  1. It does only happen when I play the music loud (half way up on the volume) which is loud when you get in the car in the morning! But when I'm on the Motorway it's different!

Anyway, can I get the woofer / tweeter / birdie / budgie / stereo replaced under warranty!!?!!?!!

  2. Hi all,

During the weekend my stereo decided to cut out and instead of the normal sound I could only hear what can be described as a deep bass coming from the rear speakers. I parked up left the car for 10mins and returned and it was OK again.

Same happened yesterday and after leaving it for a while it returned normal again.

I've got it booked into the dealer to have a look at - any ideas what it is and is it covered under warranty?

    Cheers!

  3. £300 is still expensive.

I paid about £180 for mine in Lexus Stockport! NO EDITED - paid £252 ! :whistling:

In fact I've never paid more than that for the major service, even the minor servicing is about £120 !!!

The only biggie is the 60k which I've been quoted about £500.

You could save a load of cash and book it into Stockport, nice drive over Woodhead as well, even with the cost of petrol your still quids in!

Ask them to fax you over an itiniary - are they changing the aircon filter? They usually do on a major service and I think they charge about £50 for this alone! If you do have Gold, have a look at the discount we get on Puravent filters, pay about £20 if I remember - I have one and they're great.

  4. finally some quality response since some of the answers here are from little boy racers.

What gives you the right to call the response from boy racers - Boy racers or not they still drive the same car as you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bet you'd feel different if it was you who bought a car weeks before the spec changed!

  5. What date did you receive the car & what date did the new promotion go on?

If it was me I would seriously kick Lexus A*s for doing that - surely they must have known about the new promotion when you ordered your car / during it being manufactured - 10 weeks does sound a long time for a car that they pretty much have sitting in an airfield somewhere. (I remember when I bought mine, I looked at buying new and was told 2 weeks!)

Put it this way, if you bought a tv from a store in December and it was reduced in the January sale you'd complain right? In this situation you have a lower spec'd car for the same price with satnav, jees I reckon you've probably lost circa £1000 for trade in compare to the sat nav spec'd model.

I feel for you mate, maybe check with trading standards - I would.

  6. Mine's Strathcaron blue, which I think is the best colour (well I would wouldn't I?)

I do like the granite sky colour and that would be my other option.

Sorry to upset the silver's out there, but from what I've seen on the road Silver is the new Red, and before you start ranting I do think the IS holds it's own in Silver - so there! But silver is just becoming too common, would be nice if Lex could design some new colours in the new IS (e.g. Laguna Seca blue like in the M3 - not to copy but just an example)

  7. Well Tomtom navigator doesn't switch off over 100mph - somebody told me :driving:

I've mounted my tomtom nav cradle into the centre heater console and it looks much better than sucked onto the windscreen. I also have a wired gps which is mounted on top of the ashtray and with the sunroof visor open gives me full line of sight (used it today and was getting 8 satellites).

As mentioned above you can also get the static speed camera's as POI's from the checkpoint website.

It's as good as roadangel, laser aler didn't work on my roadangel!

Be aware that the laser detectors will be banned sometime in the future.

PM me if you want pics or any more info.

  8. Sorry if it's already been done, but I've not read it until I found below:

The new generation Lexus IS makes its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, and includes Lexus's first diesel engine, an all-aluminium, 2.2-litre 175 bhp four-cylinder unit.

Unfortunately the diesel is not available until next year.

The IS is also available with a new 2.5-litre V6 petrol engine with a stoichiometric direct injection system, matched with a six-speed automatic transmission with sequential paddle-shift control.

The car will also feature Lexus's radar-controlled Pre-Crash Safety system (PCS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Intelligent Adaptive Front Lighting System (I-AFS). Ten airbags will be fitted as standard, including a first-in-segment double knee airbag. Performance, traction control and vehicle stability will be further enhanced by Lexus's Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management System (VDIM).

The new generation IS will go on sale in Europe at the end of 2005 with the diesel model following in 2006.

    ------------------------------------------------------

stoichiometric eh? Think I'll sign up a new nickname!

Anybody interested in a group buy next year (and I'm being serious), do you think we'll get some discount bearing in mind the demand?
