got mine from here, free delivery too, went for the continental brand as i know they are good quality. http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/car-drive-belt
  17. Very nice looking car there sir, well done Hoping to get to the may meet as well, only 3 miles from my house, but not sure if i'm working yet.
  18. No mate. The serpentine belt is also known as an engine belt, accessory belt, older cars even a fan belt. It's the belt that is right at the front of the engine, it drives the steering pump, alternator etc. Did mine a short time back, took less the 30 mins. Cam belt is another story that i don't have any answers to.
  19. Hope you enjoy, don't forget that we are photophiles on here so some images of the new motor will be required
  20. Cotswold Pete, spent 90 mins on doing just the doors, boot and bonnet. The clay lasts ages so i'm told, and is not too expensive to replace. Not used T-Cut so cannot say. Ipwn, you can get a product to help with the swirls, several companies have a product, meguiars do swirlx that i know of, guy in the shop tried to sell me some.
  21. One thing i have noticed straight away is how smooth a finished area is in looks and feel. When you next get to your car, with a clean dry hand palm down, just brush along a painted surface and feel and hear the roughness of the paint. After the treatment i'm using, the same palm touch is no sound and feels like glass. Does take a while though as you do 3 procedures on the same area, it's recommended you do a small area at a time. Video here at this link, has the full kit i have as well.
  22. Some very nice images of clean luxury vehicles there. Well done chaps Bizarre how we all seem to be starting at the same time, been doing a bit on mine today. Been using Meguiars three part system, Detailer mist and clay bar, deep crystal polish and finally deepcrystal carnauba wax. Got disturbed so not finished it, will post pics next week when i finish it off.
  23. Contacted the chaps in Leeds, they will help me out when i can get the car to them, while you wait fix too. Have made a temporary repair but it shows, will sort a cat back system from them in the near future. Thx for the help
  24. I have know of this stuff, will a fix with this allow an MOT pass if it's done in a visible area ? The rear boxes on mine are not stainless by the look of them, the pipes do look stainless though, can't see fully under the car so can't say for the full length or nearer the motor. Glad to hear a upbeat answer for the Leeds company, thanks Bookend, will have a chat with them, see what they offer verbally, and what the 87 different designs are.
  25. Need a hand folks, know of any sellers who do a good quality aftermarket rear backbox for Ls430 2003. There is a company in Leeds who do a cat-back system, dunno if they any good though. Google search don't bring much joy. Lexus prices are loaded in pound signs. A stone (i think) has holed one of mine and it sounds a bit noisy now, not a nice noisy either, glad i got a while to the next MOT, want to get it done asap though
