  1. Was using it during the summer for a few tank fulls. MPG was ok but nothing out of the special. However after an initial fill up it does make everything smoother. Especially take off - less clutch judder. The effect seems to wear off as the ecu works out the extra RON. 5TH Gear on monday night (14/11) are supposed to do an article on premuim fuels which should be interesting.
  2. Guessing gas price movements is always going to be tricky. The suppliers will tell you one thing and the commentators will tell you the current prices are unsustainable. Have a look at http://www.fool.co.uk/news/comment/2005/c050923c.htm the yahoo finance website is ok too. Personally I didn't when offered it from our supplier. But you can probably opt out if things change. Then of course you should be checking uswitch.com to see if your supplier is still competitive. Prices did tend to fall after the supplier shake up a few years back, but how often do you see a good news story in the press!
  3. There was an LS which featured a bit on Doc Martin last year
  4. Is it a sort of best excuses top ten type topic! Such as: "I'm a member of the royal family" or " - I was just testing out these go faster strips" or "Sorry Officer - I thought the blue flasing light was a UFO" over to you!
  5. i paid £300 after gold discount at Lexus Reading, it should be a bit cheaper up north, maybe. I always get mine picked up from work - Reading's a bit of a carpark first thing so I let them take the strain. But courstesy cars are usually free if you ask nicely and don't look too scary. It has been mentioned elsewhere that you might have to pay an insurance fee(£10) How long does it take.? Rome wasn't built in a day, sir. Its a major service so may take a while - accept you probably won't have it for the day
  6. Surely Dave Gilmour - Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb - Live 8 must come in for a mention. Air Guitar-tastic!!
  7. Warning - Boring hat on, Boy Racer Scowl in Glove Box at the moment. I sometimes use a fixed throttle opening rather than a constant speed. This way going down a hill I'll speed up and then slow down on the way back up. Alternatively thrash it down the hill and cruise up the other side. Tailgateing - err I mean slip streaming. Well what else are these big *bleep* 4x4's for if not for making a nice big 'whole' in the air. The down is probably a few more stone chips on the bonnet. (Can you tell I cycle a bit)
  8. Yeah, pretty much addicted, and now that E4 is on freeview I can get even more of it, but hey it keeps me away from love island. They are a bit of augumentative bunch. I must be getting old as they seem to be getting more childish or is it just more promotion of 'alternative lifestyles'. Still trying to work out who are the victims and who are the drama queens. Max seems a laugh and Sam seems cute and up for it! Then there are the fat slags and then there are ours friends in comfortable shoes. and Mary - weird.
  9. Next TG series starts 22nd May As far as i remember Mr Palin enjoys a good adventure and must use the odd plane now and again - hippercrit I'd say.
  10. If i were in your shoes I'd hang on a while, certainly until the less favourable buying season ie autumn winter Factors/Reasons why: The economy is in the balance Retail spending has flattened as debt has become slightly more expensive. Everyones maxed out on credit cards Oil price rises have reduced spending power Govenment taxes have reduced spending power - may be more to come if, as expected, labour are returned and Gordon gets his way. Talk of increased interest rates now on hold - watch out on thursday More houses 'seem' to be coming onto the market. As usual its all guess work Industry is fairly bouyant at the moment although the oil price does seem to be worryingly high. How high can house prices go up in the short term - not much I imagine. Many are talking about a soft landing - but if it goes wrong then what. hopefully all this cheery stuff points to a bit cheaper housing - maybe
  11. I use DVD shrink to crack the protection. with Nero 6 (recode2 included) on the system, DVD shrink will link with nero to do the compressing and burning. It is fairly easy to use - take a few moments to author the DVD and check which options you want then let it go.
  12. hmm probably too much real ale at lunch Hi Everbody, burp.
  13. Hi Colin, To make a cd bootable you need a bootable floppy and something like nero to burn the image onto the front end of the disk. The disk will actually come up blank under windows explorer but when booted will appear as the A: drive. windows 98 installation disks are generally bootable. In this case i'd erarse your exisitng partition - fdisk Reinstate the c: partition and copy over the windows files onto the HDD into something like c:\windows\options\cabs under DOS you can run up the windows setup installer from there and it should install. You can't 'downgrade' NT to 98. Service Pack 6a is the last NT service pack. And don't forget you'll need cd drivers on your boot floppy - if you haven't got these don't start doing anything! Hope that helps - as you can tell I might have done this before - but you'd better be patient your gonna need a few drivers for the tosh.
  14. Hi certainly more memory will help the ole 'puta but if your trying save money i'd rebuild the system drive with the OS and apps You could try defraging the hard drive a few times. Win 98 does tend to slow over a period of time and complete rebuild will freshen things up and you'll only reloaded the apps you really need.
  15. Is that on BP normal or BP ultra? It would be interesting to see what difference, if any, running on shell optimax had on the figures. Also, there seems to have been an improved trend in the middle of the graph was this during the summer months?
  16. i see what you mean about the lack of drivers - helpful not! have you tried the driver for the M5105 it looks like the same spec as the m5116 - it can't do much harm. other than that there was a bloke on forums.windrivers.com with exacty the same problems on his m5116 - they suggested going to emachines support - unfortunately no follow up on the thread
  17. Oh the joy of drivers! had a look on the synaptics website - oddly they don't admit to allowing their bits on emachine products. They've got a vaguely helpfull troubleshooting guide for the touchpad - might be worth a look. secondly there are some touchpad drivers on the emachines website - it might have to be a specfic driver that does the trick. http://www.e4me.com/support Lastly, your mate hasn't decided to disable the touchpad in the bios?
  18. sounds like the driver for the touchpad has screwed up. After making sure its not a case of the the device being disabled in hardware devices. Uninstall the the device and then right click a component to enable a search for the pc to PNP any new devices, hopefully this should fix it. If not, then its off to the emachines website for a new driver.
  19. In two words Don't Bother! They had this on QVC uk a month or so ago which caught my attention so i thought I'd do a bit of research, found a site from this guy who said he was in the petro-chemicals industry and had see all manner of different inventions which claimed 'improvements' in combustion, efficiency and performance and all in his opinion were rubbish as none of them could be properly scientifically proven. Bascically he said that engine's were already very efficient and if any of these ideas were any good then the car industry with there millions of R&D would have found it and be using it.
  20. 2, if poss, please :winky:
  21. I'd recommend you take a look at the scan.co.uk 3xs or barebone systems. The 3XS systems may be not the cheapest but they do use good quality components, You can configure them so you only get the bits you want\need. Personally i favour the MSI\nvidia backed bits. Loads of regularly updated drivers and other info to help you if you do get into problems. Medion - cheap but unknown components last time i looked. AMD64 - too early to tell. I'd wait a bit for the market to sort out the software.
  22. Also worth trying for good last minute deals
  23. Elephant.co.uk £310 :D 9years NCD Hants Driveway Got the quote off the net and was going to ring them but before i got around to it they rang up and offered another 5% off. gobsmacked The test of any insurance company is when it comes time for them to pay up!!
