Nice idea, but I don't think you'd get anywhere near a whole exhaust system for around £260 ex VAT which is what the back box on one side cost me. Also, I'm keen to preserve the car with original Lexus parts throughout my ownership. The history of the car prior to me taking it on is immaculate in that respect and it will stay that way.

Not sure about the exhaust but it definitely had a big hole in it!

Those of you with long memories may recall that I bought my LS600h from Lexus Stoke back in August last year. It had done around 100k and was sold with a full 3 year Lexus warranty and a full 3 year service plan. In my ownership so far, it has had a minor service (at 110k miles) but nothing has gone awry until a few weeks ago when I started to notice an uncharacteristic rumbling noise under acceleration (difficult to hear but quite distinct). Anyway, fast forward to this weekend, and I've just got the car back from Lexus Stoke following a major service at 120k miles. As part of the service, I had two new front tyres and they replaced half of the exhaust (the back box on one side and associated other bits and pieces). It had developed a large hole on the top of the box (which explained the noise). Neither of these items were covered by the warranty (no surprise) so I am a few £ lighter but peace is restored to the Lexus and it is driving like new again. I didn't skimp on the tyres either (they put Bridgestone Potenza which I hope will meet with your approval). They also replaced the earthing strap on the underside of the gearbox which had corroded. So, all set up for another year of happy motoring in what is undoubtedly the best car I have ever owned. I'd be interested to know how other LS600 owners are getting on with their cars. I'm still in a quandary about what to do in 18-24 months time. This car is fantastic and has a literally full service history with Lexus (which will be maintained by myself). No one else has touched it. It is a nice problem to think about and plan for so any ideas welcomed!

Parking is an absolute breeze. Sensors everywhere and a rear camera. It will even park itself apparently but I've never tried that. As for supermakets etc, I just tend to park in a quiet bit and walk a bit further. Just trying to avoid those accidental dents. I couldn't follow the link but I'm hoping it led to another great Lexus?

I've done this recently. In the past I've had two LS400s. Both lovely and bought for less than £1k each. Drove both for around 3 years with must normal servicing and the odd extra bill. The first one was LPG and sadly the VVTI unit when bang travelling along a local bypass. I put it down to poor servicing prior to my ownership. The second car I ending up selling for a small profit. I really enjoyed both the LS400 but the family didn't like them much. They were a bit too dated in style (they have no taste!). I loved the history behind the car and researched that quite a bit at the time. I'm not a mechanic and I've not got any particular interest in learning how to do anything more complex than changing oil, etc. So, my view is that it would probably be good to have more skill than me to keep these things going on the road as they get older. It could be an expensive game to be in if you are paying independent mechanics fees for jobs on these cars on a more regular basis. Anyway, move forward to last year (and following two years in a lovely Honda Accord 3.0 Coupe), I bought my current car - a 2008 LS600 from Lexus Stoke. Just over 100k and they included a full three year warranty in the sale. I've now done just over 15k in the car. Immaculate service history, all Lexus, from day one. It will continue to be that way. I've put a private plate on it and it is often mistaken for a new car by those who know nothing about these things :) I love this car. The family love it too. It is so quiet, refined, luxurious and has enough bells and whistles to keep everyone engaged. The quality of the workmanship throughout is astonishingly good. I have the 'poverty' spec by choice (no reclining rear seats) but I can put a digital piano on the back seat when needed for work. It is super quiet on the motorway, loads of power, and is a fabulous place to be. I regularly get just over 30mpg which isn't bad for such a big car imho. I look at the newer LS range and I like the dynamic styling etc. But I also really love the look of my car too. I can honestly say that there is another car that I'd rather own at the moment that this LS600. Whilst I genuinely loved both of my LS400 and was really sad to see them go, given the choice I'd go for the LS600 every day of the week. It is an amazing bit of engineering in every respect. The only issue is what on earth am I going to replace this amazing car with around the summer of 2021?

I wouldn't rule out an older one. I got mine with just 100k from the Lexus dealer network. It was like new and still drives as such (just done 115k). Sent from my LG-H870DS using Tapatalk

Sincere apologies! Not wanting to appear snobbish at all. But I don't think that we are comparing like with like here. From what I've heard from friends, new jags are not everything they are cracked up to be either. Good luck with your new car.

Great to get such a detailed response! Brilliant indeed. As for the LS600h, no accident damage at all, nothing in the history (all Lexus about anything like that) and colour variation must have been in the photo as in the flesh it is immaculate. Good luck with the sale of your car which does look superb.

Sounds a bit toppy to me. I paid a little more than that for a 2008 LS600h from a Lexus main dealer and that included a 3 year complete main dealer warranty. It did have 100k miles but it drives and looks like a new car [emoji3]. Sent from my LG-H870DS using Tapatalk

Yes, £9k is well over the market price and, as others have said, it has been unsold for over a year.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before (apologies if it has), but I came across this article via a link on another Lexus forum. It confirms what everyone who has been driven in my LS600h has said, i.e. something along the lines of - wow, this is really quiet! http://elevatingsound.com/the-price-of-quiet-driving/ For me, the quiet and refined environment inside the LS is one of the best things about the car. Great to see the LS at the top of the list!
