  1. After one week, it still feels like a new car. Iniatially it was reading 27.2 mpg driving around town last weekend ,but has now dropped back down to 22.8mpg due to stop start London traffic. I can honestly say the car feels more responsive, and I haven't even tried the ECT mode yet. I'm pretty sure I can get the figures up to the mid 30's on a good long run. The only thing I had to reset were the windows the the seat memory positions.
  2. Having gone through three Honda Accords from 1996 up to 2003 model year before buying an IS250, the only thing I fancy on the road now is either a BMW M5 or a 2007 onwards 335i. Problem is; I can't stand beemer drivers. Most of the ones in London drive like arrogant idiots.
  3. After lots of reading and spiralling petrol prices I finally disconnected the negative cable from my battery in order to reset my ecu. My IS250 had been feeling a bit sluggish for a few weeks, and I had recently had a full service including plugs, oil and filters. I had been averaging 23.7 mpg on my 12 mile daily commute of stop start traffic, but even in ECT mode the acceleration was not really up to par. I have owned this car for a year now, and suspect that the previous owner was an old fuddy duddy as the speed alert was set at 72 mph. After reconnecting the battery lead, on the first attempt the car would not start(apparently quite normal), but started at the next push of the button. I drove sedately for a few miles, and noticed a slight vibrating noise coming from under the bonnet. This died away after about 2 miles. The car is making all kinds of strange electrical noises at the moment, but driving perfectly. It's as if it is resetiing everything. I have have it set to normal mode at the moment, and after 9 miles am already up to 25.2 mpg. It feels like a new car. I will keep you posted on the progress.
  4. I've got these tyres on the front of my IS250 but cant seem to find them for the rear(245/45 R17). Very good tyres for the money and pretty quiet.
  5. I've seen this car before. I live in Greenford, sure it must be the same car.
  6. Lots of manufacturers are using sealed for life units including Mercedes and BMW. I would recommend you take it to a transmission specialist and have them drain the transmission and replace the oil with new Toyota ATF WS transmission fluid. The IS250 transmission is programmed to stay in low gears until the fluid gets to a certain temperature, so on cold mornings it will take longer to change up the 4th gear anyway. By the way; there is no dipstick !
  7. Mine does exactly the same. No tilt on passenger side. Pretty sure its the gears in the mirror assembly. I have read somewhere that this is a known fault.
  8. I've used National Autocare twice, with two different vehicles. I guess I must be lucky. You can obviously buy a Toyota filter, and ask them to use that instead.
  9. I just had a oil and filter change at my local branch of National Tyre and Autocare. I purchased this online and used a promotional code. Grand total of £44.60. Before you ask; yes they did use the correct oil. Castrol Edge 5w-30, which I would have chosen my self. I actually watched the technician go through the whole process, and was quite impressed, as he was very methodical. I have used this place before on my previous car( Honda Accord), so I knew what to expect. They obviously buy huge ammounts of oil, that are still in the original barrels, which state the viscosity. It might be worth checking this out if you want to save some pennies, as you couldn't buy 6.5 litres of this oil at that price.
  10. I think you might also benefit from a set of component speakers instead of a coaxial pair. This way you will get a cleaner soundstage at the front.
  11. Ditch the 6x9's and put a proper boxed subwoofer in the boot. Bridge channels 3 and 4 on the amp to get a decent amount of power to the sub.
  12. I'm aware its RWD thanks. I wasn't suggesting the front tyres had anything to do with it. I was merely stating the fronts are wearing faster than the rears.
  13. I think it's time to treat my car to some new rear tyres. Kind of strange though as the tread on the fronts is lower than the rears.
  14. I recently noticed a loss of traction or momentum on tight left hand turns in my IS250 automatic. It happened recently when i darted out of a side road(left turn) onto a main road, and again last night on a rather fast left turn. Maybe my left foot is a bit heavy and the traction control is cutting the power. I have also experienced a little wheel spin at times. Any thoughts on this?
  15. Just been quoted £485 for a 40k service or £569 for 40k plus intermediate using their service plan (50% upfront and balance payable over 12 months interest free) at Lexus Twickenham. Just been in to have the Brake cylinder recall done. Car was returned to me washed and valeted, plus a complimentary bottle of champagne on the front seat. A nice touch i thought. Seeing as my car is out of warranty, i can get the same service done using Toyota parts for around £200 at my independent.
  16. Really interesting stuff. That explains why when its really cold my transmission behaves the way it does.
  17. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item256bc64c20hOPE This might be the one your looking for, or this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-RX-GS-ES-IS250-RX330-GS300-Aluminum-Pedal-/190538384273?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c5cf90391
  18. Thats a pretty good price. I bought mine from an independent and paid £8995. It had full Lexus service history up to 31k. It had 36k on the clock when I bought. Mines having the master cylinder recall done next week and a oil change soon. My neighbour owns a garage and services mine and all my friends cars at reasonable rates. Seeing as my car is out of warranty, i don't see the need to pay Lexus prices. I will buy Toyota parts and give them to my mechanic use.
  19. Good choice. I have a IS250 SEL auto that I bought two months ago. Having previously owned a Honda Accord Executive. The differences are vast. The Lexus is by far the best car I have owned so car. The autobox is sublime.
