  1. The sub will almost certianly need to be mounted in a box. A sub that doesn't require a box is referred to as 'infinite baffle' - these are not very common these days. A sub mounted in a box can take more power, is easier to control and is more efficient - in other words "will be louder and sound better. The key to great bass is isolating the air infront of the sub from the air behind it, this is easier if it's in a box (obviously this rule goes out the window with ported boxes - but I'll not get in to that) If the amp is just to run the sub then I'd recommend getting a class D amp. One of the better value amps around is the Alpine MRPM350 - giving 350RMS - £115 The RES-RE10V2 10" sub from RE would be a good sub to complement that amp - £95 The prices are from http://www.caraudiodirect.com/
  2. I always build my own PC, for a couple of reasons: It's cheaper and the PC can be customised to my exact requirements. One thing I hate about PCs is the noise - so I put effort in to making them whisper quiet - that's not an option people like Dell tend to offer. Also with Dell, the basic somputers are cheap, but upgrading them costs alot. The cost to upgrade from an 80Gb HDD to a 160G is more than it costs to buy a complete 160G HDD. The same nearly applies to memory - upgrading from 512Mb to 1024Mb is £94 - I paid less than £100 for 2x 512Mb PC3200 A floppy drive costs £23.50 from Dell - or £5 from my local computer shop.
  3. Congatulations - it's great to see it working. Do you have plans to uprate th efuel system soon? Can't wait to find out the proper dyno results.
  4. I got the pirelli Pzeros on my car from new and moved away from them because of the price (£125 per tyre) Having driven on lesser tyres I know realise the PZeros are worth the money and will be fitting them next time they need changed. I got 20,000 miles out of them on the front - the rear ones only lasted half that because I was a bit naughty.
  5. I'd agree with you - it's more show than go. They have put R&D into making it look flashy instead of sounding good. In my experience, their amps pwer ratings are exagerated. What would you recommend Mr Singh - RE maybe :P This site sells some high quality ICE http://www.bladeice.co.uk/
  6. OK, I'm trying to get my head around KPI and I understand what it is (I've even been out under the car with a torch), but I'm not sure of it's function. The only thing I can think of is that as a wheel turns away from straight on, the force across the tread becomes more concentrated on the edge of the tyre, but at the same time the angle of the KPI causes pressure to counter that force, hence making the tyre sit flatter on the road in a corner. - am I even luke warm?
  7. Yeah, thanks, I had a look at your site - I think I'd need some pointing and hand gestures around suspension to get a grip of the theory of KPI. So next time, should I ask the technician to add some negative camber, to improve the handling? - or will the bigger wheel already be making the camber more negative than normal?
  8. My bank offered me 6.6% without any fuss at all. ← I found 5.9% through www.1clickmortgages.com - can pick from Alliance and leicester or Direct line. It's only a saving of about £7/month based on £10k over 3 years.
  9. Thanks for the feedback - at least now I know it's not full geometry. But at least it's better than just tracking. Does 1 hour seem like a reasonable time to set up the geometry. I'll have to have a look around for some one who knows about KPI and incuded angle next time. :)
  10. Should an LSD not behave the same as a standard diff in such non violent testing? It's only under power that the diff becomes locked forcing the wheels to turn together - otherwise, when turning a corner, one wheel would be dragged since the distance travelled is different. I'm no expert, but this was my understanding. Feel free to educate me.
  11. I paid £225 for mine just before Christmas. Even got new wiper blades fitted. Shop around would be my advice. Also ask for discount - I was quoted £250 by servicing, but spoke to the sales man who sold me the car, and he got me discount on the labour.
  12. My 10k service cost £100 and the 20K cost £225. Wiper blades replaced both times. My mate, who has a Nissan Patrol was quoted £180 and £270 for his first and second services by Nissan here. He got them done for £70 and £110 in a Nissan franchise in Spain. I know it's a long way to go to save a few pounds, but he was travelling up and down anyway (and now lives down there)
  13. I've noticed that - I use it when I'm not in any hurry (50-60mph) I also use it for traffic jams (it makes the car easier to control in a slow crawl.) Contrary to popular belief, the SNOW button does actually do somthing. The IS200 has an electronic throttle - and as such can be changed at the push of a button. So pressing SNOW, dulls the response of the throttle. AFAIK, it doesn't affect the cars ability to accelerate, it just means you have to press the accelerator harder. The IS was made with a livley throttle, to make it feel sportier than it actually is - I would have preferred if they reversed the set up and had it dulled for normal driving, with the option to press a SPORT button to liven it up.
  14. This is the print out I got for my alignment http://www.imagehosting.us/imagehosting/sh....jpg/?id=151251 The car is on 18s and standard sport suspension - any comments welcomed. Does this cover full geometry? Being from N.Ireland, Watford wouldn't really be economically viable.
  15. That's Rubbish .... mine had a scratch on it .... and Lexus Woodford replaced the colour coded cover for me ! - Good Ol's James .... nice chap he is ! Regards, ← Mr Shipley has got me sorted, if my local deal want to rip me off then they won't be getting my business. Thanks Chris - you should receive payment in tomorrows post.
  16. Hi, I've lost the colour coded cover of one of my mirrors and need to replace it - Toyota have told me that I need to buy a complete new mirror assembly because the cover cannot be bought seperatley - can any one confirm this? Does any one know of any other alternatives - £250 is a lot to spend when I only want the platic cover. T.I.A.
  17. I just fitted a K&N filter in mine on Friday. Cost £40 from a local shop. Could be a bit of placebo effect, but I think it has made the car pull better.
  18. As per title, if you have had you clutch changed, how many miles had it done before wearing out? Thanks?
  19. My arm could be twisted to a blue one too
  20. Probably her perception, the clutch is quite fast and the steering is fast. The low firm ride may also add to it.
  21. I have those same size of tyres on my car and there is no problem reaching top speed.
  22. http://www.carkeys.co.uk/news/2004_april/20/2737.asp Although honda beat the IS200 to first place by one measly point. Someone reading this could have prevented that...you know who you are :P
  23. Cheers for the advice, but I only do that at work or outside the house (the car is parked round the back of the house)
  24. I usually start the car and then take of my steering lock and put it in the boot, probably a bit over 10 seconds. If there is frost on the windows then I start the car and go back inside for a cup of tea so when I come out again the windows are clear and the car is toastie warm.
